say you have one or two gunmen enter a school and you have multiple armed teachers. all have their guns drawn and are looking for each other. the cops show up. how are the cops going to know who the gunmen are if there are multiple people with guns? it the gunmen are dressed black like police or swat officers, might that make the teachers mistakenly fire at police causing police to fire back???

seems to me the potential exists for armed teachers to be shot by police by mistake. not to mention, teachers firing at gunmen and potentially missing and hitting kids.

i think it is a bad idea to have more guns, becaue it opens it up to being a situation like the gunfight at the OK corral...
NO GUNS FOR TEACHERS.(I'm sure their union wouldn't allow it.) :?
Hey,maybe the killers would dress up as teachers or cops then nobody would know who is who.
    This is why nothing happens.
To many stupid scenarios and no action taken.
its not a stupid scenario. how many times to cops shoot the wrong person? it happens all the time. this is what happens when you introduce more guns into a situation.
How many times do they get the right person?More often than not, I'll bet.
There won't be "more" guns because they will already have a gun to begin with.

btw , I don't mean the poster i mean the guy in the photo. Unless of course the guy in the picture is the same guy who posted it here.

I once taught preschool for five years....there's no way I would want a gun in a safe or wear a gun while trying to teach. To me it's not practical or safe and your scenario is certainly possible and could turn out to be even more of a tragedy followed by lawsuits. Can you imagine teachers in high school being over powered then having that weapon taken away then chaos, please tell me this cannot happen, because it can.

Well I will tell you one thing,as I have stated before.I would not want any teachers to have access to a gun.Mainly because teachers are some of the most unstable people I have ever met.

That's quite the generalization. Disrespectful to say the least.

Obviously you weren't including those teachers that acted heroically last week at Sandy Hook Elementary, huh?

  • Rough Mix...

Come to think about it... I despise that comment you made.

Interesting that there is a thread debating whether or not 9-11 was worse than this incident.

In light of 9-11... firefighters and police members were lauded as national heroes doing the job they signed up for. And... to be fair... they were heroes.

In light of this incident... you had untrained, unarmed women teachers throwing themselves at the shooter trying to save children. And you make that shitty, little, tasteless comment.

Geez, man. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and surmise that you had a brain fart. You cannot truly believe what you just said.

You are right, I should have clarified.
Based on teachers I know(or know of) personally.

    Fair enough.

    Also posted in another thread..

Some have the right idea. Futile some will say, but I say it's a start.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -guns.html

"Deeply affected by the massacre at Sandy Hook, gun owners in Camden, New Jersey, America's deadliest town, turned in a record number of weapons in a buy back scheme over the weekend.

1,137 firearms including an elephant-gun were handed in on Friday and Saturday at two churches in the crime-plagued town as the ramifications of the mass child killings in Connecticut seemed to inspire residents to give up their arms.

'....We heard that there were a number of gun owners on Saturday who had publicly said, in light of the situation that had just occurred in Connecticut, they wanted to turn in their weapons,' Paul Loriquet, a spokesman for the Camden police, said in an interview with Philly.Com

Among the weapons handed in were scores of rifles, shotguns and pistols, sawed-off shotguns, a century-old antique weapon, a rifle used for hunting elephants and five fully automatic weapons.

Some 90 per cent were in working condition.

Many were illegal weapons under state laws; some were so-called community guns stashed around the neighborhood.

All those who turned in guns were promised anonymity and no questions asked.

'A lot of people said they don't want the guns around the house now,' said state Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa as he announced the result of the program held Friday and Saturday at two Camden churches."
