It's not illegal to smoke in public but it is illegal (or at least a rule that is heavily enforced) to smoke at Wrigley Field. I was waiting out the rain right outside the field and two cops came over and started screaming (and I mean screaming) at a gentleman for smoking. The cop grabbed the guys cigarette and threw it at him.

As far as douche bags...oh my god were there some idiots during the rain delay. The guy in front of me was purposely farting on the girl behind him because she asked him to get off her foot. (he was loaded, and was falling all over everyone). He thought it was hilarious. All of us managed to gradually push him back, but what a frickin ass.

lmfao Midwest is so assbackwads, west coast is way more laid back the cops wouldn't give a shit, pj should play red rocks

Its called common courtesy. Like i told my buddy...you can smoke at your seat, but if someone asks you to put it out dont even question it just put it out. The fact is its a rule at Wrigley...so if they ask you to put it out just do it, im sure if you need one you can find another place to light up and will be fine. I dont care, but I understand why people do care, its a rule, so deal with it.
    This could be the day

Hope this guy seriously got his membership pulled! section 421 row 7, I believe sets 104+105.

Guy next to him asked him to put out his cigarette, guy proceeded to stand up and blow smoke into his face, when he told him to stop and sit down the guy punched him in the face 3 times then took off running!

I know security caught the guy, and im sure he was arrested and has charges coming down the wire, but I hope that 10 Club keeps tabs on which seats they give out to which members and revokes the memberships of those who cause problems like this! Guy was a total dick and represented the 10C and all the other Bostonians who visited in a poor light!!

Also, to the guy who got hit, I hope you are ok and you were able to come back after the delay and enjoy some of the show, if not, hit me up and I will personally buy you a copy of the bootleg when released!
Oh my god !! We saw this!! ( we were in 423) wow yeah that guy was a total jack ass!!
And to the guy who got hit, I'm sosorry that you got seated next to such a douchebag!! My sister and I were simply appalled by that guy's behavior!

I absolutely hate cigarette smoke. Wrigley is non-smoking and people who choose to ignore that are self-entitled douche bags. Why should non-smokers just have to 'suck it up' when no smoking is clearly the rule. How is that any different from pissing in the isle? Sorry, I absolutely fucking hate it. So gross.

both people are fuckin dumb, first you don't punch someone in the face for something dumb like that, and 2nd it a rock concert outside, who the fuck cares if someone is smoking, unless the person at the show that wants the smoke out has no lungs left cause they smoke themselves forever, I think it real douchy to tell someone to put a smoke out at a rock show, yet all these clowns in 2013 dick around with their cellphones at shows, nobody tells people hey idiot put your cell phone away we at a rock show, how is that different than smoking? the worse is the idiots that walk in the concession area with cell phones not watching where the fuck they going, I don't even bother avoiding these idiots anymore, they don't pay attention let them walk in to me then tell hem watch where they are walking

So I'm at the Vedder Hartford solo show few years back up in the Balcony..... I'm with 4 people and we all stood up and sang along during porch I believe with at least half the place. Guy walks up to me during the show and threatens to hit me if I didn't immediately sit down... People saw this and posted in their fan views as I mentioned at the time. I was in total shock for a second, then wanted to throw his ass off the Balcony and was restrained by my friend and brother. I waited 5 minutes, turned around to see the douchbag like 9 rows behind us in a stadium like seating arraignment which would have made it impossible for even my 6'1 self to effect him. Strangers around me were on my side..... So I ran back to him and told him to wait for me after the show at his seat and we could take it outside cause he kinda ruined a part of the show for us and didn't even fuckin ask for me to sit down like a gentlemen which I would have obliged. So show ends and he was no where to be found... Big shock. And I noticed like 10 empty mixed drink cups around him... Big shock again.

So if I hit him at the moment he started with me I guess I'd be a dickhead for punching him?? Even though I'm a respectful dude who is more than considerate to others in all aspects of my life??

Point is a lot of you caught the aftermath, I wasn't in the section at Wrigley but also know there are 2 sides to everything and sometimes you can't judge from the result without getting all the facts .

