Really? I wasn't expecting him to be there. It could be interesting though.

    Hahha.

Yeah...when I was trying to imagine who it might be, he wasn't on my radar or list. Pretty cool though..I can't say I am a huge fan...but I certainly think he'd be cool to see

now that just seems bizarre. interesting but bizarre.

to go even further off-topic, i found a festival i'd like to go to in Montreal and depending on how the money goes...

    http://www.osheaga.com

Ben Harper and Damian Marley are headlining. Not to mention Sonic Youth and Flaming Lips!

    Joseph Arthur is also playing.

I'm trying to win tickets. if i can get free tickets then i can probably find a way there. so far all i've won is tickets to the Metric show at UNB in September.

Interesting matchup, especially politically. The Stones came out pretty hard against Bush a year or so ago. Alright, who's gonna cover Bushleaguer ??!!!
  • Hey lanners, did you notice you had the 666th post ?! I'm only supersticious if it involves someone else...LOL.

Just a couple not-Halifax-related PJ notes : Here's Bob Probert's(mauler for the Detroit R. Wings) take on music during a comical Q&A:

    "What do you like music-wise?

I was at a Pearl Jam concert in Toronto. Stuff like that, older rock and roll."

You can read the article here, which is pretty funny....

Also, today on 102.1 The Edge people were calling about their complaints, and someone went on for a while about ticketbastard and what a bunch of A-holes they are. The announcer then interjects and says " wait a minute, we've got Eddie vedder on line two...." (a joke of course)
  • Anyone ever notice the drastic change between Breath live(ie: Halifax) and the sudio version. Wow, the live version is soooo much better. I will say, though, that Eddie gives 'er shit on the studio version and makes it interesting to listen to. The tempo is much better live.

i hadn't noticed that i was 666. guess it's not too bad luck...so far today i won a $20 gift certificate for a restau in town, two tickets to see Metric, and $2 on a scratch ticket!! unless my luck is all evil-willed, in which case i'm fuct. ;)

(wow...i just noticed that everything i won has the number 2 in it. three x two=six. oh oh. i think i might be fuct.) ;)

As for Breath...it was a surprise (couldn't have been more shocked if they had played Leash) and it was awesome. what made it so great for me was that it was on my brother's list of three songs he wanted to hear (we each had a list...he won because i didn't get to hear Crazy Mary or Black) and the look on his face was priceless. can't say that i've ever seen him quite so happy!

i was surprised at the sound quality of the songs and just how smooth they were. i guess for most of the live shows i've been to the bands have been a little rough around the edges or the soundsystem hasn't been the greatest. i have to say kudos to the sound guys. take a bow because it was unreal.

PJ probably has one of the best live sounds in the biz. U2 is pretty darn cool as well...even if you don't like them. Awesome sound.

is it just me or does Mike play an Alice in Chains riff @ the end of breath on the Halifax boot? (it aint like that?)

I really really really really really really, really hope they play somewhere to the true east of Canada sometime again soon, thankfully keef & his merry band of pirates are coming back

    cheers,

During the whole Halifax show, I looked back and around the arena...and people were hopping from the front of the stage, to the skyboxes. It was a great thing to see. And I will admit, going into the show, I wasn't sure how the crowd would react. We should be proud of ourselves, because I think we were one of the best crowds on tour.

The show I saw in Newfoundland was similar band wise, but a lot of the crowd was sitting down..and that deflated my experience a little bit. I would have thought the Newfoundlanders would have been a little crazier. (Or maybe it was a letdown because I had just met all the members of Pearl Jam before the show). Hhahahaha. Yes..I will throw that in any chance I get! ;-)

Couldn't agree more about the crowd. The show I saw in Hartford a couple months ago was great but the crowd was really below average IMO. There were people talking to us about how they hoped no newer songs were played, people were sitting down and just seemed less than enthused to be there (like the guy beside me who seemed pissed at how much me and my buddy were rockin out and singing all the words). I still had a great time but shows are so much better when the crowd projects a real sense of love towards the band, ala TO 2003 and Hali 2005 for me.

I also agree on the crowd. Even at the mighty Boston shows this tour I noticed alot of people sitting down, who me and me friends most definately pissed off with our shouting and whatnot. We weren't in the 10 club section, so that may explain it.

Even so, no seats were being used in Halifax. I was very impressed with the crowd, and it seems like Pearl Jam were as well. One more reason for them to come back.

i think that they should stop playing in all the same places they always play and spread out to some more "remote" places. sounds to me like some of these places may have become jaded over time and maybe they aren't as appreciative as some of the lesser visited cities.

    IMO.

  • It would be sweet if pearl jam played halifax on new years. Pretty much everyone in halifax would go. It is new years and there is not much better to do in halifax.

yeah, it's too bad they're already playing in Hawaii.

    oh to be in Hawaii.

if i win 649 i'll be there with bells on! i will devote a large portion of my winnings to following the band around the world.

Ah...Ive been away too long..I figured I'd pop back on and see that a show was scheduled before the Europe tour ;-)

    But alas...bump time.

Things are boring on the concert rumor front now. Ugh. Back to reality.

Seems the Stones aren't bringing in the numbers they had anticipated.

Bring in Pearl Jam instead! :D

Yeah...I guess the Stones are at 45000 or 50000...pretty strong numbers if you ask me..especially since they played here a year ago. Besides...the last week will show an increase in tickets...since some will wait for weather forecasts and such. (as I would if I was going)

Seems the Goo Goo Dolls are here in November. Not sure if I will go or not..but I do like some stuff.

Not to mention all the university kids will be back with all their fresh student loan money. Aren't there like 3-4 universities in Halifax alone. That's probably a big reason why Kanye was added to the bill.

As an aside, I was heading to catch the boat to Dartmouth from work and I saw at least 3 guys with Pearl Jam tour shirts on. I am guessing they were heading to the NOFX show/Punk festival in Dartmouth. Nice to see regardless. It's funny...I realized that I absolutely do not look like a Pearl Jam fan.
  • that depends on what a pearl jam fan looks like. I remember being in at the Halifax show and seeing all shapes/sizes/colors/ages of people. It was one big melting pot of people.
