Like, if we are at war with someone... and someone has an angel on their side... does that mean his side is the good side and the other is the evil side? And it doesn't have to be war... war was just a simple example. If you are at odds with someone and good fortune shines upon your foe... he claims Angels protected him.. does that mean you are evil or unworthy of good fortune?
    ...
Me personally... you already know I am going to say, 'I don't know'... because, in fact, I don't know. I believe we have a hand in the opportunities and obstcles that we present ourselves with our own decisions... but, luck has a something to do with it... sometimes. And it is belief, not knowledge. Just because I may not believe in Angels does not mean they do not exist, right?

My guess would be that Angels are not like God being on somebody's team or for their country. I'd guess it's more of a one on one kind thing, regardless of race, creed, color, sexual preference and hair color. Probably the same is true of demons.
i've saw demons before too. lil devils on fire in my attic. fuck off. run downstair and crawl in bed with grandma. but yeah, the fucker was on fire in a pile of wood in our attic. that was scary as i had to walk by it to get to the stairs. sucker was only a matter of 12 inches tall or so. again as usual, gray/white & transparent.

I believe you, Chadwick. Thank goodness you had grandma to keep you save.

I know this may sound like BS to some but it's true: several years ago a friend of mine and I were playing cards (no, not on drugs) and a breeze blew through the room with windows shut. We both looked up and saw something red over the doorway. We both described the same thing, a demonic face full of anger. Both us us were very cautious in going about of business for days after that.

We all have angels protecting us. I guess it's only when you get into a real close spill that you get a chance to realize that there has to be something else there saving us. I've experienced mine and yeah, all of the photos I take have orbs in them. I could be in the middle of nowhere and there are orbs in the photos. It happens all the time. It's not dust.

Can't you see one with your naked eye....

does photography/videopgraphy have a special "eye" that captures the orbs whereas you might not see it just by looking at it? (If yes, why? what does the camera's eye have on our human eye?)

Ah hmmm... When people see ghosts... how come they are always clothed? Shouldn't they all be naked? We come into the world naked.. we go out of the world without any worldly possessions... including our clothing, right? How do ghosts make their clothing invisable?
    ...
And I guess the same would apply to Angels... if Angels are born of dead people.

I think the basic idea of Angels comes from the formation of what the nature of Angels are. Are Angels spirits of the dead or something different all together? If Angels are spirits of the dead... is there a relation to ghosts? Demons?
    ...
Personally... I believe in the body and spirit. But, I also believe that the two bear no resemblence to each other. That the spirit resides in the body and helps to guide the body through this physical level of being. At the end of this life... the spirit is released. Where it goes from there... I have no clue... and I believe that no one else here has a clue, either.
So, basically... if someone believes in Angels doesn't necessarily mean that Angels do exist... just as someone who does not believe means they do not exist. Both of those beliefs are equal... but, the truth of the matter... speaking from the physical univers we exist in... today... we just don't know for sure.

Most of my family and friends believe in angels, and in ghosts as well. Internet message boards are the only safe place for me to voice my frustration with such absurd beliefs. I apologize... for taking advantage of that.

My daughter is 11 and scared of ghosts, because our culture (especially this time of year) is constantly pushing the idea that ghosts are real... it started with ghost stories, but now there's so many movies and TV shows about ghosts... it gets implanted into our minds at a young age. So I have work hard to convince her that ghosts do not exist... I have to tell her that if ghosts were real, I would have seen one by now... there would be proof by now. There's never any proof. There never will be.

Also frustrating is the fantasy that angels are looking out for us. My tolerance for these myths is running low.

Despite everything I just typed, I have personally experienced the "Old Hag Phenomenon".

    http://paranormal.about.com/od/humaneni ... ndrome.htm

It was like being visited by a horrible ghostly old woman, first in a dream, but when I woke up, it seemed like a glowing spirit was still holding me down... I was paralyzed for what seemed like an eternity, but was probably only 5-10 seconds. People have experienced this same phenomenon throughout history... so that is admittedly, strange! But I think it's all in the mind.

I do think there is an afterlife... I just don't see any evidence that spirits are among us in this world.

Dude, I think I agree with you. My opinion is rapidly changing and flip-flopping throughout this thread. I don't place faith in angels, but maybe there is some truth to spirits moving in and out of what we know as the world... the universe is still such a mystery... I don't really blame people for believing such spirits are real... I just don't like the strong conviction people sometimes have in regards to their existence... like "you're crazy if you don't believe". Well, this may go against what I've already said in this thread, but I don't think people are crazy if they do believe.

    I'm gonna shutthefuckup now.

I've had that happen to me as well. The first, most intense and most real feeling happened when I was around 10 years old. I couldn't see her clearly but an old woman was holding me down and I was terrified. I couldn't can't and won't try to explain it. Somethings just don't seem explainable to me and I guess the way I'm different from some people is I don't mind that they can't be explained.

I can't explain why, when I was in my early twenties, I was on the M street car in San Francisco one night and it was barreling through the tunnel under Twin Peaks and the car jumped the tracks at very high speed and rammed into a tunnel support beam and killed everyone and suddenly the car emerged intact from the tunnel at West Portal. These things just happen.

