No, I can read just fine. I'm simply saying that you have yet to give me a reason that I would care if someone sells tickets on eBay. Try again.

Getting seats in the 1st, 1st, 5th, 5th and 2nd rows this tour is a treat for $20.......it amounts to $2 extra per ticket, and I don't have to worry about getting the tix thru ticketmaster.

In this case, we need to show concern over other's actions......a few bad apples can spoil it for the masses.

No one is saying they are perfect...they are merely pointing out that someone is acting contrary to club policy, which obviously isn't a life/death situation, however, it is something that could effect 10C ticketing in the future.

There is nothing wrong with worrying about other's actions if you are effected by said actions.

Worrying about peoples private lives and invading other's privacy is what is fucked up with society, but self-policing is needed by society at times!

It's not a treat, it's a service, no matter what the cost.

Pearl Jam does not pay me, nor do they provde some service in trade for me being their police force.

Theres much more important things to worry about than who sells tickets where.

    I second that.

But I could care less with what someone else does with their tickets in their supposed home town.
  • Why might we lose it? I thought the 10 clubbers had a say?

Oh, that's right... you don't... you are paying for a service... they set the rules

Yeah, like defending scalpers and arguing with those of us who want to keep 10c as clean and pure as possible, right?

I "get" what you are saying. I just don't live in a la la dream world where a group of 5 rich guys give a shit about me.

I pay for music. They provide music. That's a business deal. They make money off of us, so I could care less if someone makes money off them. I buy my tickets and go to the shows... that's the end of my concern.

If they truely lived by their punk ethos, maybe I would have a different opinion. But punk ethos don't allow for AOL Sessions, Storytellers, etc.... lasers, over priced tickets, over priced merch, over priced bootlegs.

Even Jeff said he wanted to make money. (like he is poor... oh poor Jeff, boo hoo)

My beef isn't with them making money... I am fine with that. I just think it's funny that you all don't see it.

Susan Silver said Pearl Jam's gimmick trying not to have a gimmick... and you all bought in to it.

You are in a great position yet you still don't see how you could be negatively affected by 10c members who scalp their tickets? Let me spell it out for you.

10c members scalp more and more of their tickets.
10c staff notices this and informs the band.
    The band gets pissed off.
10c no longer sells tickets to Pearl Jam shows.
You are back online with every other fan trying to get tickets through Ticketmaster.

Now do you understand the issue as it can affect honest 10c members?

First off, the band isn't going to stop TC seats. That's where they make their money with people who go to many shows.

They would be back to playing theaters if it weren't for the 10C.

The 10C tickets aren't going anywhere.

You'd do well to read this thread http://forums.pearljam.com/showthread.php?t=205721&highlight=fugazi+eddie It's a blurb by Ian McKaye of Fugazi, who Ed has praised as one of his heroes. If you don't think this band cares about us then we need to call in an exorcist because you're way too lost for any of us to help you.
  • what about pro sports season ticket holders selling their tickets for higher prices. happens all the time. don't really think that it will end all season ticket sales, just as one guy selling his 10c tickets won't stop 10c ticket sales. Most people in the 10c I'm sure go to the shows, so this isn't a problem. I know that if I couldn't get 10c tix, and someone was selling them for a price I'd pay, I'd be happy they were available. I'm a fan. I want to see the band. Plain and simple.

I am more than aware of who Ian is, since he is a local fixture in this town. That doesn't change the fact that Pearl Jam nor Ed give a shit about me.

Ian, the other older school punk guys... they get it. They live it. Ian lives in a small house in Mt Pleasant, and still uses his mothers address for the Dischord label... He gets it.

I saw Ian at the Pearl Jam show, he and his girlfriend Amy Farina (who is in the Evens with Ian, and was in a band called the Warmers, also on Dischord) were there and were side stage. Doesn't mean Ed gives a fuck about me.

His sister runs http://www.fortreno.com, which are a local series of free shows. They get it.

