    people vote with their dollar.

i have not bought a dominos pizza in 6 years because i do not like the ideology of their executives, just as i will not eat chick fil a because of their ideology.

they are not going to lose any business because there are going to be enough people who will make up for the money they are not getting from me....

such as this one and her army of followers....

sometimes i wonder if she actually likes the food and supports that business or if she is just trying to make a statement because she has been marginalized....

besides, it is not about money.

this is not an issue or debate about lost business and lost profits.

it it were, they would be open on sunday like everyone else....

how many of these stores are owned by franchisees?
How many of these franchisees are in lock step with the founder in ideoogy?

Its those folks that will bear the brunt of this.

Also, as it relates to this slightly overblown story , can someone show me in the bible where it defines "marriage"? Like New testament definition? Cuz as far as I know a christian should be acting in a christlike manner.I understand his death to be the replacement for the "teachings" in the old testament.

gimme can't we make our intentions be known with our dollar and still try to enact litigation that helps provide equal rights to all?

I totally agree with voting with dollars- yet another reason I rarely eat at most fast food places.

Chipotle Grill is an exception. They support local and (quite often) organic farming. Oh- and you probably won't so photo ops of Wonder Woman (I wonder what she'll do next for publicity  ) there.

    of course you can.

as far as i am concerned they can open up wherever they want, and the market will determine their success.

if you want your chicken served up with a side of hatred be my guest. i will spend my money elsewhere.

that said, if a business publicly enters the foray and favors the side of discrimination they will do so at their own risk.

Homosexuals can still eat at Chick-fil-A, and work there too, as far as I know. If not, they wouldn't be in business. They will lose business from those that actually care. There are no Chick-fil-A's here, but, you can be damn sure I won't ever be purchasing from them.

i am not sure what you are asking, because gibson's forestry tradeoffs and the application of the lacey act are completely different from a company taking a stand against the legal union of people based solely on gender.

i am doing this from memory, but a few years ago gibson got in trouble for not processing ebony that they harvested in india. they harvested it and processed it outside of india, which violates the lacey act. as a result, gibson has begun to use a heat treated wood instead of the indian ebony they used to use, which some argue is more energy intensive.

back in the 90s they started renewing forests and made a line of guitars from those forests called "smartwood" guitars, which i think they stopped making for some reason.

gibson has not come out publicly on the gay marriage issue to my knowledge.

Dude the CEO of chic fil-A gave his opinion on gay Marrige in a church of all places. It's not like he decided not to serve or not employ gays or gay couples. Sheez :fp:

no, their business has been run the same way for years. their stance, if truely in line with church teaching, is a given. and they have given money to causes that are anti gay marriage. they can vote with their money the same as all the rest of us can...

i'll give these folks credit ... they believe strongly in something and they are prepared to sacrifice business for it ...

i am gonna guess they will neither gain any more business nor lose too much business because of this ...

Well, I’ve never eaten at a Chick-fil-a outlet but I think I’ll stop by one this weekend for the sheer joy of spending my money at a place under attack by the Gay Bully Boys.

As a lesbian woman, I support a business’ right to prosper without having to pass the ever-expanding progressive litmus test of pseudo-political righteousness.

it's not like chick-fil-a's are being closed down it's just that some places that actually care about human rights don't want their shit peddled in their towns. Seems like a pretty fair use of the political process to me. If they want to hate gay people and/or not hire them that's their thing and if some cities don't want their shit then thats their thing. you can't victimize and play the victim chick-fil-hate.

Is chic Fil-a refusing not to hire or serve gay people or Gay couples for that matter ? You guys are such fucking wimps.. You bitch and Moan about us on the right being intolerant yet you are the ones causing a shit storm over this. You want to silence people that have opposing views. Did the CEO come out and say that "HE hated gay people?" No he didn't !!! What Next you gonna acuse them of being afflieated with the KKK ? Get the Fuck over it dude. This is america people have a RIGHT to believe what they want to believe.

(disclaimer - I tend to relate most situations to some episode of Seinfeld)

Anyway, this reminds me of the one where Poppy proclaimed he was pro-life; some folks left his restaurant indignant with his views, and others stayed.

I have no problem with this stance...but it also gives rise to the question - where does it end? Or begin?

With an individual? With a corporation? What if a corporation you support hires someone whose beliefs collide with your own?

Yeah yeah...thinking out loud. Perhaps a bit too out loud. Good fodder for thought though.

i never said that they didn't have the right to hate gays, dislike gays, not hire gays, etc. (that's their first amendment and private property rights)...however the same exact political process allows for towns that hold opposing viewpoints to say get your shit outta here because we don't want your religious bullshit. Don't we also have freedom of religion?

Chick-fil-a will go down in history for its bigotry, as will everyone else who takes public stands against gay rights. They will all eventually be remembered by all of society as rotten, simple minded assholes (I men in a more mainstream way than they already are now). Taking stands against alternative lifestyles in this fashion will be as outrageous as someone making black people ride at the back of the bus this day and age. It's just that civil rights take time. They always do.
