Huge amounts of snow on the roof. During the day there is a little bit of melting. Now my gutters are full of ice and the overflow is freezing on the windows. It is like a mini frozen waterfall. If they blow the window seals I will have a major problem. This cold has been brutal.

Windows are frozen shut and the ice is thick enough that I cannot just bump it off. Might have to get a heat gun.

It is what it is. Every few years we have a significant weather event. Snow, heat, hurricanes, but his has been one of the harshest winters in a long time.

Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer

I remember Chicago winter of 78/79 in detail.
Over 80 inches of snow total for the Winter.
I remember the city being crippled. Fucking crazy. After a 20 inch snowfall the temperatures plummeted. That snow was on the streets until March/April.

Yep, we have lived through a few big ones. I remember one or two ice storms in CT around that time. Everything, I mean everything, covered in over an inch of ice. This snow will not be gone anytime soon. Forecast is for freezing temps for the next week at least. When all of this melts we might have flooding. I would guess Jersey will. Our local crews are still trying to clear the walkways and driveways. Everything is frozen at the moment, but when the temps rise, it will be dirty slushy water everywhere.

Snow is pretty to look at for the 1st 4-12 hours.
Then it just turns into one great big pain in the ass. Unless you are practicing for the men's downhill in a couple weeks.
    I hate Winter
But I love the Winter Olympics.

    This was my favorite. 2011
    This is Lake Shore Drive.
The snow fell quickly, and the cars had nowhere to go. Police and Fire had to go rescue people on foot.

Ya know, I live here because I love the change of seasons, and being an hour or so away from the catskills, a beach and NYC. I did do some bobsledding and luge when I was younger up at lake placid. Fun and scary.

One of the most extreme temperatures fluctuations between seasons on earth. Coldest winter temperatures can get-50 C warmest in summer can be +40.

I keep trying to convince my wife we need to get the fuck out of here when we retire. She doesn’t want to. Do people get divorced for irreconcilable geographical differences? 😂

Where do YOU want to retire?
    What's your ideal retirement destination?

My wife and I have that exact conversation on a monthly, and sometimes weekly basis. And we cannot envision leaving New York. I do not play golf. I will never own a boat or a horse. I like to visit Florida, Myrtle Beach, Scottsdale, Big Sky, or Jackson Hole. But I am much happier walking around NYC when I want to. Good chance we might retire to Tokyo.
