33 games this year Cubs starters have allowed 2 or fewer runs.

    Music to my ears.

Had Schwarber not been injured, and lost for the year?

This team could have single digit losses at this point in the year.
Well maybe not single digit...But ya have to think we may have pulled out 2 or 3 of those 1 run losses, had we had Schwarbers bat in the lineup.

He played plenty of games in left field last year, and nobody said a damned thing about his defense. Then he had a couple bad plays in the playoffs last year, and all of a sudden he was considered the worst left fielder in the history of baseball. Hahaha
Schwarber made 1 error last year in Left.

Maybe one day the NL will go to the DH.
Schwarber will remain a Cub for the next 15 or so years, and hit 500+ HRS.

i think the consensus is that he is a below average left fielder ... his bat definitely is what is most valuable ...

He belongs in the American League, where he would be a HOF DH.

Its fun to watch that guy hit a baseball.

He wasn't too swift in left during spring training, either. And I think platooning Bryant in left has strengthened the infield defense, too, with Baez at third. His glove is like a fucking baseball magnet. This team is fucking loaded. Better not fuck around come October because this is no doubt the best opportunity they've had in 108 years. All 5 starting pitchers with an ERA under 3. Four starting pitchers with a WHIP under 1 (all but Hammel at 1.07). 24 games beating teams by 5 runs or more. If Hendricks ever gets support from the offense, there is no reason to lose a series to anyone. ANYONE.

And since we're on the topic of left field, how about Almora making his presence know right in the first fucking inning yesterday?!!

I'd almost have to think they make room for Vogie come 40-man time.

There was some buzz on Yahoo yesterday about them going after Bautista at the trade deadline. I reeeeeeally fuckin hope not!

60 games into the season, and I guess all we need to worry about is staying healthy.
    And how cool is that?

I truly hope both Pittsburgh and St. Louis tank, and miss the playoffs.

Alcantara traded to Oakland for Coghlan. He's back. Not overly excited. Im fine with him as a bench guy only. Baez needs to be an everyday guy and move KB to LF.

Coghlan starting for 3rd game in a row is awful. Play Baez and his hot bat at 3b and KB in lf or see what you have in Almora in LF. Coghlan shouldn't even be on this team let alone be our everyday LF.

I got to see Almora a few times in Des Moines this season and he certainly looks like he can be a quality player in the majors. I was also scratching my head when they brought Coghlan back. I would like to see Bryant/Almora in LF with Baez playing more 3b.

Two blown saves in a row for Rondon. Warren is worthless.

My question is why was Hammel pulled? 7 innings, 5 hits, 1 run, no walks, 84 pitch count. 25 batters faced on 84 pitches... that's less than 4 per batter!

I'm hearing chatter of going after both Miller & Chapman. I don't know. While it would be great to have both, I fear what we'd have to give in return. At least one of the big names would have to go.

Either way, Miggy can't feel too comfortable right now. Ross is playing well and the kid is hitting like .350 in Iowa. Miggy's bat is mostly absent this year and my grandma could steal a base off of him. I see absolutely no reason to carry 3 catchers. I guess they'll see how the kid can play...and if he lives up to the hype, Miggy's days are limited.

will schwarber ever be able to fit in as a position player? guess we won't know for a while. I see him as a DH but they will have to get someone amazing in return.

How long has it been since the cubs had a closer that didn't scare the shit out of you every time they came out? Chapman would be the guy that would allow you to breathe easy in the 9th. Baez is expendible. It's not giving up on him. It's going after and filling a need.
