Petition to do away with the new ticketing system.

In what way is pushing your way through F5-hell less of a lottery than this system?
If they would have... a Pearl jam quiz and the ones getting the most correct answers get the tix that is controlling your fate. Being lucky getting tix in your cart and the servers not fucking it all up is a lottery too, pretty much."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -

If this system accomplishes nothing other than eliminating "tricks" that some members were employing then I say it is a step forward.___________________________________________

They're not going to change back IMO and this is the way it is.
You are operating under the hypothesis that getting Pearl Jam fan club tickets should be hard and difficult, and there is a level of deserving fan club tickets. Why?
I can understand that there should be competition for a job or for college admittance. The jobs or colleges should pick the more skilled worker or the smarter student (or lets face it wealthier student).
If we all pay $20 or $40 a year to be in the fan club and 1,000 members want to go the MSG show, then it seems logical that all 1,000 fans should have an equal shot. A lottery gives them an equal shot. You are trying to make the process unequal to give yourself an advantage over others.0 -

But they are saying they were smarter than the rest and were able to use tricks to get the tickets.
I wonder if these are the same people that vote for Obama and want to have free health care for all (paid for by other taxpayers though). But when it comes time for them to give up an unfair advantage they scream bloody murder.0 -

Odd logic. Quite the opposite actually, those us who learned tricks to get tickets weren't handed the tricks or the tickets. We invested time and effort. We want to EARN the best tickets. Those who wanted the lottery didn't want to put in any time or effort, and just want tickets handed to them (much like free healthcare).0 -

if tomorrow there is a presale with lotteryvfor atlanta show ,ill not try to enter the lottery..same with f5,ill not try to score..cos i dont want to see that show..and dont want 10c to hold money from my card
my maths are just fine..
This has only been discussed a few hundred times, why doesn't it sink in? Take a show like MSG, people will enter for the hell of it and see if they win. If they win they will make plans to go. In the old system they had to invest time and effort, and thus wouldn't unless they REALLY wanted to go. Plus the new system makes it easier for scalpers to enter and cross their fingers, without putting in any actually effort. It might even attract NEW scalpers. Think about it, you live in NYC and have the chance to get valuable tickets with zero effort, why not sign up and try?pjalive21 wrote:before we crucify this process lets give it a shot first...for me personally i cant sit on the computer refreshing all day at work so in that aspect its good
Neither could I without planning. But I made getting tickets a priority, I moved around meetings to open up a ticket window, etc. I always had to stay much later than normal to make up the extra time. There were times I was traveling for work and still scored tickets because I planned ahead. Between trying on my phone in the airport, family, and my secretary helping. I've even taken days off to get tickets. Anything is possible if you make it a priority.0 -

I would investigate anyone who strongly dislikes the lottery for SABOTAGE!!!!!!!
People talking about "tricks" they used to get tickets, that they "earned" their tickets in the past and that a lottery winner is the equivalent of getting "welfare"???? How did this thread fall off the first page???0 -

Quite the odd bit of logic indeed.
The contradictions in your statements are remarkable.Nice shirt.0 -

Actually no I'm not trying to make any process anything - I have absolutely no control over that. I said I preferred the previous system because it always worked for me. I have the right to feel that way. I also acknowledged however, that clearly the majority preferred the lottery so that I expected it would stay that way. Applying effort and savvy in working for something you want is how the world usually works. However, most people want lottery so that's what happened. I accept it.
In terms of the old system - the things that helped me - 1) Hard wire computer to modem (no wi-fi), 2) cut and paste cc number, 3) reboot system prior to onsale. 4) keep everyone else off the network during that time. Have all unncessary machine processes shut down except the browser that you're using to buy tickets. 5) clear your cache 6) keep calm - getting flustered wastes time and energy. Always worked for me and no I didn't waste loads of time. There was never a show I didn't get within an hour.
These weren't any big thing, just basically common sense things that anyone with a little understanding of the computers they use could come up with.
If people have a problem with it, well you got your wish and now have the lottery, so the ideas I mentioned are no longer of any consequence anyway.R.i.p. Rigoberto Alpizar.

I'm not sure if anyone on here is familiar with the way Wrigley handles tickets for Cubs games, but it's total BS, when you try and buy tickets a lot of times for Cubs games from the box office, they will say it's sold out or try and sell you crap seats. But then there is a box office that is run by Wrigley that will sell you those same tickets for 50% more and it's owned by them, they take the good seats without ever making them available to the public and sell them themselves for 50% more.
So I hope the same crap doesn't happen for this show.[img][/img]9/5/92, 11/20/93, 3/14,15/94, 9/16/95, 10/14,15/2000

So then all is fine. Just take all your extra man power hours make some additional money and buy tickets on the open market. You can control your own destiny, get the seats you want, and feel good that you outworked the rest of us for them.0 -

Not odd logic. You just misinterpreted the meaning of the post. I was implying that there could be hypocrisy based on the liberal nature of this board that on one hand 10c tickets should go to those who earn them and on the other hand the government should pay for everything and nothing should be earned.
The last sentence in my post should have given this point away.0 -

It is called sarcasm. The general point of those against the lottery is that getting tickets should be a result of hard work and effort. Pretty common theme in this thread.0
