I haven't committed one way or the other yet. The only thing I've committed to was two PJ shows, a Red Sox game and flying out to Seattle on Thursday and back on Tuesday.

Way to keep the options open... I still haven't decided on the Sox game but figure I'm in.

What about trying to get a hotel in a nearby town? I was looking into that last night... someone said the town of Ellensburg is only 45 minutes away, I think that's very doable.

Ellensburg is nearby, however all the hotels are already booked that weekend (so says Expedia).

In this case yes. Some of them are sold out, I've doubled checked with the hotels. Days Inn is sold out I remember that. A Comfort Inn in Ellensburg has rooms for $130 a night. Did I mention that camping is only $30 a night per car? ;)

Again, I'm still being non-committal about camping or the hotel, but the argument about wasting time driving back and forth really doesn't hold much water for me. I mean I'm not sure about everybody else, but I'll be driving up and back to both East Rutherford shows same day. And if I go to DC, I'll be doing the same.

I just don't see how riving up and back for East Coast shows is any different then driving up and back for the Gorge.

And if I didn't have accommadations for Pittsburgh already, I would drive up and back for that show as well.

Well here's my reasons for camping at the Gorge and I'm not trying to sway anyone one way or another just giving my opinion.
For me, I do not want to be driving 3 hours in a car after being out in the sun all day. I know I'll basically be exhausted and want to just wind down and relax. Especially since the campground is a relatively close and cheap way to do so. Also part of the reason for going out there is to experience the west coast and soak in as much as I can. I've never been any further west then ohio so its a chance for me to see and just appreciate the beauty out there. I would rather do that face to face then thru a car window. Lastly and least important is just safety and gas prices. I'm sure by then gas will be exorbitately priced and the thought of me, tired and having to drive 3 hours on desert highways just dosen't seem like a fun way to end a wonderful day.

Speaking of womenfolk, where's julie at? Still recovering from her Boston marathon experience or did she get locked out of work computers when they realized how much faster the server ran when she was gone? ;)

Just wanna let it be known that I'm not trying to piss anyone off by talking about the camping and being a spokesperson. I drove back last year and wished I had camped out - the experience being one reason, and how tired I was by the time I got half way to Seattle being the other.

With that, I've updated the website once again with hotel information and links to them in the surrounding area. I hope you guys find it useful, just trying to help.

that's what happens gracie when you spend your day talking to overgrown fratboys like us.

like chrom, i think the pros of camping outweigh the cons, mainly the convenience factor. i can imagine listening to some tunes around a fire with the mountains around. does anyone know if it'll be a full-moon (or close)?

HEY - my aunt & uncle out in Seattle own an RV. There's an idea ;)

Actually it will be an almost moonless sky. There is a New Moon (which for astronomically challenged people means non-visible moon) on the 25th so there may only be a tiny sliver for the nights of the Gorge.

On a side not, the crowd at Hershey in 2003 almost ruined my show, but the full moon right by the stage made for a very cool vibe.
