    Nice game by KB.

Heard today, that Bryant is the first player in MLB HISTORY to hit 3 HR & 2 doubles in the same game while going 5-5. WOW!>Impressive, but wouldn't you think that it would've been done before? Was surprised when i heard this.
Heard that too. Surprising in the 125+ yrs its never been done.

I'm confused on this as well. I've seen/heard several media outlets say first in history. I've heard some say first in modern era (Len Kasper even said this on air during the game). And I've also heard first since 1913 (but no one has named who in 1913 accomplished the feat). I'm not sure what is true. The Topps Now card I ordered yesterday states "first since 1913" on the front of the card.
Regardless, what's even more amazing is that he is only the 2nd Cub in history to have 5 extra base hits in one game! (And I've seen confusing reports on this as well. I've seen the last time mentioned as both 1885 and 1900).

Blowout game and Bryant drilled in back on 1st pitch. He DIDN'T take a curtain call the other night when begged to by the thousands of Cubs fans at the gm in Cinci and they pull this shit. In the words of Speedy "FUCK CINCI"

Yanks saying unless Schwarber is part of talks for Miller it isn't happening is laughable. No way Theo is doing that. Yes Schwarber is a liability in the field but no way do you trade a guy who is a 30+ hr dh in the al for a fn reliever, even when we could use bullpen help. This would be a stupid trade. Id keep Schwarber but if you trade him at least get your value back (prob a #2 starting pitcher imo).

I'm all for it. I want to win this year. In all my 35 years as a Cubs fan, this is arguably the best team we've fielded in my lifetime. Schwarber isn't coming back this season and we've proven we don't need him offensively. Is it a smart, long-term trade? I don't know, nor do I care at this point. 108 years and "wait til next year" has run it's course.

Im not saying Schwarber is untradable. Im saying he deserves much more value than a relief pitcher especially from an al team who schwarbs value as a dh is sky high. Give us 2 pen arms possibly, miller and a guy who would be a starter on our staff ok, although cc is probably only one who would fit that, i dont follow ny. Or miller and a high prospect or legit current mlb guy that at min makes the 25 man roster. Schwarber for miller straight up is a joke and not even close to the value the cubs should get for him especially from an al team.

I totally agree with ya when you put it that way. And they still owe us for getting Castro for basically nothing.

Yeah bottom line i dont trust ny. How many trades have they made over the past 2 decades where they didn't make out better? Again i dont put much effort into following them or the al in general but it seems every trade they make works hugely in their favor.

I don't trust NY either, but what trumps that is how much I DO trust Theo and Jed. If they make a trade of any sort, I will agree with it.

Our bullpen is hot vomit in a garbage bag.

Why is there a guy older than me on the mound trying to hold 7th inning leads?
For fuck's sake you'd think the bullpen could just have ONE night where they don't allow any runs or get into big jams every single inning?

Truth. No way Theo is that stupid. Not objected to trading Schwarber but you better get a bigger pull than 1 reliever for him. Yanks think with their short RF he could hit 50 hrs.

The Mets teed off on hammel last night. First time all year they got pounded. They need to get it out of their system now before the all star break.

Arrieta needs to be a god damn ace today and eat up some innings. This 5 inning bull shit needs to stop today.

Agreed. I worry that 2nd half Hammel is here.

I think he (Jake) fell too much in love with Jake Arrieta. Started the season well, then got talking about no hometown discount. Wanting to be paid like the best. His mojo is seemingly lost. I hope like hell that he can find it again
    ..soon.

(Now, why can't OUR bullpen pull that shit off?)

    Mr. Arrieta

How much longer until his arm falls off?
Or will he again turn in to Mr. Dominating?

    We will soon find out.

Cards had a 5 game losing streak. They sweep us. Mets had a 4 game losing streak. They're gonna sweep us. Starting pitchers can't get past 5 innings without getting to 100 pitches. The bullpen fucking blows ass and Theo says it isn't a concern.

    It's July 3rd

Reality is that Heyward will be lucky to hit .250 this year. I can see him finishing at .210.

How much did we pay him?
