"Excellent !", he says, in his scariest maniacal evil-dictator voice. First its PJ in Halifax, and then world domination.... Broooohaaahaahaaa. "Hey Mini-Me, did you renew those 10 C memberships ???!!!"

the atiken center is probably to small for pearl jam thats why i brought up saint john as a more realistic thought for a peal jam show. although it sucks that a city with 12000 university students during the school year gets boned for concerts. the best big shows here in the last couple of years wer collective soul, bryan adams and willie nelson which were all really great shows but kind of artists no longer at the peak of their poularity unlike pearl jam. so i would like to see us get some more top name talent here.
Maybe because the Aitken Centre is a terrable venue for a concert, It is basically one large piece of cement, with chairs, horrible sound, and a staff that won't let you stand.. I Hate it and often drive to Saint John, Halifax, or Moncton. Fredericton has tons of great music, but Freddy needs a better live venue for large shows. My ultimate PJ experience would be the Fredericton playhouse..that would be cool..But considering this thread is called Halifax 2006, we should put all of our collective powers into getting Eddie and the Boys to Halifax.
  • agreed 100% but something closer where i could stand in line for tickets insted of having a four hour fight to get though on the phone and nearly having a breakdown, ha ha

The Moncton Coliseum is basically the same thing. It's like listening to music in a tin can. Someday, someone at City Hall is going to have to grow some balls and put the wheels in motion for the construction of a new arena in Moncton. I think the city has certainly outgrown the usefulness of the Coliseum. As I've stated before I often prefer to go to Metro Centre for shows if I have a choice.

you know, i had written out a continuation to your story but decided that it paled in comparison to the impromptu and awesomeness of your post.

so, on that note...BWAAAA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA *cough* HA HA HA!

How about the bandstand in what's left of downtown Sackville (NB not NS), or perhaps the Midgic Convention Centre and Airport facility?

  • G'day,

A shameless bump for the Halifax thread.

    They boys will be back.

To the person who said for the band to learn "Barrett's Privateers", I couldn't agree more!!!! That would be sick if Ed threw that into a Daughter jam, or something crazy like that. The Metro Center would immediately become an outdoor ampitheatre. You can't get much more Maritimes than that tune. And its on the Keith's commercials (or used to be)........Ed likes Kieths.........its destiny.

See you all at the Metro Center.
    Later,
    -Mitch

  • I would have loved to have seen Metric but I was working both nights that they were playing in Halifax and Fredericton. Maybe I'll have to go see the Dropkick Murphy's tomorrow to make up for it.

    And ?.......

    man, this is embarassing...

i didn't make it to the show. my niece's 5th birthday party was yesterday and i spent the afternoon chasing 3-5 year old girls around the backyard and trying to keep them from fighting over My Little Pony and Polly Pocket dolls. by the time i got home i was exhausted so i took a nap and woke up feeling like ASS! i called my friend who was going to go with me and she was still hungover from friday night and feeling more like ASS than i was. we hummed and hawed over the whole thing and decided not to go. she's going to see the Dropkick Murphys in Moncton tonight and wanted to be well rested for it, and i'm going to see the Stones in Halifax on the weekend, so i was okay with not going last night...

...although i don't want to hear a word about the show. i don't want to kick myself for not going, or have any regrets.
    i. am. mine.
  • I really wanted to see metric but i had to work I might try to see sloan next friday before i go to halifax if i have time. but i can't wait for nex weekend between the hockey games and the stones concert the city is going to be totally jamed it should be a blast.

if you spot someone curled up in the fetal position on the perimeter of the site, that will be me. i hate crowds.

next weekend is going to be ridiculous! have to drive to hali, try to get a good night's sleep, meet up with old friends i haven't seen in a decade, go to the concert, survive the concert, get some sleep and go to the Word on the Street festival to meet up with my mentor then drive back.

i get tired just thinking about it.

i really wish Pearl Jam was going to be there though.

  • this weekend is going to be awsome two hockey games and hopfully getting out in time to catch some of the sones by the way whats the word on the street fest?

I had a "Pearl Jam in Halifax" dream the other night out of nowhere...

PJ were coming! I got tickets and it was at this shady "jessica simpson-boots were made for walking video" type country bar... and the show didnt even sell out. I was sitting at my table with some strangers who had no interest in the band. I remember thinking how suprised I was that the bar was only half full!

Anyway, PJ went on this small bar stage and EV started telling stories but nobody was listening. They started playing and someone threw a frisbee on stage and EV threw it back HARD into the crowd pissed off. Then about 7 songs in, someone requested a song that wasnt even a PJ song (I think it was Blind Melon's "No Rain")... EV and the band just said F*** this and walked out. And I sat there thinking "well shit, there goes the chances of them coming back again".

True Dream. or rather nightmare.... Now I realize it wasnt real, and PJ still MIGHT come back someday! ;)
    ..................
    Halifax, Summer 2008... they return!
  • Bump for PJ in Halifax
  • Hard to believe that epic night happened almost a year ago, I can still remember it as if it was yesterday, especially when I listen to it.
Here's hopin' they come back soon, would love to hear the new stuff live, and some favorites we missed last time (black and last exit to name 2).
So basically, here's a "happy anniversary" to the best concert I've ever seen.

the_lemon thanks for bumping this thread up!!!

i can't believe it's been almost a year. tomorrow is the big day and i think that i might have to have a PJ fest with my brother when i get to Halifax tomorrow night.

keep the bumping up! after reading a post from Decides2Dream about pleading with the band to play Man of the Hour at a certain European show in memory of a lost father and hearing that the band played it at the show, i really have faith that one day (god knows when) they will be back.
    i. am. mine.
  • i WOULD HATE TO THINK THAT WE DID ALL OF THIS WORK FOR THE LAST YEAR FOR NOTHING. THEY BETTER COME BACK AND PLAY WE DESERVE IT FOR THE LACK OF GOOD CONCERTS WE GET AROUND HERE. ALTHOUGH THE STONES AND PEARL JAM LAST YEAR DID OPEN THE DOOR FOR ALOT MORE GREAT BANDS TO COME THIS WAY.

COME BACK SOON AND I WILL BUY A CASE OF KEITHS FOR YOU.
  • Dear Pearl Jam, if you come back I will buy you a case of moosehead.
