    where's fear4freedom?
there are a few people that i am surprised are not online right now. i would like to read what they have to say.

does re-election in a big way = a mandate? bush thought it did.

We'll see who wins the popular vote which can change the whole mandate argument. Electoral college though is certainly a large victory.
i agree. but i think once california's votes are counted the popular vote will be much closer than it is right now.

of course he's going to take it that way. I guarantee his speech tonight will mention some sort of line about a victory for people who want peace, and prosperity and sane policies. This is an affirmation of 4 years of failed policies.

So, 4 more years of war, torture, illegal wiretapping, obama continuing to have a more than friendly relationship with the financial institutions, nothing major getting done to address global warming, continued racist drug wars, more prisons, more drones in other countries. american exceptionalism and global hegemony, and nothing at all being done to address the worst economy since the great depression.
  • I am a happy girl tonight. It is so nice to see democracy in action. :D

this election cycle yes. but this loss will only embolden the big money guys who pumped millions of anonymous money into this election. i would hate to see the superpacs next cycle when most of congress is up for election again.

    Voting results not unexpected.

I hope you all liked the last four years, because you are getting four more of them.

Debt now > debt in 2008
Unemployment now > unemployment in 2008
Food stamps now > food stamps in 2008

You all do realize on the economy Obama did everything George W. Bush would have done? Bush would have bailed out Wall Street, Bush would have bailed out the auto industry, Bush was responsible for the first stimulus, Bush let the Fed do whatever it wanted...

    Enjoy! You deserve Obama.

Well that was graceful. Come on man...I really hope every one wants the best for this country. It's comments like these that make me think that's not always the case.

What are you happy about? What are you expecting to happen in the next four years? Just curious.

Obama never really told us his agenda for the next four years, so just curious on what the expectations are.

I believe if one or two of the conservative justices on the Surpeme Court retire during Obama's 2nd term, I see it being overturned.

it wont embolden them, its remained the same. Obama in 2008 won the PR industries Best Campaign award. Beating out Apple. The WSJ and other buisness press widely praised him for creating this new effective campaign that would change the ad industry. The financial institutions favored Obama heavily in 2008, and I have no doubt thats who funded the 2012 campaign. Who did he bail out? The financial instutitions.

The elections and the government are run by people with money. Thats why I quoted Madison earlier, when he talked about the goal of the government is to protect the minority of the opulant against the majority. This is from the consitutional convention.

Money is poltics has always existed. 2012 wasnt any different.

Everyone is excited in this thread. I can't figure out why.

I hope Obama fixes the country, but he did not have a plan to reduce debt, fix Medicare, fix Social Security, fix the schools...THat is why I made my post. Things got worse under Obama and the scary thing is he has not put any new ideas on how to fix things in the last couple years.

i could be wrong, but i believe that both houses of congress can overturn it legislatively.
