  • Goldschmidt here in AZ has a a sweet stroke as well. It took a couple of seasons to learn how to adjust his swing as pitchers adjusted to him. The hitting coach will make an adjustment to help him get those inside ones and pitchers will abuse whatever the new weak zone is caused by the new mechanics. This kid could could be great but until he learns to adjust on the fly don't count the chickens until they hatch. Many other big time prospects failed for this problem.

That must be his achilles. The inside pitch. They have pounded bryant all day inside. He looks very over anxious out there. He will bounce back from this and be fine.

He will bounce back. This kid doesn't have a weakness. He's the real deal.
He is going to be a very good player but he is going to strike out a ton. There will be many multi home run games and many golden sombreros

Hit hitting coach IS very high on him. He has a unique swing, it's direct, but the ball goes up. So I would predict more flyouts than strikeouts.

That's all fine but he has struck out a ton at every level. He is going to put up big strike out numbers, but also big power numbers

Little bit better day yesterday for the phenom. 2-3, an rbi, and 3 walks. That'll boost the OBP!

We really need to start thinking about intentionally walking Middlebrooks. He's had the Cubs' number for a while.

I still can't get over seeing a game being broadcast on Wgn and not being able to watch it on Wgn. Still blows my mind.

    So where is Baez?
    In the minors?
    Or on the bench?

I think he's in the minors. I don't remember hearing about a call up.

I was not aware that Bryant was sneaky fast. Very long strides. Hopefully he can keep that up without having many leg injuries in his career.

And Davey Martinez looks almost identical now as he did when he played for the cubs in the late 80's. It doesn't look like he's aged a day.

I love that the cubs are leading the NL in stolen bases and OF assists. Hopefully Joe will continue the aggressive old school ball. I'd love to see them bunt again. A guy leads the inning off with a single. Steals second. Then gets SACRIFICED to third. There's no better way to manufacture runs in this league.

Addison Russell called up by the Cubs. Kind of a surprise to see him this early in the season, but my fantasy team is happy. Looks like he will play 2B

Yeah, I wonder if it's a little too early, but that said....they need some help at 2B.
F it, I may have to buy the MLB.TV service now...especially with stupid WGN not broadcasting games outside of IL anymore.

So if Russell could somehow manage to hit .280-.300 and be sound defensively.

What becomes of the "Golden Boy" Baez?

I would LOVE to know Castro's stats for his last 50-60 games played.
Last year before he got hurt, he was on fire. This year he has started strong, and is hitting .325

And he was supposed to be scared when they called up Baez?
He was supposed to be worried about being traded?

And why is he still batting 6th? A guy that's hitting the way he is to start the season and has a respectable career OBP should be up in the 2 or 3 spot where he'll see more plate appearances. Oh well, there's a reason Maddon is the manager and I'm writing a comment about the team on a Pearl Jam forum.

Fuck Baez. Trade him for a pitcher

Edwin Jackson has more wins than Jon Lester.

    I repeat...

Edwin Jackson has more wins than Jon Lester.

This is getting to be a fun team to watch...

Fowler - Soler - Rizzo - Bryant is a really nice top of the order. Plus you have Castro in the lineup.

The very end of the 2009 season, 83-78, was the last time they were 5 over .500! And the 2008 season was the last time they had a winning month of April.

His spring training is finally over. Now he should be in season mode.
