So this new format doesn't let me block him out like before. Damnit.
the logic of not allowing the winning run to get to 3rd (or 2nd) with less than 2 outs should be pretty clear but I guess some don't quite understand the game.

It was beyond brain-dead. Say Utley fields that ball. The runner on third could break towards home, draw a throw, and retreat back to third. Then it's bases loaded. I couldn't believe it.pjhawks said:
I'm not sure I've ever seen a team play in the infield in to cut off the tying run with 1st and 3rd and 1 out. completely mind boggling.Ledbetterman10 said:I saw that coming a mile away. This is fucking dope. Apparently Extra Innings comes with MLB.tv this year. No instructions on how to active it yet though and the person at Comcast had no clue what I was talking about.

I've been trying to figure out how to activate it myself. I have FIOS and i've been thinking of calling, but they probably won't have a clue either.

Yeah, I guess I am kind of waiting for that site I liked to above to update if it ever does. No one at cable companies will know anything.cutz said:Cliffy6745 said:This is fucking dope. Also, Chromecast, buy it now. Incredible.
Nothing in the MLB.tv FAQs on how to set it up

Utley fields that ball, they go double play. The chances of getting that double play are slimmer with Martin at the plate. You go for two, which isn't even a routine play for a 2nd baseman there - as much as everyone would like to think - and now there's a more than 50/50 chance that the runner scores since you can't get the double play. The point is Sandberg didn't want the runner at 3rd to score. At all.
I'm not defending it, as I wouldn't have done it - but it does show how this guy's going to manage: like it's game 7 every game. It's not like he didn't think it through, as you see by multiple coaches barking out the infield depth. Where it was right or not doesn't matter - the point is it was more thought out than you would like to believe.
And at the heart of all this is a closer who let 6 of 7 hitters get on-base.
And yes, Cliff, Chromecast is the bee's knees.0 -
I thought it was pretty dumb. That's an easy double-play if Utley's not in on the grass. But you're right about the true issue being Papelbon having no velocity and the fact that he doesn't seem to realize it.Jearlpam0925 said:
