Jerk in section 421

  • I absolutely hate cigarette smoke. Wrigley is non-smoking and people who choose to ignore that are self-entitled douche bags. Why should non-smokers just have to 'suck it up' when no smoking is clearly the rule. How is that any different from pissing in the isle? Sorry, I absolutely fucking hate it. So gross.
i really don't understand this attitude. Self entitled? Douchebag? because i smoke a cigarette. wow. How is that different from pissing in the aisle? are you kidding me? you find being pissed on equal to having cigarette smoke in your general direction when standing outside? Rules are meant to be broken cupcake - and when you are at a rock and roll concert don't whine about people being drunk or high or smoking. It's a fucking rock and roll concert. :fp:
You can bitch when you get peed on or punched in the face. But someone smoking a cigarette outdoors? get for real that is some entitled shit if i ever heard it - you can't smoke because its the rules at Wrigley - well go tell on me then. Security probably would have laughed at you. I actually had the security tell me to smoke wherever just not right in front of him.

Another example of the pusification of our country. Babies wearing helmets so they don't hit there head when they fall, trophies for participation in sports and no smoking at outdoor rock concerts.

Wow...I really feel bad for the guy that got clocked. I understand that it's a concert and there will be smoking and drinking, but it's really disrespectful to those who don't smoke to have some jerk purposely blowing his second hand smoke all over the place. Especially when it's reserved seating and it's so easy for the smoker to leave and return back to their original seat. Non-smokers are non-smokers for a reason. A lot of times people drink way more then they should too at concerts so does that mean we should just put up with it and not care when they dump their beer all over my sweatshirt and purse? Clearly they had too much to drink and started acting like idiots and I had to pay for their actions. Yes, that happened to me several years ago at a PJ concert. I am just happy to know that I don't need to get drunk or doing anything stupid at a PJ concert because just being there with them gives me enough of a high! :D

ala Phish couch tours. could be very profitable for PJ, doubt it will happen. Something about keeping shows private visually. someone start a Ustream.com at shows so i don't have to listen from a lamp post outside the stadium.

So many cool people there. These stories are clearly the exception. Everybody around me was super cool.

I guess some people are just selfish and don't care what their smoking does to others around them

Or perhaps it shows the lack of respect for those around you. But you're correct, this country is full of pussies especially when I diagnose them with metastatic bladder cancer or renal cancer. If they would just suck it up and kick cancers ass then this smoking issue wouldn't matter.

I think the problem could be everyone think's it's their show and not our show. Some people drink too much at concerts and some of those people get out of line. Cigarette smokers(myself included) just need to get their nicotine. Pot smokers, for the most part are easy going. The younger guy next to me was smoking a bowl and asked me if I wanted a hit. I said "No, but thanks" and we continued to enjoy the show. Like someone said I can deal with you repeating yourself and even spilling your drink on me so you really shouldn't be pissed when I light a smoke. For the people who don't drink , smoke, or occasionally hit a joint Lighten Up you'll probably outlive us all. When it comes to public indecency and sexual assaults, that needs to go to the authorities. There are no excuses or tolerance for that. If the guy who was urinating on people woke up in jail facing assault charges, I don't think the judge will accept I was drunk as his defense. Frat boys trying to grope females, again, when you wake up in jail, face the music.

I did not read all the posts but I was close to a guy screaming at a guy for peeing on his wife. I could not believe it.

Like i said in an earlier post i try to blow the smoke up into the air - which at Wrigley field is wide open. It's not like we were trapped in a car and i was smoking with the windows up. If you think the minor amount of 2nd hand smoke you may actually have inhaled from that show could give you cancer you should probably go to a different kind of doctor. Also - i didn't call anyone a pussy. I said our country is being pusified - every one is so fucking sensitive. It's laughable. if you still think that makes me a self entitled douchebag because i smoked a few cigarettes at wrigley field so be it. Some people can't be reasoned with.

Now imagine the person who got punched was a woman.
  • It's 2013 I'm always just surprised people still smoke. Two hens in front of me asked for a lighter, I told them I don't smoke. One of them preceded to catch an attitude saying she hoped I wouldn't tattle on her. I didn't but security saw her during the delay and told her to put it out, it was quite funny. People that do drugs, smoke and excessively drink at shows feel that rules don't apply to them. I smelled pot in the concession line for the first time.

I hate to break it to you but blowing smoke in the air does little. I can still smell the stench, and it burns my lungs and eyes. But hey, as long as you're comfortable, that's all that matters right- regardless of the rules. :nono:

And yes, I fucking hate it. I watched my mother die way before her time from smoking related illness.

I am sorry about your mom - and i understand that would make you hate cigarettes in general but to call me a self entitled douchebag because i have a cigarette at an outdoor event (rules or no rules) is extreme.
When 40,000 people get together there is bound to be some discomfort all around.
Clearly i should be more concerned with the people who have extremely sensitive eyes and lungs and, heaven forbid, don't want their clothes to stink after an outdoor concert in the summer.

Why is that not valid? Generally I don't think that wanting to be able to breath or see should be considered a luxury.

    Which is worse:
    A) Someone who lights up a smoke or whatever at a concert
    or
    B) Someone who brings a baby to the GA pit.

I say who cares. All this is doing here is dividing us.

Exactly mdmb, some people are far too sensitive to their surroundings, especially considering the raised tension levels during the "storm" break...fuck me sideways I nearly started smokin' myself... :fp:
On a similar note, on the way back to Scotland, one of the stewardesses on our flight asked us, well demanded, that no one on the plane was to open or consume any foodstuff containing nuts as there was some unfortunate soul on board with a "severe" nut allergy then proceeded to hand out packets of pretzels with the warning "may contain nuts" on it...

The guy who threw the punch was probably in his late 20s, hispanic, in shape guy and the guy who got punched was probably in his late 40s, looked like someones Dad...he had told the hispanic guy to stop smoking multiple times, (there were people smoking all around us and smoking more than cigarettes so I'm unclear as to why he too such offense to this particular fan) but once the obviously drunk hispanic guy took offense to being repeatedly told to not smoke the older gentleman kept running his mouth and only escalating the situation, cursing at the guy and basically trying to be intimidating to him. I thought it was weird as he just looked like some out of shape Dad that was there with his friends and he did not look like the type to get all testosterone'd out and run his mouth at a confrontation.

Now, the guy DID NOT deserve to get punched in no way, shape or form. But he also completely mishandled the situation and should have, being the older, wiser gentleman simply walked away or at the very least attempted to calm the hispanic guy down instead of antagonizing him.

It was a highly shitty situation as the folks right behind us who we'd made friends with from Philly and STL had to get blood cleaned off their seats.

Long story short though...shitty situation and I hope that dude went to jail.

Has nobody mentioned the girl in that area being assaulted BEFORE the fight? I think thats more important.