Pearl Jam.. are a corporate rock band, plain and simple. Ed and goo and gaa over Ian and all the other punks as much as he likes... but gooing and gaaing about punk ethos, are not the same as living punk ethos.

When PJ get off the private jet, when they lower ticket prices (which is easy to do, take less of a cut Mr. Millionare Vedder), when they lower merch, when they take advantage of technology to distribute bootlegs instead of selling them (or at least sell them for a decent rate, a double disc Fugazi record is 10 bucks, postage paid)... then I will listen to him rant about punk ethos and take him seriously.

Easily the most idiotic post I've ever seen in my life. Pearl Jam can sell out damn near anywhere they choose. I for one would see just as many shows as I do now even if 10C didn't exist. It's sad that you can't realize this is about music. Sure, I love my 10C seats and I'm very grateful for them. I do see it as generosity from the band. But to be honest, once the show starts I don't care where I am as long as I'm in the building. I'm certainly not seeing more shows based on my seats. I love this band and I love their music and even if you refuse to believe it, they love us too. I fucking met them two years ago and had long converstations with some of them. They care about us and want to do what they can for us. It is absolutely NOT about money.

You really wouldn't care having to fight for halfway decent tickets for any Pearl Jam show on Ticketmaster? Well you are a strange 10c member indeed. Most of us would care very much, I can guarantee you that.

You know what is so interesting about Sonic Reducr's posts is that he never went to a PJ concert until 2000 so he doesn't even know what we true PJ fans had to go through to get tickets back in the early days. Too say that PJ is a corporate band is so cynical and ignorant that its actually funny. This last album has had the most commercialization since the band came out-and I believe its because they want more exposure to spread some knowledge about the political situation of our country today-not to make money. If you ever been to Eddie's town its not like if your in Beverly Hills. Granted I'm sure he lives a nice life but he should reap the benefits of his success. I know that he deserves to be where he's at because of hard work and all the help he's given to his fans by always being there for them with all the great music he keeps coming out with. Besides the benefits we get from 10C are amazing. You could never get those benefits frm the U2 or RHCP club especially for 20 bucks!

Well it's cute that you think they care about us. I will continue to pay for their services and that will be that.

Wow, it's quite sad (and idiotic) that you think it's not about money when they charge 50 bucks for a ticket.

Finally, some sanity. Great post Mickey. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that we get more for our $20 than any other $20 we could ever even think about spending on anything else.

It's not hypothetical. It's historical. Haven't you ever purchased tickets to any show for any band without having the luxury of a fan club wiping your ass and making sure you get great seats?

For $20 you could buy a poster at a show and flip it on eBay for three times face...but that petty arguement shall be saved for another day.

You've done nothing but bitch about Pearl Jam and their ethics, their money, and blah, blah, blah in every damn one of your posts? Why even come here then? Doesn't it get old complaining and arguing? Just curious.

Anyways...It doesn't matter how much money Pearl Jam makes or what Ten Club charges...The fact remains that Ten Club tickets are for members to have a shot at great seats and to enjoy the show. Ten Club isn't a fucking vendor for other's scalping habits. Whether you choose to care about something further out than yourself isn't the issue either. The real issue is that profiting off of Ten Club tickets is wrong and the original poster was only seeking to do the right thing for a situation that he stumbled upon. It really doesn't matter if any of us want to prevent scalping of Ten Club tickets or turn a blind eye and mind our own business. The issue is only about what is right and wrong, and turning a blind eye to what's wrong is fine, if that is how you choose to live your life. Although, turning a blind eye can speak a million words concerning our society....But doing the right thing doesn't deserve ridicule or mockery under any circumstance. In my opinion, all the ridicule that people do receive from the select people with self-centered attitudes and compacency towards others keeps some from doing the right thing. There is right and there is wrong, and morals are wonderful thing to have. It's just too bad that so many people can only care about themselves and either contribute to what's wrong or just walk right on by it.
