Exactly ... Let's not forget he has done a lot of damage to the middle class and poor people. Ushered in the largest deficit in Canadian history, inherited a huge surplus, to boot.

I'm also more bummed about the cuts to CBC......due in large part to the cuts by our former Finance Minister.

    Edit: how I used ``are`` instead of ``our`` I don`t know.

    Speaking of the greens.....

I recently reviewed the Green Party Web site. The Idea hit me because I can't vote Con or Lib ever again. I always vote, call me crazy but I just can't cop out of something so important. Anyway, I like what I saw in the green party values and mission statements and it will always be a toss up with the NDP. I think this country, indeed the world is in dire need of new, radical direction and leadership. The doomsday clock is ticking. We need to shift power away from the money establishment, for money has no consideration of people or the environment that sustains all life. If a party like the greens where to have a the stage, maybe we could claw back some of the laws that give banks and corporations so much power over the people and the environment. Money is killing the world and it needs to go. By the way, I wrote a little ode to taxes today. You can find it in Poetry and Prose- instant thoughts-page 41- under the title CHOKE ON IT TAXMAN. Nice thread, join the Z movement friend.

Thanks for those very funny and completely frightening clips, they had me laughing and concerned simultaneously. Rick Mercer has been a beacon for exposing the most ridiculous facts about Canadian Government for years. Sadly, a 39% voter turnout plays right into the hands of big money government. Conservative's vote.....to a man, woman and clone. This is why the new laws that look to stop voting without Government ID are on the table. It's sure to get a 38% voter turnout and a bigger PC majority.
Look, I try and make it a point of my life to not tell people what to do. I have come completely to terms with that little line at the bottom of my posts. But, when it comes to politics, I can't hold back. People gotta get informed. Take a stand for what you believe in and choose. It's ok to be wrong, its ok to vote for the "also ran". But Carlin has it all wrong for Canada, he is totally right for America, its all the same secret society running that show....and they are evil.
Lets get some social democrats in Parliament. Lets get some environmentalists in the house. Lets kick out the corporations and the financial Warlocks. They really don't give a flying Fcuk about anyone....at all, they have proven it. We need responsible, considerate people making decisions about everything and we need real discussion about the imminent danger the present free market, monetary way of doing thing has gotten us into here. Eddie V said it best in "Infallible". Its time we best begin here at the ending.

Thanks for the Thread, I liked the vids.

Yep, we're fucked. Mainly because the non-right vote is split between the Libs, the NDP and a tiny bit the Green. It's this fact that has me knowing that we will NEVER be able to say goodbye to the Conservative government. Not unless the Libs and NDP agree on a coalition.

I always vote NDP in BC (my god, the BC liberals are just as bad as the conservatives if not worse), but yeah, nationally I think I'm might have to vote fucking liberal for the very reason I mentioned. Plus the national NDP party is just kind of wallowing around in its own shit right now..... I am still mourning Jack Layton every day. :(

Unfortunately the only way I see things changing is if enough people realize that we've been voting in the liberals and conservatives forever and we seem to be in constant decline ... So now these people either have to vote for alternative party or put enough pressure on the government to bring in proportional representation.

You are very right ... We need a different electoral system before it's too late.

I am surprised ... Very NDP friendly budget. I do not think this liberal government deserves another chance. Unfortunately I wish people would wake up and realize that running huge deficits will have such a major impact on future governments ability to provide services.

Who do the people elect? I can see a liberal minority again, maybe PC minority. The NDP could gain seats as we'll. Who knows ...

In ontario are choices are not good. All 3 leaders are bad. And an election was called for June 12th ... So we'll see.

Maybe an NDP minority might not be bad. Then I think it's likely that the PC'S and the liberals are both looking for new leadership.

I generally think that a minority government is even worse that a bad majority government. With a minority government nothing ever really gets done.... ends up being almost like Congress vs Senate in the US.

I seem to remember a pretty productive Harper minority government. I looked around on the internets to try and find some stats on bills passed around that time period but I couldn't find anything. My Google skills are weak tonight.

This is going to be a wild election. I can't feel the pulse of the province right now except that a lot of people want to paint the Libs in the same slime as McGuinty. I am willing to give Kathleen Wynne a bit of a clean slate. I support labor so I really liked the items in her last budget. I think Andrea's NDP think they can make some real gains in this election. Why else wouldn't they support such a good budget. I think the provincial pension plan is a needed idea. So for me its a toss up between the center and left, as usual. problem is my riding is blue up and down. No party even came close to the PCs in the last Fed or Prov elections. I am looking to see where the debates will be in Caledon, Hey maybe a fist fight will break out like in Korea or some former Soviet satellite State. That would be awesome \:D/ Get out and vote....and put down the conservatives at every turn!

Personally I think The NDP waited 1 year to long to bring down Wynn. I do agree that it's time to let the people decide ...

In my opinion any budget that runs deficits are terrible budgets - strike 1, the ontario pension plan modelled after cpp, strike 2 another payroll tax - those are the big 2 for me. These deficits and debt that the province is accumulating will eventually kill off our social safety net ... So be prepared to pay for more services in the future.

Ok Granted Deficits are killers. But here is the problem. The government can't be outsourced. So these unionized jobs that have always been the only real pressure the private sector has to keep wages up or they lose their talent are here. The private sector (manufacturing) is leaving for the unregulated, Slave ships of the far east. Hard to blame big money for it because Big money don't give a shit. So, do we as a people give into the Hudaks of the nation and leap head first into this race to the bottom,or, do we stand up to this sell out of our way of life by these Greedy corporate CEO's that only care about their own personal wealth and the "Shareholder" portfolios. Globalization is going to kill our way of life. And we are letting this criminal activity happen without a fight. Check out "Death by China", its on Netflix. We need to prosecute Globalization. We have to start with Social democratic governments bringing an end to this crime.

We need the private sector to up wages for workers. They have been recording record profits for decades. The free market is a big mistake. more controls on corporations is what is needed. Hell, a cap should be placed on the size of any corporation. Far eastern workers are slaves. We can't support their governments visa vie our companies doing business their for profit. China is a menace to the stability of the world. We need to bring our companies back from their asap!

And Hudak wants to privatize the whole province. Why? So the rich can gobble up these profits from the government. Then pay lower wages which in turn will reduce taxes back to the system and kill our social safety net even further. Its a vicious circle.
I'm so very sick and tired of capitalism.

Great conversation. I wikied Andrea Horvath the other day. Down to earth person with a blue collar Ontario upbringing. Exactly the kind of considerate, thoughtful, and straight forward person I am looking for in a leader. Wynn is my runner up. Hudak is a liar and a charlatan.

I'm certainly not advocating outsourcing the government ... but yes many government jobs can and are done by the private sector. What I do advocate is for a government that spends responsibly, adjust with the economic conditions ...

Under this current government the public sector has grown leaps and bounds, especially the amount of government workers on the sunshine list.
