  • NFL handled this well.

    Game should have been played.

Before the game, they had a moment for.... victims of domestic abuse.

The absolute right focus. There was no need to NOT have the game. They hit the exact proper chord.

Everyone loves to bash these sports leagues, but nobody comes on and compliments them when they do something right (which, quite frankly, they tend to. It's just that when they get it wrong, they get it SO wrong. But, in this case - I feel like they did the right thing.) Sports can be a very uplifting thing if handled properly.

What amazed me is the statistic that there are 600 murder/suicides a YEAR in the US. That's 12 a week, or almost 2 a day!!! Terrible.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

    Warning signs,
what every young person should know and be able to communicate, address and
find relief before it comes to this, whether they are experiencing them or their
    mate is.

Do not antagonize your partner. Do not disregard feelings. Do not justify.
Do not test nor make a fool of.

So the police find this guy asleep in his car, possibly intoxicated, and let him drive away. :fp: :fp: :fp:

I guess we'll have to wait on the toxicology reports. This could be a big F-up.
    Alright, alright, alright!

“I got to go,” Belcher reportedly said. “I can’t be here.”

So sad if only he had been a little drunker and taken into custody,
how events line up, chilling. Everyday events line up.

Yes she went out to a concert ... out til 1am.

He was jealous, couldn't control her, she him.

That's the hardest part of a young relationship, learning in life we can control no one.
People have to want to please and not be selfish, promote bonds not test them.

So much frustration, anger he had no choice but to take his own life after losing his
temper and killing his girl, the mother of his baby girl. He knew he didn't deserve to be here,
    couldn't be here anymore.

    Tragic, avoidable...
I'm sure their were warning signs ... most especially since young men have tempers,
jeez young women can test them.

Could blows to the head, concussions cause personality changes?

The guy had been out partying, he had been drinking, he had a temper when dealing with 'women issues' (incident noted during his college years) + "“You can’t talk to me like that!” type talk towards his girlfriend (as heard by mother) and he had guns. Excessive alcohol + temper + guns... why am I not surprised at the outcome.

As remorseful as this guy seemed to be, he had issues - he knew it. As someone said - he could have walked away from the argument but instead chose to pick up a gun and shoot his girlfriend/mother of his baby girl several times.

Could this have been avoided if, for example, the cops took him in to 'sleep it off'? This time, most probably. But next argument? Or the one after? Not sure.

if he was sober enough to drive...there would be no reason to take him in.....

that's not to say, he couldn't have been drunk, since cops have been known to let drunks go....but until that is proven, we have to assume the cop did a good job

Not saying the cops didn't do their job - not all all. Just giving a sort of 'what if' scenario. Another 'what if' could be what if the cops didn't see him sleeping in the car and he just slept it off there? The outcome could have been very different. Sober enough to drive doesn't always mean all 'right in the head' when it comes to alcohol intake and consequences of such. But you are right, one needs to wait for tox reports to determine what was consumed or not, but friends did say he had been drinking with them.

Didn't the article say he put his hand through a window? That just means he was mad at himself.
What man hasn't done that? or something much like it when they are acting dumb.
My young man who is now my old man had a temper.
Every guy I ever dated did to some degree. Not necessarily directed at me.

There is a huge difference between an abuser and a man with a temper.
But I agree warning signs were not heeded. Frustration grew
complicated by his ladies actions and his inner insecurities, weakness
    and immaturity.

Big tough men, bigger tougher football men, they don't cry, they don't seek out help,
they are supposed to deal. He needed a confidant, a coach, his parent, someone
to help him get the help he needed.

My heart tells me I can not blame this young man, not as the facts stand,
his pain great leading up to and after. It is a tragedy all round.
