 Hmmmm..... Not so great for me at all after two listens. I think it might be the worst JA song ever for me. :? Plus, I think it has a real similarity to another (better) one of his songs, but I can't quite place my finger on it. Anyone?

That's quite a statement! I'm not sure about it being the worst ever but I agree he can do better. Maybe it's just because I'm comparing it to the rest of Boogie Christ that it doesn't sound as good. I'm interested to see how it fits with the mood of Boogie 2 though, it may sound better as part of the whole record.
On another (greedier) note, I was watching the tour rehearsal videos for Currency Of Love and Saint of Impossible Causes earlier and I'd really like to hear an acoustic version of the whole Boogie Christ record. I know that the emphasis is on the big production and it's a real change for Joseph but I think these songs would sound great if they were all acoustic (kinda like his Daytrotter session).
Maybe he'll do a John Frusciante and release an acoustic version of the album on his website as a thank you

Yes, great idea! In fact, I think most of Josephs songs are better live with just him, the guitar and the loopstations... With exceptions of course.
Give a monkey a brain and he'll swear he's the center of the Universe...
.... Not in love with the first slow part. Glad it picked up.
But to be honest, not too impressed with the first 2 songs from the upcoming album. I can hardly believe I'm saying that - JA can normally do no wrong as far as I'm concerned.

Damn...you beat me to it...
Although I don't think they are as good as anything off of Act 1...but that's only because that album is almost flawless. Both songs have a good feel to them...but just more forgettable....still pumped for this album though...didn't realize it was almost it's release date.

you can buy it digitally at real world records and for 23 bucks you can buy a double cd copy.
Oh really?? Wow, how'd I miss that (even though I will hold out for the vinyl)??? Joseph Arthur's homepage mailing list failed big time. they should be mailing that kind of info to their members! No wonder JA's broke, with that kind of marketing.

It's disappointing that we haven't heard anything about Act 2 on vinyl yet. I would have expected something by now, either from one of JA's social media pages or from the Pledge mailing list.

I'm kind of feeling confused by how this is being released. Suddenly Acts 1 & 2 are the same double album on CD and digitally?? Well, how are they releasing the vinyl then? Will Act 2 be released separately? Or will I have to buy a double album even though I already own Act 1? And why no news on it? Who releases the CD way before the vinyl? I will be disappointed if they chose not to put it on vinyl or something.... :? I emailed them asking about it. Will post if they reply.

"Act 1 and 2 will be released as a double vinyl in Europe, thru our label, Real World Records.
I don't believe it will be available for another month - vinyl always takes a little longer. I would just stay tuned to http://www.josepharthur.com for an update as to when it will be available for purchase.
Just so you know, Act 2, will be available in North America starting on Black Friday....November 29th. It will only be on CD for the time being though.
Hope this helps - thanks for the interest!"
So I replied and said thank you, and mentioned that it was a shame that we'd have to buy an album twice to get Act 2, and he said:
"Well we still may press up Act 2 vinyl to be honest - just trying to rush and get the CD in time for Record Store Day right now."
:? Isn't RSD on April 20th?? Anyway, I then just replied to say thanks again, and he said:
"yea it's a great opportunity for Act and will be exclusive to the indie retail stores - it will be all new artwork too, different cover, etc. We'll be posting info about it soon."
K. :P Not even quite sure what he's talking about here.... Like, is he talking about Act 2 on vinyl, or Is he just talking about the CD for RSD (I would never buy a CD)? I dunno. I guess he's just gushing about the CD release for RSD? Anyway, very strange. Why in the world wouldn't they want to release vinyl for RSD?? And why wouldn't they release it at the same time as the CD? Why why why? I don't know who is making decisions in this matter, but whoever it is, they aren't doing a very good job IMHO. Sigh. Oh well. What is kind of annoying is that since they won't even make a real decision on whether or not Act 2 will be released in North America, I will probably have to buy the European double album because I'll be worried that if I wait until they know about NA the Euro one will sell out and become hard to find and more expensive, and then they'll decide not to press it for us. Weak.

That's pretty shitty to be honest. It sucks that, after there was so much support for the Pledge campaign, we got an incomplete Act 1 on vinyl and might not even get Act 2. They should at least make Act 2 vinyl available to the people that bought Act 1 through the Pledge campaign.

Has anyone heard anything weird about JA?? I'm starting to wonder wtf is going on with him. His marketing scheme just completely fell apart with Act 2, which is not normal for him at all with a new album, and he also hasn't posted once on his Bag Is Hot blog since July.... I am really starting to think that he's having issues of some kind. :(

One more pledge update from the road of the Boogie Christ European tour.
This year has been quite a ride and I’m glad that you have all been along with me for it. Thank you again for the support and the faith and I hope that you love and enjoy the record.
I wanted to let you know that as a way to celebrate the success of the pledge campaign and to thank you all again for your support, we are offering ACT 2 as a free download to all pledgers. Many people have asked me about it on the road and so here it is. I really hope you enjoy it!
We will also be releasing this as a single disc to coincide with the original version in the USA on Black Friday (November 29th), exclusively thru independent retailers.
So far this tour has been crazy, grueling, awesome, insane, wacky, full of love, fun, and depth. There have been some ups and downs but mostly ups, and in the end my faith in the path of music and bringing it to life is restored and rejuvenated.
As hard as life on the road can be, it’s also really fun and the main thing is that I get the feeling I’m doing the work I’m put here to do. That’s no small gift and I have you all to thank for it.
Anyway, I guess that about wraps it up. It’s been a hell of a journey and a lot of work, but in the end I think a very rewarding experience. I can’t thank you enough.
We are going to be closing down this pledge campaign in the coming week so you have one last chance to get some of these unique and exclusive items.
Currently, we are on the Boogie Christ European tour. Please take a few minutes and check out the tour dates here: www.josepharthur.com/2012/tour/
I’m in Europe until November 9th and start back up in the USA on November 27th in Akron, OH. Spread the word and come on out to a see a show. I would love to see you and we’ve been having a blast bringing Boogie Christ to life every night!
Thanks again to each and every one of you. It has meant and continues to mean the world.
Your friend,
Joseph Arthur
He is not clear about it, but I don't think the vinyl is being released for RSD. By "disc" i believe he means CD.... that's what the guy from his camp told me anyway, when I emailed him.

I haven't heard anything 'weird' about JA recently, although the marketing of Act 2 (or the double disc) has been strangely muted compared to the build up for Act 1. Maybe that's down to Real World and not JA? He's on tour in Europe and he's just done an art show in Marseille. He's still posting regular photos of the tour and of his paintings on his Instagram page, maybe he doesn't have time to update his blog at the moment with everything that's going on. It's a shame as it's always good to read.
I am really enjoying Act 2. I've listened to it a few times now, on its own and with Act 1. I think they work really well together as a double album, probably better than Redemption City did. I'll probably buy the double LP as well some time soon
