I feel like the gun control crowd should take this thread and run with it rather than being outraged. The OP who is on the opposite side if the gun control argument, I believe, pointed out that there are sick fucks everywhere which is a valid point. And then went on to point out that one sick fuck had access to guns and around 20 little kids are dead, wiped off this earth forever, he then also pointed out that another sick fuck who didn't have access to guns also went on a rampage and attacked a similar number of children and no one is dead. One society with guns ended up with 20 something deaths while a society without guns ended up with zero in very similar situations. This is the point you want to get through so instead of being outraged, ya might want to point it out.

I tend to think that when someone you are arguing makes your EXACT point for you, you should probably roll with it.

    I did already.

Similar to someone who is convicted of attempted murder versus someone who is convicted of murder. Why does the person who tried to kill someone but was unsuccessful get a lighter sentence than someone who actually did murder someone. Just doesn't make sense to me. This is the reason why I don't really think either of these tragedies are less or more tragic than the other one.

you know, this very argument was made by Sideshow Bob on an episode of the Simpsons.

"I mean, come ON, jail for attempted murder? I've never seen anyone get a nobel prize for attempted chemistry!".

this thread comes off just as idiotic.

So what you're saying is someone that tries to take your life but is unsuccessful shouldn't be punished? :? Someone with the same intent as someone who actually managed to murder someone is worse than some random fuck who had bad aim? Sick fucks are sick fucks and they need to be dealt with appropriately.

you said they are the SAME. I never said they shouldn't be punished. keep trolling.

I have no problem with you saying what you have to say - even though you ignore me, I think I defend your saying what you want more often than not because you have a right to say it (this thread included), but I do think that it is fact, not opinion, that what happened in CT today is so much more tragic than what happened in China that I can't actually bring myself to believe that you truly feel otherwise. The death of children vs the survival of children. C'mon man. Surely you must know the difference.... if not, well... can't even comment on that.

So doesn't the 22 children and their familes who have to live the rest of their lives after surviving an attack tragic. For the rest of the children's lives they have to look over their shoulder wondering if the guy standing there is going to stab them.

    Tragic tragic story

You said it yourself... They get to live their lives

In my eyes they should be the same. Let's use this example for instance. The wacko walks into the school yesterday and instead of murdering 27 people he only manages to injure them. Technically he didn't murder anyone. Weren't his intentions the same though? Shouldn't he be punished just the same? That is if the wacko didn't take his own life like the spineless fuck he is.

No one is talking about the fucking punishment. There are 18 kids who are dead..gone. Their parents are never going to look at their lives the same way again, the kids will not live to play sports, date, have sex, get drunk, get married. Their parents will never be able to celebrate the holidays

    Many people's lives are ruined

The 22 people in china have an opportunity to have a normal life, albeit a bit more difficult. But they can do all of those things.

They are the not the fucking same and to say otherwise is moronic.

You have absolutely no clue how they are going to love their lives...none

Maybe one will look at the situation and see that they were given a second chance and go on to do great things?

Are you suggesting they are better off dead?
