The guy has quite a few purchases on ebay but it is all skateboard crap. I do not think he is a scalper but the rules are the rules. I appreciate the club and the availability of good tickets. In the day of Ticketmaster and auctions it's not getting any easier to get a good seat in LA. I was reading in a forum that the ticket brokers atually pay people $20.00 to "pull" tickets as they go on sale. Joe Blow is at work making a living at 10:00 AM on Thursday when they go on sale.
I took my son and my best bud to the shows here in LA and would not have missed them for the world. I think the guy needs to find a real Doctor.
You know I can't blame them though. I had an extra ticket for Chicago and I started a couple of threads on here to offer them. I ended up finding another member that had another extra ticket for a different night and we traded, but nobody was interested in the extra ticket I had.
And besides how fuckin boring is your life that you browse the internet looking for something to bitch about.
Supply and demand....deal with it. The very first tickets I bought to see PJ were purchased through a broker. They were grass seats at summerfest in 95. They were probably $15 or $20 at the time and I paid $50 a piece. And I didn't have a problem paying that much for them cause I wanted to see the show.
And if the guy is gonna make some cash off the deal, well good for him. He could probably use the money if he is having medical problems. Are you gonna bitch about the tickets PJ is selling on ebay too. The last I looked those were going for more than four grand.
Your just pissed the tickets weren't given to you.
Okay I am done ranting now.
Exactly. Why should he try to find a 10c member to sell them to? For one, they can get their own tix through the club and two, if someone is willing to pay that much cash, they must really want to see this band. This way, the people who want to see PJ the most (and the cash to back it..haha) get to.
Sometimes when we really like a band, we go blind trying to support what they support. Some things just don't matter when it's over in the corner.
I can agree with you that Pearl Jam t-shirts are a rip off at 28 bucks, but then so are the 32 dollar Bruce Springsteen shirts. There is no legitimate reason why a t-shirt should be more than 15-20 bucks.
As for scalper apologists on this thread: Remember the scalpers are not making money off the BAND, they are making money off the FAN that is desperate to get the ticket. Its fucking wrong, immoral and in many places illegal. Why do you think the vast majority of states have anti-scalper laws? or for ex WC 2006 which had some of the strictest anti-scalping measures. If you are a business you dont want your fans to get fucked by these leeches. Now I can understand your point that the band pisses you off with this or that corporate attitude, but do be pissed off because they are trying to put the scalpers out of business? I dont get it.
Finally- I think threatening to report the dude to his job/track him down is a little bit out of line, you talking about fucking with his livelyhood, even though he might have really pissed you off, but I think thats just stepping over the line.
one last point- the reason PJ tells you that that this amount goes to charity is that maybe this will get you interested in that charity, or spreading the word about the charity, why do you think Ed takes time at almost each show to talk about the charity for that show, to give you a piss break??

...I don't give a shit how much they charge for merchandise.
...You have failed to give me a reason as to why I care if someone sells tickets on eBay.
...I agree that tracking this humanoid down is a lame idea.
...I have been to many PJ shows over the years and not once has EV said a word about charity. I have heard him mention them on bootlegs of select shows.
...I don't piss during the show, I leave during YL.

Because the venue takes a 30% cut. Then the promotor takes a 30% cut. Then the band gets to use the remaining 40% to pay the crew, management, and themselves.

This is how I know that you too, are a smart fan.
Nothing beats hanging out by the door during YL and being one of the first to get to your car.
Fuck waiting in traffic so I can be close while I hear a song that I have heard many times and don't even think is all that great.
