The team could have reached .500 Wednesday night, but Cliff Lee allowed the Nationals to sit on his fastball and the offense couldn't get much generated against Gio Gonzalez (because the lineup sucks and that's what happens against good pitchers). The Phils are 71/2 games behind the Braves and trail the Cincinnati Reds, who hold the second wild card at the moment, by 61/2 games.
To reach that mythical minimum of 87 wins - which might not be nearly enough - would require playing to a 42-28 record. The Phillies aren't that team anymore. They have gone 126-128 since the start of the 2012 season. That's a reasonable sample and a reasonable representation of what kind of team they are now, regardless of their recent stretch of decent play. By comparison, the Reds need to go 36-35 to reach 87 wins.

And I'm not trying to get on Fixer's case and to be honest, lately I've been welcoming his Howard Hatred because it's one thing to play below the standards of your contract, it's a whole other thing to suck as bad as Howard has this year (and will for the rest of his career presumably). But when you choose "The Fixer" as your username, your opinion of Pearl Jam's music can't be taken too seriously. It's the bottom of the PJ barrel.

Nothing clever about it. Ledbetterman10 was my aol IM username when I was like 15 and I've kept it. And I'm not sure what you mean about old names getting jacked when the site changed. I was able to keep mine. And I can get picking The Fixer as username and then regretting it after hearing the song. I'm sure somewhere there's a Star Wars nerd that made a JarJar username and wasn't too happy with his choice after seeing Episode 1. But you can understand that without knowing that you picked it without hearing it, people would assume it's your favorite song and thus any criticisms of any other song would be moot.
Why not release the album in September to give people some time with the album before the tour starts up? I never got releasing it at the same time.
Also, in case anyone was wondering, do not hit the submit button more than once when shit is all busy.

the more i listen, the more i like it. kinda has a vitalogy but with more metal feel to it..i just think it's kind of an odd choice for the 1st single. i can't imagine any fringe or non fans liking it much. i've already gotten a few texts from people telling me they were let down by it.
hopefully they put out the 2nd song by the end of the summer and play a few new ones in wrigley.
back to the topic of the new song though, i'm digging it a lot.
