Wow, I can feel us all coming together with all these wonderful comments about a losing presidential candidate. Stay classy AMT!
I don't know you, so I don't really want to get into it with you or anything, but your comments haven't exactly been in the spirit of "coming together". I know you don't want to hear this man, but it's sour grapes. You think if Romney won the Republicans would be holding hands with Democrats and singing Kumbaya? I live in a red state, all I hear most days are racist jokes about Obama.
I'm not really saying "they do it, so Obama supporters should do it to", but let's not act like only the Democrats would say such things. This was a pretty heated race, so it's to be expected I think. Neither candidate should be particularly proud of how they handled the election, and neither should the party members. But this is just an internet forum, for a band that is decidedly left wing, you knew what you were getting into when you logged in here tonight.
Oh no, I have no illusions that it'd be different if roles were reversed. Just an easy pot shot to take. Style over substance is where we are at obviously -- that's what we just voted on it would seem. I don't think there will be, nor should be, a coming together. In my blue state, I don't care about the jokes or snark or any of that, it's all policy and politics driving us into the ground.
Totally agree, our election seasons are a total embarrassment to us all.
I hope Obama fixes the country, but he did not have a plan to reduce debt, fix Medicare, fix Social Security, fix the schools...THat is why I made my post. Things got worse under Obama and the scary thing is he has not put any new ideas on how to fix things in the last couple years.
And people could say the exact same thing about Romney...that he didn't lay out any concrete plans for changing things. In fact, that's probably a primary reason he didn't gain the traction he thought he would.
I'm not going to debate issues or policies or any of that. But I will say that to come on here and tell people "you deserve what you get" after an election where your guy lost is snarky and uncivil and uncivic. You might be upset, but go put on Vitalogy and get your angst out like the rest of us. Pretending you're hopeful for Obama's success while at the same time telling people that they deserve what they get is a poor attempt at patriotism, and a spot-on rendition of "Sour Grapes."
I think Obama is going to be horrible for this country. It is clear based on the last four years and his lack of an agenda. A lot of people voted for him despite of this. Hence, they deserve Obama and his policies.
Nothing snarky about my post. I would love Obama to decrease the debt, decrease the cost of health care, fix social security and get a balance budget. I don't care about Dem or Rep. Honestly.

I can't really speak for why people voted for Obama, I think it's assumption to say it was style over substance. I actually tried to give Governor Romney a shot, you can ask some people around here that I've had some political conversations with, I'm far from being a Democrat or left wing. Romney didn't show me any substance. I still have no clue what his platform was, as it changed all the time. I don't always agree with what Obama says, but at least I know what he's about. I couldn't bring myself to vote for somebody that I couldn't get a reading on at all.

You're entitled to your opinion. But saying "you deserve what you get" and pretending its patriotic is snarky. Sorry. You could've made your point much differently. Instead, it just sounds like sour grapes.

Romney didn't show me any substance. I still have no clue what his platform was, as it changed all the time. I don't always agree with what Obama says, but at least I know what he's about. I couldn't bring myself to vote for somebody that I couldn't get a reading on at all.
Yeah, I will say the media-entertainment-academia complex did a good job of obfuscating a good and, sure, powerful man's entire career and record into a single sound bite, rendering him an etch a sketch. But I think Romney and Ryan presented plenty of substance, it was just unpalatable for many reasons. Gimme another spoonful of sugar and put that castor oil away!
"I am so proud to be elected leader of this great and most wonderful country on earth, now join with me to change it...."
As for my beliefs, I haven't voted for any incumbent politician for over 16 years now.... except democratic governor Gray Davis. And then I voted to recall him!

Substance. Give me a fucking break. Ryan had a plan that has been laughed at by anyone with half a brain. Romney ran faster to the middle than Usain Bolt.
Edit: and it seems like you may stick out as the one with the academia complex

Well my opinion didn't come from the media giving me a single sound bite. I watched two of the debates (not the first one, I've heard a lot about that one, mainly about Obama blowing it) and Romney couldn't sway me. You're actually starting to sound pretty venomous now, implying that I was somehow tricked by the media as opposed to forming an opinion, so I'm just going to choose to stop talking to you now. Just in case we run into each other on the boards in the future and actually want to have a friendly conversation. The election is over, the band is continuing, and I'd much rather not get into it with you in case I end up liking you later.

It is clear based on the last four years and his lack of an agenda.
Haven't we learned that the last 4 years are anything but clear? Pick a stat or a number or an issue and depending on who you ask, things are better or worse than they were before Obama. Conveniently, those opinions often line up with who you happened to back for president. So saying that it's clear to you simply betrays your political leanings, but doesn't make it any "clearer." Saying you'll give the guy a fair shake while simultaneously saying how bad he is, was, or will be, comes off as of course completely disingenuous.

is it cliffy approved?
Good color, neat knot. I'm gonna guess Cliffy gives it 2 thumbs up.

Approved. Blue. Clean. Tight knot. No complaints at all.

Very much agreed.

For sure.
