No. Actually the easiest thing for them to do is pack up the ones they do have and take them to the convention. That's the easiest thing.0 -

EVERYBODY is given a fair chance.
2000 tickets at $20 a piece?
1000 tickets at $10 a piece?
3000 tickets at whatever a piece?
It doesnt matter, the tickets will sell over time.
The 10club makes their HUGE PROFIT, and each and every one of you are given a chance at the "Holy Grail".Take me piece by piece.....

I think they're selling them at the convention to attract more people. If they made it a send in your money for a raffle ticket, they might not attract as many people as they hope for the convention. I think their idea is entice people to come in hopes of scoring benaroya hall and thus spend money on other stuff while there. Marketing ploy.0

in order to add insult to injury, I've just seen two on the bay, one starting at 999, the other at 1500...
don't kill the messenger...
I hope that everybody has a good time at the convention and finds whatever he/she is looking for...... I am not in the business of being liked anymore ...0 -
SPEEDY MCCREADY wrote:From a business point of view, why not include everybody? Why is the "Holy Grail" only going to be available to a certain group of people who can attend this convention? Yourself, Leeze, TheSerialThriller, EVERYBODY should be given an equal chance to win this album. If it truly all about the money, then there is a better way to distribute these few albums that are available. If it is truly about making sure a "true fan" gets the album, then there is a better way to do this.
I completely agree with Speedy. The raffle is an awesome idea.0 -
It's pretty scary that people seem to be traveling a good distance in order for the chance to get one of the box sets.
They will prob have 5-10 available, and as the Poster Convention release states, "for the hardcore fans"....And so you see, I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.0 -

Last year, if i remembered correctly one 10C member on here did a raffle and the stipulation was to donate $10 or more to your fav. charity. This was done over a couple months. A shitload of money was donated and one winner picked. Extremely generous 10C member sorry I forget their name.
My suggestion 10C do the same for each band members charity or the persons own choice. Plus also give one to Elwayvedder for the US troops. One a month till all the extra bennys are gone.
Donation receipt has to be done in the current months donation drive/benny..
maybe a lot of work but its for a good cause.
totally understand why they are bringing them to the convention. stir things up and drive people there that other wise wouldnt go.Hamilton 9-13-05; Toronto 5-9-06, Toronto 8-21-09, Toronto 9-12-11, Hamilton 9-15-11....0 -
The $999 guy on the bay would not take a dime less than what he was listing it at. I feel like both of those listers are $300 off on the prices.0
-
And for added fun, the 10club could run the raffle the exact same way they run the tickets.
When trying to buy a raffle ticket.
The board can crash..
Our credit card numbers will not go through.
We can hit F5, 2,354 times.
We can all swear, scream and yell, start threads condemning the 10club...
It will be just like the old days!!!Take me piece by piece.....

I'm still shocked they lowered the price on the PJ20 deluxe reissues.0

Would 2000 10club members here, spend $100 on a raffle ticket, for a chance to win one of 5-10 albums?
I think they would.
And the 10club just made $200,000.00
Its truly a no brainer.Take me piece by piece.....

This statement from Tim riles me:
“We have a limited number of them but they’re not going to be cheap. They’re going to be lower priced than what you’ll see on eBay but we aren’t going to sell them at a price where people will be going right back and selling them on eBay. The purpose of this pop-up shop and sale isn’t to stock people’s eBay accounts. That’s not what we’re doing,” Bierman said. “We’d like to come up with a fair price for some of these items so that people who really want them, and who make an effort to get out here for this show, would be happy to pay a good price to have what they would consider a prized possession.”
Really is there any difference from 10c say charging $500 for Benny vinyl tomorrow or someone picking one up at face and throwing it on ebay? I think not.
The price of this thing is insane. I've got vinyl, I just don't get why people drop crazy money on this thing. Cd will do for me.2000: Manchester

Speedy's right...it is a no-brainer and the tickets would easily sell out, but take away from the sizzle of the event in person...but also allow everyone a chance at owning one of these icons of vinyl history.
but seriously, when Jack White released his limited or whatever 7"/45s a few months ago, he sold them at market value ($150-200 or whatever) and figured why let the flipper profit when he's the one producing the damn thing!? I don't agree with the 10c doing it that way, but wouldn't be surprised if they too were motivated the same way...I met my wife here...you can too! Don't lose hope!0
