Wish there was a way to convert this. For some reason this YouTube link doesn't allow for conversion to mp3. There is another thread about this with an mp3 but it's not the same as this YouTube version, at least to me it doesn't sound the same.
Sounds great. I totally dig it. For some reason I was expecting it to be more different than the original in some structural way. Its pretty much exactly the same with just a new vocal recording right? And the vocals are all in the same spots and timing.. its just more in his modern voice without the "early 90's steriotypical Vedder" delivery.
Which is nice but I really thought it would have been sped up or slowed down or glitzed up in some fashion. Did I miss anything? Just checking. All that being said I want to have this in my collection
Very curious as to the omission of certain lyrics and repeat of a verse. Not nearly as powerful as the original arrangement. Still amazing, just not nearly as powerful as the version on Ten.
"Leave it to me as I find a way to be.
Consider me a satellite forever orbiting.
I knew all the rules but the rules did not know me.
Guaranteed."

i was thinking it was just a re-worked or different take of the original. Not hearing a more "Modern Voice"...then again my ears ain't what they used to be.

the most noticeable difference is that he doesn't "growl" as much I guess. Very cool though
"Well, I think this band is incapable of sucking."
-my dad after hearing Not for You for the first time on SNL .

I dont really know how to express it over the internet. I could vocally show you if you were here. Basically Ed isn't going over the top on the low notes like he did on Ten. The same sound that every parody of vedder ever has. The same sound Creed tried to emulate. Ed didn't do that on vs or any album since.
Some people made it seem like this was a completely remade version :?
Saw this on Alt NAtion:
"Eddie Vedder re-recorded his vocals to the Pearl Jam classic “Release” 22 years after the original Ten version for the Out of the Furnace soundtrack. Vedder recorded several new tracks for the soundtrack that will never see the light of day because the director felt that they didn’t fit the film."

Oh, maybe thats the confusion. Thanks for posting.

In another article he says the songs were too good and became more personal. So he decided not to use it. I thought that was odd. Everytime there was that long pause in the movie I wondered what Ed's songs would have sounded like?

Now back to the far superior original.

Thank you!
