I've just noticed that iTunes lists the genre for Act 2 as "Europop"! Surely that's far more of a crime than Lightning Bolt's first track being listed as 'Getwaway'... :D

I had the following response from Joe's management team over the weekend:
    Hey Chris -

Sorry for the delay at responding.

We actually released Act 2 digitally for free to anyone who Pledged earlier this week and it will get a proper release in the USA on Black Friday (Nov 29th) thru Indie Retailers.

Both Act 1 and Act 2 are available now as a double vinyl in Europe.

We omitted songs from the vinyl due to the length - vinyl sides can only be a certain length and we had to cut one song from Act 1 and two songs from Act 2 in order to make everything fit and sound optimal.

Hope this answers some of your questions and sorry if you are disappointed in anything -- it was certainly not our intention.

    Kind regards,
    Peter
PJ_Soul has your double vinyl arrived yet? I'm just wondering what songs they left off it? It's still my favourite album of the year but it's a real shame they butchered it by leaving 3 songs off the vinyl

Okay, got the album (hear that 10c?? already got it all the way from Europe! Still waiting on LB :problem: )

The missing songs are I Miss the Zoo from Act 1 and Travel As Equals and Mystery of Mysteries (is that the title?) from Act 2.... Can't say I really mind. Still such a great double album! The jacket is identical in appearance to Act 1 pretty much BTW, aside from this multicoloured bar on the spine. It comes with an mp3 download that includes the missing songs. Oh, Nd It's Okay to be Young is now listed on the right side of the disc. Sounds great! :) I always trust JA vinyl to sound perfect! (aHEM, 10c?? :problem: )

I guess it makes sense that I Miss The Zoo and Travel As Equals were cut as they were both on Redemption City, but the acoustic TAE is amazing! What's the title of the 3rd song? I don't have Mystery of Mysteries listed (and I don't know the lyrics well enough yet to pick it)

Sorry, not Mystery of Mysteries. Whisper of Whispers. 10th track on the download. Hey, I was close.

Holy fucking shit. I'm more amazed each time I see Joseph Arthur. Just came back from the NYC show at City Winery. Even more awesome, Mike Mills was on bass. Joe and Mike, along with Bill Dobrow on drums make up "The New Professionals", such a pleasure to watch. I had a big smile plastered on my face the entire night. Great way to kick off 2014 :)

If you have not seen Joseph Arthur, do yourselves a favor and go see him next time he's in town.

I am praying he comes near me so that I can!
Did he do a painting while singing on stage like he did in that show he posted on YouTube? I thought that was pretty cool. :)

Whenever I listen to 'In The City' from Act 2 I can't help singing "In the city there is cake" instead of "grace".

Still the best album of 2013 (even if I've ruined the final song!)

Definitely right up there. My second fave of 2013 after ...Like Clockwork. I keep wondering why hardly anyone even knows who JA is. Even the guy at the record store had no idea. It's vexing. I want him to be super popular just so that he gets the recognition he deserves and can stop struggling with money. He's so talented, he ought to at least be rich. :P

It would be awesome if Joe had more recognition, he really deserves it. Maybe, now that PJ are back in the public spotlight, some more RNDM releases would help...

On the other hand, it's also kinda nice having him to ourselves. Like a best kept secret :)

Ha ha, if I was filthy rich I'd probably try to buy a ton of his paintings (and I would have loved the painted guitar that was on the Pledge list).

When he played in Sydney a couple of years back he was selling the painting that he did on stage after the show (not sure if he sells the painting at all of his shows or if it was just because he couldn't transport it back to the US?). I think they were asking $500 for it - I had to settle for a bunch of CDs instead!

  • OK I'm a bit slow on the uptake, I hadn't listened to anything by Joseph Arthur since In The Sun - when it was on an aftershave advert about ten years ago.....I've seen you guys on here talking about this record from time to time, so I thought I'd give it a listen, and I'm very quickly falling in love. There's a bit towards the end of All The Old Heroes when a woman's voice seeps through the mix, and it is absolutely sublime. I've also had I Miss The Zoo on repeat for a fair while....It's always cool to unexpectedly discover an amazing record from out of nowhere :)
