I'm so excited for this season. Many of my other teams have won championships in their respective sports, but baseball and the Cubs are my first loves. It's really strange to go into a season with a feeling of relief. No more "next year" or "this is the year." No more 1908. Just looking forward to fun baseball this season.

Same. Excited to be going to the 4th game of the yr in Milwaukee, cubs brewers at Wrigley on my bday in May, and Cubs Cards Sat game at Wrigley in July.

that said, I wish a cub or two had signed on to beat him in the WBC.

Yes! I don't think anyone outside of St. Louis likes Yadi. Figured they'd let the Giants players take care of the WBC since the Cubs took their even year away last year. Would've been nice to see Rizzo or Bryant but I really like Hosmer & Arenado, too.
First series in the books and a victory on the road! Included everything a Cubs/Cardinals series should. A game the Cards stole away from the Cubs, a game the Cubs stole from the Cards, a close pitcher's duel, swapped out our center fielders from the previous season, some admiration between WBC teammates, and a few freak plays (and thankfully Piscotty's not seriously injured).
So how does a ball stick to a chest protector like that? How can yadi deny he wasn't cheating his ass off? There's so much pine tar on your chest that the ball stick to it? Thevfuck outta here. Shiukdbhave earned him a 3 game suspension.
will myself to find a home, a home within myself we will find a way, we will find our place
No amount of pine tar is gonna make the ball stick like that. I'm not even sure you could slather the protector and ball with it, then place it by hand and have it stick.
It did look fishy and I'm still not sure, but I wonder if it kinda snagged on a piece of broken plastic. I even read that it possibly could've been like a suction cup effect.
Be curious to see what the investigation entailed.

Have you ever used a pine tar stick? On a warm day, it's literally like glue. It's very possible to have enough on your chest to make a ball stick.

Get fucking Schwarber out of the god damn leadoff spot!!! Maddon gets in his own damn way entirely too much. Stop trying to be cute and quirky with every friggin' decision and just manage the damn team!

While I hesitate to question Joe, the Schwarber batting leadoff thing is a little ridiculous. He should absolutely be batting behind Rizzo. Almora and Jay have looked pretty good at the plate, and I think would translate better in the leadoff role. We're hitting atrociously right now. Bad averages almost all the way up and down our lineup.
This Happ kid looks pretty good.

Yep, and Almora & Jay - two guys who can actually get on base - are constantly batting between the pitcher and Schwarber - two "guys" who can't hit a beach ball with a tennis racket. Of course, since the starting rotation can't ever get out of the first 3 innings without putting us 5 runs down, it doesn't matter what the bats do or don't do.

Great win for the reigning World Series Champions yesterday! Dex got his ring & showed the Cubs what they're missing, hitting a leadoff homer in his first game back at Wrigley. Lackey settled in after giving up 2 early. Bryant got us on the board and J-Hey came thru with the tying and winning RBI. Strop got us out of a big bases loaded jam and Davis locked up his 11th save. Not a whole lot of offense on either side but everything a Cubs-Cards nailbiter should be!

I was positive Strop was walking in the trying run yesterday. Nice to see him come through. The top bullpen arms have been really good so far. Davis and Edwards have been lights out. It'd be nice to put together a run of 15-5 coming up.

So awkward. Nothing fluid about it at all.
I hate Yadier Molina.
