but reading this thread proves its impossible to get a sensible debate on gun ownership, and any kind of rational explanation as to why anyone would want to own a gun.0

unsung I stopped by on March 7 2024. First time in many years, had to update payment info. Hope all is well. Politicians suck. Bye. Posts: 9,487rearviewross wrote:unsung wrote:That is why it can be amended.
I don't put much faith, if any, in the SC to make a correct decision. A federal court can't be trusted to rule against Congress, and there have been many instances that they have sided in what Congress demands. The SC should defend liberty of the smallest minority, the individual, but there are many times that it doesn't.
I would agree with this. The Supreme Court has become the one thing that it was not supposed to be... political.
And if they turn political what's the point anymore?0 -

So you don't believe I should be able to defend my family against assault?0 -

As long as criminals and my government have guns, I want to have the ability to defend myself with equal protection.0 -

that kind of mentality is out of my comprehension.
When you have 100s of acres of land at your disposal and no civilizaiton around for miles you need to have things to do to pass the time. Just a hobby. You guys collect vinyl, I collect other things.
Pastimes...hobbies...sounds like you are playing with toys. And that's what guns have become to far too many. Very dangerous toys.___________________________________________

but if it was intended like it sounds you are absolutely correct no reasonable debate can be had.0 -

belittle you or assume you are irresponsible clearly shows who they are.

Couldn't agree more. I usually don't say much on these boards but this is one issue that I feel I need to speak my opinion.0 -

I dont have a problem with people having, owning or shooting guns. I shoot guns, its fun. The issue for me is the ridiculous unwillingness to bend by the NRA and its puppets in Congress to not pass laws that are just common sense. You cannot honestly tell me you think collecting guns is the same as collecting records and that it is just your run of the mill hobby? If you do then you are a fool. Guns are weapons made by design to kill. They are not like any other hobby.Forced to endure, what I cannot forgive.0 -

but you know that you shoot and enjoy a similar hobby ... shooting.
As far as comparing to collecting vinyl, I can't answer for the op of that comparison
but I know a few gun collectors, I don't know any vinyl collectors, I know they can be serious.
I think I can imagine the similarities the two enjoy though.
Key word enjoy and of course the right to do so.
As far as the NRA and the puppets of Congress, one of the two of those make
good common sense to me the other is proving to be worthless unfortunately.
Good thing we can vote out the worthless.0 -

My vinyl collection can't kill a room full of people in the wrong hands though.
If I have shit day, month, or year and decide to go all apeshit and take out a few people, my vinyl collection will be of no help to me.
I'm all for you being able to collect guns and fire them as a hobby, but to compare it to other hobbies that has
zero chance of every hurting someone, I can't wrap my head around that argument.Peace, Love.