It's crazy terrifying, right? I was about 22 when it happened to me. I had this dream that I was flying, above a lake, with beautiful mountain scenery around me. I saw what looked like an angel in the sky... classic angel with a long flowing white dress... she was facing away from me... I flew close to her and then she turned around with a look of pure evil... her face was almost skeletal... it reminded me of the ghosts that fly out of the Ark of the Covenant in the film Raiders of the Lost Ark... fortunately my face didn't melt like what happened to the Nazi guys in that film, but I was completely horrified... I woke up right at that moment, I was lying on my back (normally I sleep face down or on my side) and maybe it was just my eyes adjusting to waking up, but it seemed like a glowing electrical force was in front of me, on my chest... I couldn't move a muscle... that was even scarier... then suddenly I could move again, everything looked normal around me, and I thought about what just happened over and over again until I finally could go back to sleep maybe an hour later... it's still a very vivid memory.

A year or two later, I found out that others have had a very similar experience... that kind of blew my mind...

There is a scientific basis for why the body may be paralyzed for a short time after you wake up suddenly from a dream... however why are we all visited by the same evil old hag in that dream?

I guess I am missing something.

I can honestly say that I believe in nothing: religion, no man-made "god," angels, ghosts, bigfoot, aliens, etc, etc, etc.

I simply believe that all of these things are human constructions. Like religion, all of these things are created as a source of comfort. I don't believe in heaven. Guess what! It is frightening to not be a believer; I would much rather have the comfort blanket of believing that some paradise awaits me once my heart and brain give out like that cymbal playing monkey when low on batteries.

I'm not sure there's anything TO miss.

Why must it be one or the other? Fine if you don't believe - my earlier comment was about belittling those who do, or who admit they don't know, or who have had experiences they can't explain. It just strikes me as patronizing to lump in bigfoot with someone's thoughts on god or religion or the topic of this thread - "otherworldiness".

Not believing doesn't make one better or braver than someone who does or someone in-between, and vice versa.

I wasn't doing anything that you accuse me of. Angels, ghosts, bigfoot, aliens, are all in the same category: things people believe in; things that I have never seen/experienced. If me "lumping it in" is offensive to you, then it is offensive to you. I don't think the statement by itself is offensive.

Why must it be one or the other? Who said it has to be?

Technically, Angels are not spirits of the dead. They have always been disincarnate. But we all understand Angels differently. I guess the most 'known' Angels are those that have been 'hijacked' by religion and I think those have been well described - whether in Christianity, Islam, Judaism, etc. But Angels were there long before the written religious word and are not just a theological concept. Ancient Angels are all over the place, in all cultures. They are the Native American (and other tribal) spirit guides, the Norse Valkyries, etc.

I don't see Angels as 'messengers of God' but rather an energy, a force. One that is around, that you can feed from - where it comes from depends on your beliefs, I guess. I do see them differently to 'spirits' (in preference to word 'ghost') as well. These spirits can come in times of need for guidance, etc. too. I also believe if one accepts the concept of a 'benevolent' energy/force, one needs to accept the concept of the opposite.

I love the concept of Angels - my daughter was named after one ;)

Does the Bible ever say when God created angels? From what I remember, there's no story for when angels came to be... now excuse me while I do a quick Google search on "When did God create angels?"... yeah, no one knows... the book of Job describes how the angels "shouted for joy" when God created the Earth... so they pre-date Earth then... do they pre-date the Heavens too? Were they flying around the empty void of space? I guess that's why they shouted for joy when God finally decided to create a planet and with some people on it so they could follow them around and guard them against evil forces... even an angel needs a purpose, right?

How many angels are there? Does everyone get a guardian angel? Are there 7 billion angels? Do Hindus get guardian angels? Or is there only one per believer? Are more created to fill the demand? Do they retire if demand shrinks?

Do they still play harps, or did they let Hendrix teach them about the electric guitar?

See, I look at it as energy; maybe it's always there around us, maybe not...maybe we're not aware of it or not in tune; maybe some are more perceptive of that energy.

    No answers here, for sure.

it is a smart ass comment lumping all those things together; unicorns, sasquatch, fairies, demons, zombies, lochness monster, aliens and angels

kinda like how the government lumps together the folowing; cocaine, heroin, pcp, meth, & marijuana.

believing in angels & ghosts does not make one religious at all. no it sure doesn't. having the ability to be in tune with the universe or this earth's otherside does not make one religious. it is simply a gift because that is all it is. a sensitive type person, sensitive to his/her surroundings, sensitive in feelings, sensitive to what is unexplainable. i can't explain it because of this but i've had 40 years worth of experience at experiencing super-natural happenings.

sure i'm a bit crazy, but i am not mentally insane. im good crazy so they say. fun crazy. haha.
i have psychic happenings accure quite often, it is a fucking ball.

recently i have orbs flying about... or do the orbs have me?

i might try and burn your fucking house down by thinking it up in my fucking head some time!
