Petition to do away with the new ticketing system.

I'm not gonna say anything at the moment cause the new ticketing system hasn't been used yet to it's full potential. AKA East Coast Tour. Will rant later till I find out what the final results are after the lottery is over, for Pearl Jam's 10club Fall USA '13 Ticketing Experience.

No, it occurred to me too. It's not about how they feel about dedicated fans. It's about how they feel about ALL fans. They want a lot of different people to be able to enjoy their concerts. They also want to cultivate their fan base. I think it is good if they think it would be cool to get some new faces there. Share the joy. I am sorry, but it think your outlook is a little bit selfish and PJ fan elitist. I am just as huge a fan as any 10c member, and my membership is only a year old. That doesn't make me less of a fan than you or less deserving of getting good tix. I think that ticket sales should be completely fair for all, and the new system ensures that as far as getting some ticket goes - a step in the right direction... I would also like to see seniority done away with. As it is now, those up front will just get older and older, always the same people, and PJ is effectively telling younger generations or newer fans (i am neither of those btw) that they don't want them or don't value them. Which is crazy on a couple of different levels.In2Deep wrote:100 Pacer wrote:Did it ever occur to anyone that perhaps the reason the lottery is in place (the technology to upgrade & improve on the old system is readily available) is because the band got sick & tired of seeing the same faces up front for a vast majority of shows? It's no secret over the last few years Ed in particular has been left frustrated by this.
And this is coming from someone who is typically up front.
If they feel that way towards to the people who have not only stuck with them since the beginning, but also dedicate a ton of their time and money to travel to see them numerous times, then I have to say they aren't very loyal to their fans to treat their longtime fans that way. Because unlike the people in the back, those up front were there in the beginning, and will most likely be there in the end.
If you really want to believe this lame theory, then maybe associate with the lotto rows, because the lotto ticket system doesn't take those people away. Just like the old system, we're (because I'm one of them) not at every show, and the lotto ticket system doesn't change that, because it won't give us every show we ask for.
I realize that every member with a decent number will disagree with me about getting rid of seniority, so no need to discuss further.... but put it this way: there are a LOT more people out there with higher numbers who will never get good seats than there are people who will get good seats with the seniority system. To me, that's not too cool for the majority of fans or the band. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -

I love this line of thinking. You've been a fan club member the longest, so you're the biggest fan. I'm in front, you're in back, too bad because I'm better.
What do you say to the 20 year olds who never get to be 5th row? Too bad you were born too late? What about the folks that were "living life" and either didn't join right away for one reason or another or did, but lapsed for whatever reason. They are lesser fans that don't deserve PJ's equal respect (Whatever the hell that means.)
Either you want to be here or not. Needing some sort of seniorty carrot to stay is bs. If that's the only reason folks stay, then THEY are the ones that are not the "true" fans that somehow they bestow on others. And if you think you're OWED more b/c of it -
Also, to think only those in the club were "there at the beginning" is

Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -

Could not agree more - just becuase some of us have not been in the club for 20 years does not mean we have not listened to and supported the band for that same amount of time. At the end of the day- I pay the same $20 per year that you do - so as far as I am concerned you can leave your membership number at the door.0 -
yeah i'm one of those fans with the low member number i like the lottery for rows 1&2 and 9&10 , but why should my 3rd row seat just be discarded as if all the dues i have been paying since April 93 not get me that perk anymore ....I say let us have tickets to 1 show with our seniority and 1 only but to just get rid of seniority is not something i would like at all and you know how the band feels about the long time members after all they did pick some long time member for the trip to Amsterdam no ? anyway i'm sick of this topic it's been debated for neons ...jesus greets me looks just like me ....0

So, no taking advantage of your PC saviness, but let me take advantage of MY advantage. Classic.
I say do away with the whole thing, do a TM pre-sale and price the seats at market prices. If you want, you can do what Sting did and have a "legacy" fan club pre-sale, then a "new" fan club pre-sale. That way you "real" fans can get the head start you don't want anyone else having.
For the record - I am fine with the lottery but think the seniority thing is for the birds. Just pointing out the hypocricy of your stances.Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -

Just to add a bit to the discussion...I'm from Brazil and have been lucky enough to go to a lot of concerts in different countries, mostly up front, and am very excited about havin' the chance to attend this next US fall tour, but always had to purchase my tix from Brazil. This last time, buying for Lollapalooza Brazil 2013 I was in Chicago for vacation and had a taste of YOUR broadband highspeed internet...
what they have the courage to call the same thing here, in Sao Paulo, a city as big and crouded as NY, is a joke. A so called speed as high as 50 or 100 megabites is as slow as a turtle. The internet network here and in another countries is not as fast and good as in the US or some parts of Europe, so the old ticketing system was not very fair for everyone.
even when the concert was in some US State, that was someone complaining about not being able to be in front of the computer all day. So lets see how this new one works out.0 -