Hate to generalize but i've only seen this stuff at East Coast PJ shows i've seen. Sounds like Chicago should definitely be included though. Lots of stories to tell from my northeast shows. Never saw anything even remotely like this at shows in Cali, the south, etc. I've seen people wasted on who knows what, but they were happy wasted people. It's a shame because Philly/Boston/NYC (and now CHI) are generally your loudest fans in the country for PJ. Unfortunately, the East Coast crowd just gets filled with frat boys and kids who watched Goodfellas too many times.

i really don't understand this attitude. Self entitled? Douchebag? because i smoke a cigarette. wow. How is that different from pissing in the aisle? are you kidding me? you find being pissed on equal to having cigarette smoke in your general direction when standing outside? Rules are meant to be broken cupcake - and when you are at a rock and roll concert don't whine about people being drunk or high or smoking. It's a fucking rock and roll concert. :fp:
You can bitch when you get peed on or punched in the face. But someone smoking a cigarette outdoors? get for real that is some entitled shit if i ever heard it - you can't smoke because its the rules at Wrigley - well go tell on me then. Security probably would have laughed at you. I actually had the security tell me to smoke wherever just not right in front of him.

Another example of the pusification of our country. Babies wearing helmets so they don't hit there head when they fall, trophies for participation in sports and no smoking at outdoor rock concerts.

Wow...I really feel bad for the guy that got clocked. I understand that it's a concert and there will be smoking and drinking, but it's really disrespectful to those who don't smoke to have some jerk purposely blowing his second hand smoke all over the place. Especially when it's reserved seating and it's so easy for the smoker to leave and return back to their original seat. Non-smokers are non-smokers for a reason. A lot of times people drink way more then they should too at concerts so does that mean we should just put up with it and not care when they dump their beer all over my sweatshirt and purse? Clearly they had too much to drink and started acting like idiots and I had to pay for their actions. Yes, that happened to me several years ago at a PJ concert. I am just happy to know that I don't need to get drunk or doing anything stupid at a PJ concert because just being there with them gives me enough of a high! :D

ala Phish couch tours. could be very profitable for PJ, doubt it will happen. Something about keeping shows private visually. someone start a Ustream.com at shows so i don't have to listen from a lamp post outside the stadium.

Or perhaps it shows the lack of respect for those around you. But you're correct, this country is full of pussies especially when I diagnose them with metastatic bladder cancer or renal cancer. If they would just suck it up and kick cancers ass then this smoking issue wouldn't matter.

I think the problem could be everyone think's it's their show and not our show. Some people drink too much at concerts and some of those people get out of line. Cigarette smokers(myself included) just need to get their nicotine. Pot smokers, for the most part are easy going. The younger guy next to me was smoking a bowl and asked me if I wanted a hit. I said "No, but thanks" and we continued to enjoy the show. Like someone said I can deal with you repeating yourself and even spilling your drink on me so you really shouldn't be pissed when I light a smoke. For the people who don't drink , smoke, or occasionally hit a joint Lighten Up you'll probably outlive us all. When it comes to public indecency and sexual assaults, that needs to go to the authorities. There are no excuses or tolerance for that. If the guy who was urinating on people woke up in jail facing assault charges, I don't think the judge will accept I was drunk as his defense. Frat boys trying to grope females, again, when you wake up in jail, face the music.

I did not read all the posts but I was close to a guy screaming at a guy for peeing on his wife. I could not believe it.

Like i said in an earlier post i try to blow the smoke up into the air - which at Wrigley field is wide open. It's not like we were trapped in a car and i was smoking with the windows up. If you think the minor amount of 2nd hand smoke you may actually have inhaled from that show could give you cancer you should probably go to a different kind of doctor. Also - i didn't call anyone a pussy. I said our country is being pusified - every one is so fucking sensitive. It's laughable. if you still think that makes me a self entitled douchebag because i smoked a few cigarettes at wrigley field so be it. Some people can't be reasoned with.
