For sure! This guy works a lot and hard - I'm happy to help out. I just wish I could pledge way more, but I can't afford it.

I was just about to start a thread on this - I'm glad to see someone's already onto it! :D I just made my pledge. It's good to see that it's up to 21% already, I really hope Joe reaches his goal.

Here's a bit of info on Boogie Christ that I posted in the Redemption City thread a while back:

I think it’s finally done. 'Redemption City' helped me clarify what that album is all about. There are themes from both albums that overlap, and so 'Redemption City' really took some pressure off of 'Boogie Christ' and now Boogie can breathe. Boogie Christ lives in Redemption City. In my head, 'Redemption City' was actually by Boogie Christ and 'The Ballad of Boogie Christ' is by me and about Boogie Christ. Plus, I had and have the idea that the whole thing could and maybe should be a Broadway musical. I’m sure that sounds like madness, but I went deep inside this concept and again that’s why I believe making 'The Graduation Ceremony' in the middle of all this prevented me from losing my mind.
Apologies for bumping a year-old thread but Joseph just posted a photo of Juliette Lewis singing background vocals on “Saint of Impossible Causes” on the forthcoming Boogie Christ record.

Pledged this morning for a signed 'Boogie' vinyl when there were 13 left and the signed CD copies of 'Boogie' were "All Gone." Both have been restocked w/ max quantities of forty. Glad the drive is progressing well.

It really just seems like a pre-sale, doesn't it? I feel bad that JA seems to feel uncomfortable with doing this, as though he's asking for charity. He shouldn't feel that way - everyone who pledges gets their money's worth out of it. I'm getting a signed boogie album for $35? Awesome, because I payed $40 for my signed copy of The Graduation Ceremony, which I bought off his website!

The first video from Boogie Christ is out... All The Old Heroes

    http://youtu.be/OWv6hzLpmhM

I'm a real sucker for black and white photography anyway but there are some really great shots used in this video (PJ appear at around 6:45 in case you were wondering!) and the song is just awesome.

    Email from Pledge Music/Joseph Arthur:
    Thank you + New Video

    Hey Everyone -

Thanks a million for bringing my project to 90% in only it’s first week!!

We’ve sold out of some of the items and are adding more so please keep checking in and spreading the word about the campaign – every bit helps.

Seeing that this is my first update, I wanted to give you all something special so included with this update is a brand new never-before-seen video to one of the songs from ‘The Ballad of Boogie Christ’ called ’It’s OK to be Young/Gone.’

It is only available to you for the time being, the people who have Pledged, and in addition to the video, I’ve gone ahead and added some of the items featured in the video including several original one-of-a-kind paintings and a small drum kit. Now’s your change to own something that was featured in a soon-to-be legendary music video!

Please continue spreading the word and let’s make it to 200%!

    More updates to come….

    Sincerely,
    Joseph Arthur

(and then a link to another new song, but you have to sign in to PledgeMusic to listen. The song is good! Can't see a title for it, but it may be called "It's Okay".)

Love me some JA! I really enjoy "All The Old Heroes" and the video accompanying it (anyone catch PJ in there?!) Hoping to go to his album release show at the Bowery Ballroom in June, only problem is it's 21+ and I'll be just a few months shy of 21...anyone know how strictly this age limit is enforced?

    100% reached
    Team Arthur Pledgers!

    Well, we did it!
What can I say, except thank you and thank you and thank you again!

I must say this pledge campaign has brought much more than money,
It’s brought a feeling of y’all being my partners and co-conspirators.
I feel so charged by it all
and so inspired by the future model of the music business.
    It’s actually really great;
It’s odd how nerve-wracking and hard it was to ask for help,
but in the asking, I have found a new resource of strength.
I don’t want this to sound too mushy, but it really is quite inspiring
And the money is no small matter either.
    So thank you for digging in and really helping me here;
It inspires me to dig even deeper than I have before.

Which brings me to two pieces of news to report:

Now feels like a great time to announce that
The Ballad of Boogie Christ is actually a three-act concept
that I have spread over three full-length records.
Act One is 12 songs and is coming out June 11.
Act Two is another full-length record, which is set to be released in the fall.
Act Three I want to keep open ended and release it sometime years from now to give the character of Boogie Christ the benefit of time and older age.
I view this project and album as a lifelong kind of deal.

The other news is I’m returning to Real World Records for releasing this in Europe and the UK, which for those of you who don’t know my history,
is the first label I signed with way back in 1995.
Also, as many of you know, it’s a label owned by Peter Gabriel.
I am honored to be back on Real World -
I got a beautiful message from Peter which started out saying, “Welcome home”
and it truly feels that way, like some kind of crazy full circle on this incredible journey I’ve been on. In America, Boogie Christ is still coming out on my own Lonely Astronaut label, which is distributed and operated largely by the incredible people at RED/Megaforce. In Canada, we are excited to be coming out on Bonsound, which will mean more touring up north!

For those of you who may be wondering why we needed to come to Pledge if we have labels the short answer is record deals ain’t what they used to be.
Even some major labels are funding records with Kickstarter and Pledge,
but the labels I just spoke of are there to help us take our investment as far as possible, and distribute the record as far and wide as possible,
and they are all amazing partners in this regard.

    Anyway,
I really am grateful for all the support
I will do my best to be worthy of it.

    Love always and THANKS AGAIN!
    Joseph

    Hey Team Arthur Pledgers!

I wanted to let you know that we’ve introduced a brand new DVD to this Pledge campaign and it is now up for sale.

It’s called the Southern Sessions and was filmed in various hotels across the southern USA in February 2010.

Ehud was my tour manager and he brought all his high end cameras and audio gear and we would set up these intimate acoustic performances in strange little hotels in the south.

It turned out quite special and we figured now was the perfect time to release this gem.

    Here’s a preview clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L125rNM_NXY
