My thoughts on the Benny vinyl? I'd love to have one, but not gonna sign up for a lottery or blow $1k or more on a vinyl that more than likely doesn't sound any better than my cd copy.

Just do like the bluray. Rerelease it in a non numbered black vinyl different package so the audiophiles that want to hear it on a turntable can buy it, but the collector that has it on a shelf in plastic still has one of the numbered original 2000.

... And here is where I get yelled at by someone who either 1) spent 1500 bucks or 2) wants to make 1465 bucks.

It doesn't quite work like that. As soon as you do a 2nd pressing (even if its a barebones simpler version of the original) makes the original that much less rare.

Anytime you reissue something rare (even if its slightly different) you take away from the originals prestige factor.

I'm not saying a reissue wouldn't be good for fans, but you have to accept the fact that its a kick in the nuts to anyone thats collected it (and paid a fortune for a 2nd hand copy). The value of the original would drop quite a bit if there was a reissue.

I think it's ok that sometimes theres collectors items with bands that are very rare and develop their own mystique. I don't think all of them should be reissued. Let some stuff live on in legend
