Baez with two really nice plays in the 9th! And how about that snag from Cogs in the 7th?!Star Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250

Great win last night. It's nice to see us be able to win with small ball where we score fewer than 5 runs. Fowler was on point last night. Would've been nice if Strop and Rondon were a little more solid. Rondon wasn't terrible, but he and Strop did give up 5 hits over 2 innings and of course the 2 runs. Big props to Baez on those two plays in the 9th. Those were beautiful.0

By next season, Zobrist is going to be forced back into a super utility position again...he's already slowly playing more and more outfield. Baez has been making a lot of offensive improvements this season."A smart monkey doesn't monkey around with another monkey's monkey" - Darwin's Theory0

This week so far with the comeback win Sunday night, the CG by Hendricks on Monday when the bullpen needed a rest, and last night battling it out with good base running and defense... that's the kind of baseball that wins in October!bflynn1 said:Great win last night. Can't say enough about what Baez brings to the table defensively. I remember hearing all about his bat in the minors, and it's nearly as advertised, but he's as smooth a fielder as I think I've ever seen. He makes tough plays look like Sunday hops.
I think I'm busting out, for the first time in 5 years, the It's Gonna Happen/3quarter sleeve shirt for Wrigley.2000 - 8/21 - Columbus, OH

I think when it's all said and done, keeping Baez, Soler, and Schwarber is going to be the key to multiple trips to the WS.HesCalledDyer said:2000 - 8/21 - Columbus, OH

I love scwarber. I like baez better than soler. The reason he's (soler) still a cub is because he holds little value.will myself to find a home, a home within myself

Love the offense and depth of the bench. It's too bad we drafted absolute dick all for pitching the last 5 years. Not really. 7 innings, 3 earned, 8 ks. That should be enough to get the win EVERY time. Where's the offense?HesCalledDyer said:Lackey fucking blows.

Looks like he may have surrendered one to the first batter in the 8th, by what I'm reading. "Clifton allowed just one hit over 7 innings and struck out six." Excellent outing though!Degeneratefk said:Cubs #8 prospect Trevor Clifton is taking a no hitter into the 8th for Myrtle Beach.

Wow. Now we're starting to get that comeback feeling again from last year. 7 out of the last 8. I can't wait to get to Chicago in a few weeks. Even though there's no games, the buzz in the city is enough. I'm feeling a nice little All the Way sing along!2000 - 8/21 - Columbus, OH