Hey i'm not a hipocrite i don't go to all the shows i try to hit maybe three shows per tour and you can ask some people here i allways give my spare to a 10C member , but what can i tell you since you are the know it all on all topics ....I'm in the lottery the same as everybody else if i get picked great if not so be it ...jesus greets me looks just like me ....0 -
and I was talking about GA concerts in Brazil, Australia, Europe, Latin america, and festivals in US. Never been to a sitting Rock concert (except Eric Clapton) , a weird concept for a Brazilian...
in the lottery system I wouldn't stand a chance in seniority...before 2005 was never worth it for us in LA to pay for Ten Club (the've never come here) and before I graduated from college I didn't have the money to travel after them LOL.
and there have always been rumours here at the forum about the lottery system not being very fair. Don't know, never participated.0 -

I hope you get shut out.
Yes, I need help, for voicing a dissenting opinion from the whining herd. I see you've sunk to random insults, that's really sad man. Worst part is you are projecting your own feelings about a band member on me... Someday maybe you'll really become Mrs. McCready, until then you can just be his whacko Internet stalker. But that does take a lot of effort, you're probably better off just waiting for him to pick a stalker in a lottery.
I will never be shut out of a show I want to go to, PJ or any performer. See you at wrigley if you can scratch together enough cash to buy tickets.0 -
Lottery > F5

It is pretty ironic that one of the first threads on this board is "Let Your Voice Be Heard ".....however whenever somebody has an opinion that is different or deemed anti-club, they are persecuted by wannabe loyalists.
Face it, it is what it is, it is a lottery, a game of chance. Not in anyone's hands but the powers that be. I would like to know how the lottery is actually run and are there records kept on the so called winners???? These are pretty valid questions that would have been nice to be answered instead of it being some kind of a shielded operation. Do people who speak what some would be considered ill of the 10C decrease there chances in this lottery?
Sorry, that is my problem with this. I have bought tickets online for years and I know that that the power is in my hands. How do I know what is going on with a lottery system I can't see.......................................
Simple. It's called trust and having faith in something or someone that you believe in. Why are you and all of the other negative naysayers so quick to think that there will be some type "funny business" going on with this lottery system? Do you really think Pearl Jam is out to screw you and their fans? If you feel this way then why are you even in the fan club?
Is the lottery system perfect? Of course not, but is it probably the most fair and partial way to make sure everyone is on a equal playing field as far as being able to get tickets? Absolutely.
Now if over time I get shut out of every show I enter into the lottery then maybe there will be something for me to bitch about. But until that happens I'm willing to see how it all plays out and I feel that everyone else should too.
(Hopefully this post puts me at the top of the 10c favorites lottery list)

Well I guess I'm a bigger fan then because I pay $40 per year for my membership!

exable...
show-venue= somewhere at boston
10c presale fan club tix
old system
1000 pairs of fan club tix
sold out to 1000 10c members
news system
1000 pairs of fan club tix
sold out to 1000 10c members
same number of people score, same number of people shut out
if you shut out with the new system, means someone else got the tix,as was with the old ssystem
old system, you waste time,,a day of work, get angry, cursing, you cancel everything for the day,you should have faster internet possible,be in different browsers, know the tricks
new system ..just 1 min of your time, and knows that no one can score the tix than you,for any other reason than luck..
goal is the same..score a fan club pair for the show...
no..you dont have to be Einstein to understand what system is fair, quick ,better.
its so easy to see it.."...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”0 -

So there are other tickets besides fan club tickets? You were making it seem like we had to have some sort of "hunger games" competition to get to a Pearl Jam show.
The lottery existed in 1998 when they had mail in ticket requests. There is precedent for a lottery by the Ten Club. They are moving back to it now. The circle of life.0 -
there's alot that goes into this them not using TM for tickets. Has to do with the stand they made long ago and somethings you just can't let go of. What it stands for means something and if you can stay on board and grow with us through the obstacles of overcoming a monopoly then great, and if not, great.
F5, TM, direct from 10c server or dial-up to GA shows from overseas life is a bit of a gamble.
Whevever I get tickets to anyshow, event, spur of the moment expenditure in return for life experiences and growth, I'm grateful and consider meant to be.
good luck and cheers!
