Funny to think that some here had them winning close to 90 games.
http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/phi ... nders.html
actually most of us have them winning about the same amount of games as you (80-84).
I also said I thought they'd struggle to finish .500 (your favorite number). some said they would win 88. and that first place atlanta was most overrated team in division.
but as we know, it's better off to ignore the nonsense that dude throws around
jearlpam said 89 wins, i believe. you wanna insult him too?
i think you just have a hard time agreeing with people. because most everyone in here recognizes that this is a deeply flawed, mediocre baseball team who will most likely teeter around .500 for the whole season, or until the big sell off happens. mid 80's win total is about what most people said in spring training. big deal.www.myspace.com0 -
anyone see this steve carlton piece on deadspin? its from the 1994 philly mag article on him prior to the hof induction. talks about all his....weirdness. pretty amazing article. i'm not old enough to remember much of his time here. didn't realize he wasn't open to picking up a new pitch after he lost some steam off his fast ball. and i knew he was weird...but, wow, this article goes pretty deep into his life.
give it a go when you have the time:

I had the 11th and 12th picks in my fantasy baseball draft. Took Hamels 11th, thought about taking Lee 12th but didn't want to put too much pressure on this shitty Phillies line-up to get me wins, so I went with Johnny Cueto instead. Lee has 240 points so far this year. Hamels and Cueto have combined for 206. Good thing the throw went into CF on his 5th steal(advanced to 3rd), or it would've been 6>0 -

Their baseball program is a great story. Keep winning boys. It's nice to be a fan of a baseball team that's worth a damn (unlike the mlb team I support)0 -

Scoring in my league puts so much emphasis on pitchers though. And my line up is actually among the best in my league and my staff isn't all that bad. It's just Hamels. He's the turd in the punch bowl.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea.
