Fucking bats need to WAKE UP dammit!! Can't rely on one inning every game to get runs. That's been the motif all playoffs.

Exactly. 100% on the bats. Arms did their job. You gotta score at least 1 fn run.

Pisses me off to lose a game like that. Very proud of our bullpen. Gotta get the bats going damn it.

Our 1-4 hitters were 0-14 tonight.
  • Man that was brutal. Had a couple balls that looked decent off the bats but never seemed to go anywhere. After watching Adrian Gonzales hit his HR, I thought we'd see a few more tonight. It didn't look like he hit it very hard...but hard enough obviously.

Can't win them all..and you know this won't be easy and not stressful. Kershaw was great..Rizzo, Russell, and Heyward need to start hitting. Heyward should be benched and brought in for mid to late inning glovework only.

Seems to be consistent with cubs playoff baseball since Arizona swept us 2 years in a row a few years back.

Id like to see Contreras in left, zobrist in right and montero catching with jake on tthe hill Tuesday.

With Rich Hill the probable starter, that'll most likely be the case. That should make Montero/Rizzo as our only left-handed bats. Still wouldn't mind letting Soler try to get going a little bit, but his at bats have been hard to watch lately. Come to think of it, I'd really like to see the following lineup for Tuesday....

    1. Fowler
    2. Baez
    3. Bryant
    4. Rizzo
    5. Contreras
    6. Zobrist
    7. Russell
    8. Montero

Guys on the radio.." Does Heyward's bat have mortadella in it??? The ball goes nowhere when hit!" Haha

Yea I'm fine with that lineup or even Soler. 4-64 those guys i mentioned in playoffs..seesh

Bullpen nearly melted again. Offense once again saved you guys. Can the offense continue to bail out the pen in these next games?

At some point, the offense always has to bail you out. It's the only way to score runs.

That being said, yes. The cubs had the most comeback wins when trailing after 8 than any team in baseball.
Can't just say I'm right eh? Haha! I follow baseball a little bit you know.

I'm not a fan of Contreras in the OF. Why not just keep heyward in right and let Wilson catch? Heyward is a better hotter than miggy.

So what are we thinking... Kershaw starts game 5 and ready for a long bullpen outing if needed in game 7? Or does he start games 4 (on 2 days rest again) & 7?

I think they're going to try and ride Kershaw until his arm falls off, and I don't blame them. If he keeps saying he's good to go, then why would they change a thing? I personally don't think there's a chance in hell that he throws game 4.

The Cubs are doing well :)
  • I like:

    Fowler - CF
    Bryant - 3B
    Rizzo - 1B
    Zobrist - RF
    Soler - LF
    Contreras - C
    Baez - 2B
    Russell - SS
    Arrieta - P

This gets the lefty bats of J-Hey and Miggy out of the lineup. "ACE" may want Montero behind the plate, but I think Contreras provides us a better chance to score runs. And he can really frame pitches too.

I like that lineup. Russell definitely needs moved down until he hits the damn ball. I don't care if he had 96 RBI in the regular season, he ain't doing a fucking thing in the playoffs. Rizzo probably needs moved around, too. Where, I don't know. Switch him and Zobrist. Might be more comfortable in the cleanup spot.
  • Besides, Russell did his most damage at the end of the lineup. I don't think you move Rizzo. Don't want to shake up too much quite yet.
