  • Hipthruster, any word on what the batting order is on Wednesday night would be great...

  • I think its worth noting that on the website it says 'To be ANNOUNCED' rather than the more traditional 'To be CONFIRMED'. This implies that they definitely have someone lined up.

I would love to see U2 with PJ but sadly I dont think it will happen.

    5 days to go!!
  • im afraid to say its paddy casey. i know one of the lasds that plays with paddy..so yeah terrible choice really...he's too small to play in the point! the man is tiny!

  • Ah now...that's just not on. Paddy Casey blows.

Please not Paddy Casey. Heard the song once and hate it, I feel sorry for the irish people who've put up with this rubbish on the radio and then forced to watch him support PJ. :(

An acoustic set would be nice, but extremely unlikely.

Ok, I knew nothing of the guy, never even heard of him...but just went on his website and listened to a few track... nooooo
I can't believe they'd wait the last minute and we'd end up with this rubbish!!
it's so lame! I can think of a million bands that'd be better than that. Hell MMJ is better and god knows I'm not looking forward to that.
I'd rather have no opening, not even a pre-set from Ed, than this...I'm going to have to hold my bladder for an extra hour for that??!!

    so dissapointed.
  • apologies for being the bearer of bad news! but yeah its terrible! I really just dont understand it! i still dont no y its not announced as well...apperently they've known for a good while as well! im still hopin its all a horribly mistake and that im wrong but i dont think so!ah well..what harm...it'll only be 45 minutes or whatever and then we all get to see pj so it doesn't really matter!

well it is alot of harm.........a good support band gets people hyped for the main act, Paddy Casey will make me feel nothing he will just be some guy i will sit through in silence and clapping at the end of every song (cause its kinda rude to talk while someones performing)

(i still would prefer him to u2 though)

not much harm in the sense that everyone there shouldn't need to be hyped..sit there and listen to him...i'm waitin to to see this gig for years..im not goin 2 let paddy casey take away from that in the slightest...everyone would have preferred a decent band but MCD dont seem to know what there doing a lot of the time!

  • This puts a big downer on the night. I was looking forward to something special. Don't get me wrong, Pearl Jam will be amazing but Paddy Casey will certainly take from a night that could have been so much better.

  • i'm suprised people are gettin so upset about this...i dont see how it will put a downer on the night! thats just my oppinion but judgin by peoples reaction i think im on my own on this one!

i just checked his webby and he doesnt do it for me!

    but it said

"As many of you will already know, unfortunately the gig in Carlow at The Music Factory did not take place on Saturday night as planned due to Paddy losing his voice to laryngitis."

how long does it take to recover from laryngitis??cause dublin is only 4 days away now!
  • Quite a while, I think... but it won't 'ruin' the night if the support is shit. It'll just make PJ seem even better! I mean, personally, I'd prefer no support to a time-filler because then PJ might be able to play for longer. But I've seen plenty of gigs where the support was shit and it didn't detract from the experience... it's about the headliners, after all.

I'm with you on this one...yeah a great opener would be awesome, but it's not going to ruin my PJ show if the opener is crap! :) We'll just have to sit thru it since it's GA and we want to have a good spot!

Sorry...where does it say that this guy is the support act? I dont see any concrete confirmation about this.

I don't think it says anywhere..people are speculating. But why get upset if you don't like the opener? Who cares?!? It's PJ we're coming to see!

Way!!! Carlow, my town, getting a mention back there .. wooohooo ... er, well, ok, not that exciting ...

If he is to be the support, give him a break and don't go a' booing and looking bored, it's not his fault you don't like his style, or that he's the only one who'll do support, Belle X1 would have been great yeah, but at the moment they're trying to crack the UK, they've already been succesful in Ireland, their latest album was out before Christmas here and is only being released now in the UK so ...

Anyway, be nice, and just grin and bare it, I'm sure his set won't be too long, and besides his music Paddy C is actually a nice down to earth typical Irishman. Give him a chance, he might be better live?

Excatly!!! And whats the point in getting upset when its not confirmed! Wasted energy my friends!

PJ will rock at dublin so much.

Ooh, final note, what is the general procedure for buying posters? Do u buy then beforehand and take them in with you, or can you by them before and pick them up after the show? I really dont want mine getting squashed!!!

  • My original thought was that it'd be likely to be someone who was sharing the bill with them at Reading and Leeds but that looks unlikely now.

You think that a load of bands would jump at the chance to support Pearl Jam.

Maybe Ash will do it as a last minute stand in.....though PJ could still be pissed at them after they turned down that US tour with them all those years ago.

Hi Housing Jim Im going to Dublin too. When are you flying over? Im going tuesday afternoon. Got my welsh flag ready! Im really getting excited although i got my tickets off ebay and im also panicing a bit about the tickets. Hope they are genuine. Hope to see you there!

hey there, I was just wondering to myself why we seemed to be the only folk heading over from Wales :)

We're going over on Monday lunchtime, from Bristol.

    You a Cardiff native then?

Sure your tickets will be fine :)

Cool....I shall keep an eye out for the flag then! Bridgend isn;t too far from Cardiff is it?

I gotta confess, I've only lived in Wales for 18 months but I do love Cardiff :)

There doesn't seem to be much love for PJ round these parts though....it's all tight jeans and stripey tops and silly haircuts. Lost Prophets have a lot to answer for!!!

Yeah, sounds cool. You planning on heading to The Temple Bar Pub for a few drinks beforehand ?(as detailed in the Dublin Schedules thread).

I'm actually from West Yorkshire but my girl is Cardiff born and bred which is why I've ended up here :)

Okay...I look for some one with terrible dress sense ;) You look for someone who looks a bit like Rivers from Weezer and a girl who looks a bit like Pink :)
