Anyone who has bought new NY vinyl recently? Can you tell me if his vinyls come with download codes? (yea goldrush, I'm guessing you're the man who can tell me... ;) )

Haven't bought any of his newly released albums, but there was nothing with the reissues or Massey Hall out of what I bought.

Anyone else think that "Ragged Glory" is the album that Pearl Jam probably got its name from?

I seem to recall Jeff or someone saying on PJ20 how they got their name because they went to a Neil Young show and they loved how the show had these long, drawn out "jams."

Haha...I have no clue if this is that album, but boy, Neil and the CH boys really rock on this one. Every song is like 10 minutes long and filled with like 15 sweet solos. In short, the album really "jams."

  • With Americana coming out in a few weeks and sounding rather promising based on the first two songs we've heard, I thought it was a good time to start a Neil Young thread. I haven't seen one on here.

What's everyone's favorite stuff by Uncle Neil?
Unfortunately Americana did not do it for me.....oh well. He is now releasing another album in a couple of months too. I'mm seeing him twice this year so I am really pumped.

    My favorite Neil Albums:
    5. Live Rust
    4. Everybody Knows this is Nowhere
    3. Reacto
    2. Mirrorball
    1. Tonights the Night

The post also says that the blu-ray will have videos for every song - at 27+ minutes, Driftin' Back will be longer than some TV shows! Really looking forward to these jams, the live video of Walk Like A Giant is great.

Journeys and Waging Heavy Peace are due out soon too so this may be an expensive couple of months as a Neil fan! :)

I'm reading Shakey by Jimmy McDonough and (1) its awesome so far, and (2) it's very interesting to read about how Neil, when he played in "Neil Young and the Squires" was trying different arrangements of "She'll Be Comin' Round The Mountain," "Clementine," "Tom Dula," and "High Flying Birds." Makes me appreciate Americana much more, knowing that this album was a project in his mind for over 40 years (apparently).

SO jealous. I'm going back and forth, trying to find a way to get to either the Chicago show (which is on a damn Thursday night) and the Winnipeg show (which is a Friday, but a 7 hour drive away). Right now, I could fly to Chicago and get in around 4pm, and fly back the next morning (because I have to be back at work that next morning) and get into Minneapolis around 7:25am, for about $169.90 + tickets to the show, cab, and hotel. No way my wife says yes!

The Winnipeg show requires a 7 hour drive (or a $900...yes $900 flight from MSP to Winnipeg), which means missing work, and then hotel + tickets etc.

Neither one is a great option right now...
