I kinda get the point of pumping in noise. I think Girardi made a good point about if there's no noise all of a sudden the hitter can hear where the catcher's setting up, etc etc.

I feel for anyone with kids in school from kindergarten to, like, 4th or 5th grade. Over that age I think it's easier to digest from a developmental standpoint for kids to learn virtually. Good thing we prioritized plans for restaurants and bars over education.
Oooooh, the hitter can hear where the catcher's setting up! Big fucking deal.

There are parks that are close to empty during a regular season anyway.

Fake crowd noise is lame as hell.
Yeah, like they can't hear that anyway. Ever been to a Marlins game? You can hear the conversations in the dugout there's such little crowd noise.

Yeah, I meant to mention this might be a thing. Saw this the other day.  Seems like just white noise to drown out what the players are saying.

I detest everything about this idea.

Hopefully basketball doesn't do that too.
The worst thing about it in the soccer games I have watched is that it doesn't follow the game at all.  It is literally just white crowd noise that sometimes gets louder and softer, but isn't really aligned with the action.  I got used to it, but yeah, I am not a fan.

it's weird both ways.  without any noise is really strange as well.  i think it could work if they did a better job of following the flow of the game.  ill take either for baseball. just want some semblance of real sports back.

Broad Street Run is not cancelled it is virtual.  Hahaha.  Those fucking scums.  Taking everyone's money, no refund.
Philadelphia Marathon cancelled but at least I can get a refund if I want.  (Will just roll to next year and run a personal marathon on the day of.)

    Sucks big hog.

Before knowing how it will be: I don't think I'm going to like FAKE crowd noise.

I'd like to see basketball have no fake crowd noise and let's hear what the players are saying on the court. I know ESPN can show the unedited version on one channel and then show the edited version on another , like they did for The Last Dance.

I weirdly haven't missed sports as much as I anticipated, which is weird especially considering the squad the yankees have.  Have had my hands full with the kid and work being insane (no complaints there), now going to the shore, so that has obviously helped distract me.  But yeah, will awesome to have it back, even if it is short lived.  All I want is next Thursday then whatever.

I'm the same way. No kids but have just been super busy with work. Also playing a lot of golf. Catching up on shows I meant to watch but never did. Consumed with the horrible news that gets worse every day. It's a lot

But....yeah I would've thought it would've been way worse than this without team sports. In the fall, if football doesn't happen, that's gonna be super strange. But overall I agree.

I think I'm more excited for the Sixers than Phils or Eagles at this point though

Yeah we watched a good amount of tv but also ended up working in the evenings a good bit. Read a couple books too. And yeah, the fucking dreadful news.

I’m looking forward to the sixers too

    Strange times, indeed

20% off is better than nothing.  I would have rolled to next year in sure and not taken refund to hold my place.  Oh well
Your wife planned to run the Half again this year?
I'm going to have to run the Marathon in my neighborhood.  Could be a slight challenge, logistically.  Think I will have to run a 2 miles loop 13.1 times or something.
Need to have access to water and bathroom or else I would just go 13.1 miles out and turn around.
What will suck is not getting the lift from being among the other participants and the crowd cheering on.
Going to be a rough commitment to honor, but one worth making is one worth keeping.

Kind of agree but it’s really easy in the summer to be without sports. Once the weather turns cold if we ain’t got sports it’s gonna blow.

Curious - did anyone else buy tix to Sea Hear Now? Hotels seems to be way far out to book right now, but it looks like some VRBO and Airbnb spots are booking. Just locked up a big old house in Belmar for cheaper than I'm sure any hotel will cost. Just a thought for anyone who may be looking at some point. Now, here's to waiting 15 months and holding out hope for a vaccine...

By the way, who gives a shit about pumped in noise? More importantly, the grievance should be reserved for the extra innings rule of a runner on 2nd base.

I was going to possibly agree with you, but now I am realizing Amaro is part of the broadcasting team???? Let's all go back to quarantine immediately.

I just turned on the game and heard him. Kinda an odd addition to the broadcast team. I heard he replaced Ben Davis.

i’m wondering if the Phillie Phantic will be in around this year? Probably not since there will be no fans.
