if no crime was committed, then the hearings are yet another waste of time and american money.

ken starr spent $46 million of your tax dollars for nothing. the same thing might occur here. i want the deficit hawks to condemn it if it happens. but they won't, because they are republicans, and the president is a democrat.

    WHAT CRIME WAS COMMITTED?

Why lie if there was no crime? One crime would be blaming that poor film maker just to cover his ass....why was he covering his ass? That is why we are having hearings.
pray tell, what crime has been committed?

blaming a film maker is NOT a crime.

unethical, yes. despicable, yes. crime, no.

Unethical, yes. Did the administration purposefully lie so that the American public wouldn't think this was a planned terrorist attack that would hurt Obama's chances at reelection? You don't care about that? I do and I voted for him. I don't think he should be impeached or anything like that or that it's the "greatest tragedy in my life" as Dick Cheney said, but it is disappointing.

yes it concerns me, but after 8 years of the daily shit sandwich of lies from the bush administration i have come to expect lies from every administration going forward. i am not saying that in any sort of flippant or proud manner, but come on. administrations lie. just one of bush's lies cost a million lives. for the republicans to take advantage of these dead in this case is galling. they are using the victims as pawns in the game that they started playing on the day obama was first sworn in. that game is called "damage the president at all costs". mitch mcconnell could not make him a one term president, so issa and boehner are going all in in an attempt to impeach him and damage hillary so badly that she can not run in 2016, and it is fucking disgusting. i am pissed that benghazi happened, but even more pissed at the dog and pony show being put on by the gop.

and for dick cheney of all people to call this the greatest tragedy in his life just goes to show that the man is a fucking sociopath. he can make all kinds of excuses and justifications for sending 4500 american soldiers to their deaths, and with a straight face say that 4 americans dying in libya is a bigger tragedy than that. :fp:

I agree. Our leaders have more important things to spend their time and money on.

You do remember that Clinton lied to a grand jury right? you know, perjury...the same thing that put Martha Stewart in prison...I don't really think there needed to be an investigation into it in the first place, but I think the Lewinsky thing gets played off too easily sometimes. He committed perjury and didn't even get a fine...why don't you try that and see what happens...

But this isn't about Clinton, Bush or anyone else, it is about President Obama's administration. I think the truth should be found, but not to hang anyone, just to figure out if something could be done differently at our embassies around the world...it would be nice if the Administration had come out and said the real reason terrorist groups keep trying to kill Americans and it has zero to do with videos...but no admin will ever admit to that.

you are right, he was found not guilty. Doesn't mean he didn't lie to investigators and the American people..."I did not have sexual relations with that woman" The republicans needed a two thirds majority and had only 55 senators.

in my other comment I was referring to American military presence in the middle east as the reason they continue to attack us, not just calling it a terrorist attack after it happened.

Never forget and never let Republicans forget that this was their original response to Benghazi.

The smirk. Romney's campaign looked at Benghazi as a gift. Their response from the very beginning was to politicize the deaths of those Americans. I cannot get too upset with Obama's administration for playing politics when this was what his opposition was up to from the very beginning.

    Charles Krauthammer's take:

“But the one advice I give to Republicans is stop calling it a huge scandal,” Krauthammer said. “Stop saying it’s a Watergate. Stop saying it’s Iran-Contra. Let the facts speak for themselves. Have a special committee, a select committee. The facts will speak for themselves. Pile them on but don’t exaggerate. Don’t run ads about Hillary. It feed the narrative for the other side that it’s only a political event. It’s not. Just be quiet and present the facts.”

Politics has become a spectator sport here. We root for one side and against the other. I am sometimes guilty of it myself. Beyond that it is a combination of everything you mentioned. People cherry pick their indignation based on who is at fault/who can be blamed. There is an irrational hatred of Obama that has existed since he took office. There was also an irrational hatred of Bush in some circles but it was not on this level.
