Actually guys i know of many good places in the centre and it is easy to get to the gig even in a large crowd but nothing in the sazka arena region.
Just now i would say to book a few tables at hospoda v lucerne on vodickova in the centre. I know the barmen too.
burstchips, i had some friends stay in ABC hostel just next to wenceslas square. It was big and cheap so you could get in with other PJ fans. Again its in the centre but that is no problem.
Sounds good I Scot ID, will have a look, always good to have people with local knowledge.. hopefully should ensure i don't have too many (any) scrapes!
Oh i can guarantee the scrapes, i though id lost my balls in London, i even had to check them on top of ScotinAmsterdams shoulders....luckily they were still there thanks to the protection of the sporran. Eddie can vouch for that too.
I know Prague pretty well and how to deal with people there. I'm sure i could organise something with the help of a Czech to make up for my embarrasing knowledge of the mentalness that is the Czech language!!
For those of you travelling to Berlin after the gig, the trains take roughly 5 hours and rates are normally good at the weekends specifically for backpackers. A return at short notice was about £60 but i am sure you can get a single for less than £30.
Can any Czechs contact ceske drahy or hlavni nadrazi Praha for some costs? We need to be in Berlin for around (before) 3pm to allow for further travel and to meet others for beer! I'll give you a day then i'm getting a friend to do it!
sadly i won't be in prague...but i just wanted to tell you all to have a BLAST!!! i really wanted to go to prague-berlin-vienna with my husband, but he couldn't go. he sooo wants to visit germany, and i didn't want to go then w/o him, so hitting the 5 italian dates solo. so not too sad. haha.
anyhoo, if you've not been to prague before, you are in for a TREAT! it is by far one of the most gorgeous cities ever. i had the privilege of living there 6 weeks last fall - what a city! lots of excellent restaurants and pubs, sooo many internationals about, great/reliable and cheap public transport. hell, i became friendly with an italian expat with the best penne arrabbiatta in the city! it's on zitna - little italian restuarant, trattoria cicala - perfection! well, i'm rambling...hahaha...../but you will simply have the BEST time in that city! enjoy, enjoy!
I hear the Czechs are as good at drinking as us Celts
Beer... for breakfast! And the beer is so pure that you don;t get hungover... when you walk into a bar, they assume you're drinking beer.... bring you one, and then refill it till you aks for the bill... really dangerous!!

Cool deal, good suggestion. Yes, I have heard of these abc hostels. I think I would also recommend staying in the centre. The night tram system is quite good. I was just in Palmovka yesterday, and it's not the prettiest of areas for a tourist. plus there is so much around you in the centre. Oh, but getting on the metro at station Palmovka I saw a huge Pearl Jam ad! It made my day.

We'd take them i reckon, just as long as we stay off the slivovice!!!
Yeah Palmovka is a bit run down but still has a lot of the character of the city and the country that people miss. Good to see we have more people joining.
Cmon the mexicans!! We kilted Scots expect no less than a sombrero.

It's one of my favorite cities too. Can't wait to get there... And your post made me even more anxious...
Penne arrabbiatta on stepenska street... I'll check that!

yes, i so wanted to show prague to my husband - another time! as i said, 2 weeks in italy and 5 pj shows - can't be too sad.
that said, i knew i listed the wrong street. stepanska is where my school was - haha.
here's a few of my fave restaurants in prague:
trattoria cicala - zitna 43 - praha 1 - spectacular food! this is THE place for penne arrabbiatta. yummy, yummy. it's a really small storefront, but the restaurant is actually, mostly, underground. i found one day walking in a new way to school, and they actually had a picture of johnny depp eating there! thought if it's good enough for johnny - have to try it - haha. sooooo good!
lemon leaf - myslikova 14 - praha 2 - excellent thai food! their spicy thai soups are delicious, great atmosphere - all around good food!
jama - v jame 7 - praha 1 - i list this only b/c it is a popular expat spot and if you want a good burger or potato skins etc, this is the place.
marco polo IV - siroka 4/24 - praha 1 - i never had dinner here, quite pricey - but beautiful place and i did have an exquisite dessert here - yum!
cantina - mala strana ujezd 38 - great mexican food! by czech standards anyway, haha. took me awhile there to find good mex food and well-priced, good place.
bohemia bagel - ujezd 16 - praha 1 and masna 2 - praha 1 - great place for breakfast or lunch - late night eating. another big expat gathering spot and really yummy comfort foods.
THANKS A LOT, decides2dream!
Most of the suggestions sound great! Since I plan to stay for a couple of days, I'm sure I'll write all that down, before I go!
Have a spledid time in Italy!
I won't say how I feel for missing Italy on this tour... :-/
For those who got tickets to Prague: Blahop?ání!!!
I'll be attending with I Scot ID... We'll be wearing kilts... you can't miss us.... we'll be with two other mates.
Please post if you're going, so that we can get our boogie going and ensure that everyone has somewhere to meet and get the atmosphere going, pre, post and during the gig.
I Scot ID used to live in Prague so he might give us an insight into kilted experiences in the czech capital..
Get talking......
CU there ScottInAmsterdam and the rest of those who are coming to one of the most charming cities in the world!

ahhh sheeeeit. i get myself in enough tricky situations without encouragement! Think I will by a bumbag to store my passport/essentials in... you flashed the poor guy? I thought eddie looked a little dazed after astoria.
Stepanska is one street up from vodickova which is where hospoda v lucerne is. Just off Wenceslas square. I have a funny feeling i was in the Italian restaurant with a friend.
We should really meet up and have Czech food and beer in a traditional restaurant before the gig....cant beat it!

yes it is. however, i have since corrected my post - not the place on stepanska, i actually did eat there once and it sucks. the GREAt italian place is actually on zitna, quite close to stepanska. trattoria ciccala...yummy, yummy...i highly reccomend it.
there IS a traditional czech restaurant definitely located on stepanska - and if you are coming from wenceslas sqaure and heading towards zitna, it will be on your right - rather large place with awnings. can't remember the name of the place - but it looks quite traditional. i personally don't care for czech food - but many of my classmates raved about the place. just a thought.
