Cubbies are now sitting 9 games over .500?
    NICE!!!

No thanks to Lester, our $155 million pitcher, who wont get 12 wins.

But yeah, the Cubbies are playing some good ball these days.

Lester is not pitching bad. He has only given up more than 3 runs in just 3 starts this year. Once he gets a little run support, I'm sure you will approve! Lol

Anthony Rizzo is one of three players in baseball with at least a .300 average, 10 homeruns, and 10 steals. Dude is a BEAST

This team is good but the Cards showed us that we are not at their level yet
It will be interesting to see how the youngsters bounce back from this losing streak

It looks like the schedule gets a lot easier in the second half. There are a bunch of games against Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Colorado, and Atlanta. Hopefully they are still within striking distance of STL or a while card where they can make some noise.

This year's Cubs team has far exceeded my expectations. And to be fair, this year's Cardinals team has exceeded their normal division rule. Fastest they've ever been to 20 wins in franchise history. Fastest they've gotten to 50 wins in over 6 decades. But the Cubs at 40 wins & 5 over .500 at 2 weeks before the All-Star break? I'll surely take it!

If they can consistently match good hitting with good pitching, they'll be a force to be reckoned with. For now though, it seems when the hitting is good the pitching is off, and when the pitching is good they can't string together 2 hits in any given inning.

And STILL need to work on plate discipline!! Still leading the majors in K's.

The Cubs lack of pitching was/is by design. Right?
Theo's philosophy was to stockpile young hitting prospects, and when the time comes, pay for pitching. They REALLY need Lester to step up and pitch like a #1 starter. They need this guy to go something like 10-1 after the All-Star break. They need him to start earning that $155 million.

I've been saying all year they are another good ace and a closer away from being the team to beat in the NL.

Except that St. Louie is sitting 25 games over .500

But yeah, the Cubs need some pitching, no doubt.

Need to take at least 2/3 from the marlins this weekend. Would like to see the bats heat up before the Cards come to town next week.

I really think the cards are playing well above their means. I don't think they will sustain. Lynn is good and carpenter is a rock star, but they will come back to earth. I think the cubs will catch them. Especially when they get cueto from the reds!!!

Very awesome to see Ryan Dempster introduce Harry carey (in his best Harry carey voice) for the 7th inning stretch.

Wouldn't it be nice, if the Cubs could return the favor, and kick a little Cardinals ass, the next few days?

Lester needs to go out there tonight, and pitch like a $155 million dollar man. How about a complete game, 3-hit, shutout? 0 walks, 10K's.

A no-hitter thru 6. Castro grounds into a dp with a runner at 3rd & 1 out. Then 2 runs for the Cards very next half-inning, all resulting from an infield hit and an error.

This is why they win World Series and we don't.

I'd still like to know how this was completely and utterly missed on his scouting report FOR THE LAST FUCKING DECADE! Why/How did it just become a discussed issue this season??

As much as I hated them as well, they were awesome on Tengens RBI Baseball. And don't forget Tommy Herr.

Always gotta make it interesting in the end. Yeah, I know we won, but 14 LOB is ridiculous! That's damn near an average of 2 left on base per inning..which means a RISP per inning. PLATE THAT SHIT!! Thank goodness Arrieta was true to form or the 'W' flag might not be flying today.

First double-header sweep of the Cards since Pearl Jam only had one album in their catalog! Cards can't handle the Beeler-Teagarden Express! Nine games over .500 and if we were in the East or West, we'd be leading either division.

Still some issues to fix but damn this team really gets me when they're good!

Can we throw anyone other than Strop? You cannot lose that game. Of course it's a roider (stl specialty) that beats us.

You have 2 outs, ahead of the batter with a 1-2 count. You have a chance to take 3 of 4 from the Cardinals. You have a chance to finally be 10 games over .500 (the only team that hasn't managed that feat at any given time during any of the last 7 seasons. Yes, even the shitty Padres, White Sox, and Astros have climbed that mountain, not us though!)...

THROW A GOD DAMN JUNK BALL!

Not a fucking home run derby pitch. Fuckin Strop. Stupid worthless piece of shit. His ass needs to be banned from baseball for life.
