  • Hey, roubal, where did you hear that?

I seriously hope there's no support... I'm thinking 45-minute-1 hour acoustic opening set, then a 3-hour-plus main set, with a few encores or so...

Then down the pub with the boys afterwards.

    Well, I can dream, can't I?

Reading through this thread there seems to be a SERIOUS lack of decent Irish acts around at the moment :o
    The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
    Verona??? it's all surmountable

    Wembley? We all believe!

God please not Paddy Casey...There's plenty of good Irish bands that would be up to the task

    Jaded Sun http://www.myspace.com/jadedsun

    New York Fashion Week http://www.myspace.com/newyorkfashionweek

I could probably go on,but yeah it would also be cool if they just open for themselves.A nice acoustic set would be cool.

    True :)

Well I like a lot of Irish bands but probably not the kind that people here would like and mainly for their live gigs: the Devlins, Mundy, David Kitt, Jape, The Redneck Manifesto. All that kinda crap - they're all excellent live though.

tbh, I don't really mind who is supporting though... as long as it isn't the Datsuns... worst support act ever!!!

I read it on Bugs, European PJ mailing list which I am subscribed to. I really hope this isn't true as well. I mailed 10c and asked if they can confirm this or is this show going to be "an evening with PJ" kind of gig, and all I got was "check out our website", which still says TBA.

Odd that 10C is being so tight-lipped on this. It really makes me think something's up. If it was just going to be PJ only, they would have said by now.

  • You may have a point there, SoonForgotten2. It still says 'TBA' - you'd have thought that they'd just tell us one way or the other, seeing as it's only 6 days away now. What makes me more suspicious is that the other date with no support states explicitly that that is the case.

i don't care who supports them as long as it isn't u2........i'd perfer to see the spice girls (they're still going right?) be the support act more than u2.

oh come on... even if you have problems with the all shebang around them (I do have some too), the music alone is a million times better than Spice bloody Girls! (thank god they're long gone!!)

just close your eyes (so you don't have to see Bono posing) and pretend you don't know who it is and I'm sure you'd enjoy it (enough).

seems they're one of those people that it's fashionable to hate, even by people who have no clue what the music is like.

Unfortunatley i do have a clue what their music is like, thats because they release the same music year after year. :p:D

i think you underestimate how much i loathe u2, i can't stand them at all, i gave them a chance, i even bought their greatest hits but i still don't like them.

anyway i wouldn't mind a band like bell x1 supporting pj i'm not a big fan of theirs but they do have a couple of good songs.

but paddy casey?!?! ....i really hope not

I'm not a huge U2 fan but thats a bit harsh. What about Achtung Baby or Zooropa, hardly the same as anything else they've ever done

  • Zooropa sounded like the leftovers of Achtung Baby....the sonsg which they decided at the time weren't good enough to make the album but then put out years later to fill the gap and flog more records.

I like The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby but I don't think U2 have made a good record in about 15 years now

Don't think you lads have anything to worry about it's not like U2 are going to support pearl jam in the point ....... Bono's ego and head wouldn't fit in through the doors ... why do yah think its always outdoor gig the band seem to prefer playing..... ;)

As i said i wasnt defending them but they have made some great records in the past and continue to sell tons of records & concert tickets so they must be doing something right for someone!!

Yeah, I wouldn't be too big a fan either, I don't have any of their albums, but I have to admit that 'One' is a wonderful song.

p.s. someone mentioned Bell X1. I'd love them to support, they have some really great songs.

Bell X1 are a popular choice... but they're headlining the point themselves in November or December, aren't they?

    They were brilliant at Oxegen

Yes, December 1st I think. I heard they were great at Oxegen too. I only went to the first day. Should've gone to the second day but wanted to watch the World Cup Final!

I watched it there. There were big screens in the campsites... and I think they showed it in the Arena too. It was funny cos everyone cheered when Italy won and people were hugging strangers and stuff and then it was like 'right see ya!' :D

  • Its got to be Bell X1.
If anyone in the know is interested I can contact them. I saw them last night playing in London and they were brilliant.
This would be a great opportunity for them, however they are no strangers to the big stage.
Its the perfect combination. Two of my favourite bands!
