it doesn't mean that zimmerman was a racist ... it's a story about race because:
* would there have been an earlier arrest if martin was white
* would there have been as much media attention if martin was white
* would there be the outrage by members of the community/public if martin was white
* would sharpton/obama/jackson have gotten involved if martin was white
ultimately, as i have been saying for a while, issues of race have not been resolved in the american public ... the belief that is has been is only denial ... race plays a significant role in the daily happenings in america (and the rest of the world for that matter) ... amongst a myriad of issues ... this case is a story about what it means to be a young black male in america ...
Well said.
I wonder ...
* would there have been an earlier arrest if Zimmerman was black
* would there have been as much media attention if Zimmerman was black
* would there be the outrage by members of the community/public if Zimmerman was black
* would sharpton/obama/jackson have gotten involved if Zimmerman was black
Media would never have reported it
Al and Jessie would not have given a damned
Obama and Holder would not have given a damned either
Because all three get off on inciting violence and Hatred by using Black men and women..
Has anyone heard how Americans (all races) get along with each other from the media or Obama?....
in real life Americans get along, we work and live side by side......even marry out of our race...
I am 53 years old and have not seen a race related incident since Middle school....
Its all propaganda...
live and let live...unless it violates the pearligious doctrine.
I am sad about this case. Namely because of all the nonsense surrounding the death of a teenager over what appears to be two reactions to a situation that should have been different. If one of them had been Trayvon would be alive. either one...
The idea of race in the case is bothersome. making this case about race polarizes and almost demeans the experiences of young African American males with the police. There is a giant disparity in police contact between African American males and the rest of the country. Does this mean that our system is racist? I don't know. What I do know is that there can never be a rational discussion about it because everyone seems to want to force the statistics to meet their narrative. For instance, i can look at the abnormally high incidence rates and claim most young black males must be criminals, or I can look at those stats and say that the abnormally high rates come from a racist system that profiles young black...either way some will believe me right...
Most americans get along just fine, but these cases prove that it is almost impossible to have a rational discussion and that makes me sad.

Charles Barkley is the first talk-show person not to put some kind of a spin on the case. Nice to see someone without a pro-GZ or a pro-TM bias. This is the most thought provoking comments i've seen from a talking head.
from CNBC:
CHARLES BARKLEY: Well, I agreed with the verdict. I feel sorry that young kid got killed. But they didn't have enough evidence to charge him. Something clearly went wrong that night. Clearly something went wrong. I feel bad for anybody who loses a kid, but if you looked at the case and you don't make it -- there was some racial profiling, no question about it. But something happened that changed the dynamic of that night, and I know -- that's probably not a popular opinion among most people but just looking at the evidence I agreed with the verdict.
I just feel bad because I don't like when race gets out in the media because I don't think the media has a pure heart, as I call it. There are very few people have a pure heart when it comes to race. Racism is wrong in any, shape, form -- a lot of black people are racist too. I think sometimes when people talk about racism, they say only white people are racist. There are a lot of black people who are racist. I don't like when it gets out there in the media because I don't think the media has clean hands.
MARIA BARTIROMO, CNBC: I'm glad you made that point.
BARKLEY: Obviously I feel sorry that young kid got killed but just judging by the evidence, I don't think that guy should have went to jail the rest of his life. Something happened bad that night, obviously.
BARTIROMO: I like what the juror said, they both should have walked away. And if there is a shadow of a doubt, there is a shadow of a doubt.
BARKLEY: And let me tell you, Mr. Zimmerman was wrong to pursue -- he was racial profiling. I think Trayvon Martin, God rest his soul, I think he did flip the switch and started beating the hell out of Mr. Zimmerman. But it was just a bad situation. And like I said, the main thing I feel bad for, it gives every black and white person who is racist a platform to vent their ignorance.
That's the thing that bothers me the most because I watched this trial closely and I watch all these people are television talking about it. A lot of people have a hidden agenda. You know, they want their racist views, whether they are white or black --

The bus driver and how his nuts were tied so tightly by society that he felt he couldn't intervene. The pendulum has swung waaaaaaaaay tooooooooo far away towards irresponsible, poorly behaved children. These little street rats paid no attention to the bus driver because they knew that any adult who placed a hand on them would be charged and hung. The bus driver knew this as well.
If the bus driver had intervened and, say pushed a kid or got himself tangled up in a bit of a scrap with these insolent brats... he'd be public enemy number one for at least a couple of days.
I wish for the days when a responsible adult, facing the same situation, could simply wade into the situation and do whatever it took to thwart the beating the young guy endured. We have rendered people useless with our critical nature and backwards ass thinking. We have empowered the weak and the corrupt by limiting the abilities of people to do what is right.

Trayvon Martin was shot and killed. There were no charges filed against Zimmerman for quite some time. That is what the outrage was about.
These kids are juveniles. No one was shot. No one was killed. And the article says that the kids are due in court.
You are outraged because Faux News told you to be outraged.

Well, according to this article the 3 teens he shot were breaking into cars. Trayvon did no such thing.
That fact alone may be why it wasn't as major as Trayvon's case.

I think it's pretty obvious why Trayvon's case was so major. Aggressive white man shoots and kills UNARMED black boy. the media made this case what it is. after all I've read about it, guilty or innocent, this case was made famous by the media and the leaders of the black community every time something happens that reminds them of the early 1900's. it's really that simple.

zimmerman was found "not guilty" by the laws and jury in Florida people will just have to get used to that, had this happened in California the out-come may have been different.
Glen I know what you are saying about the difference in the zimmerman case and others and I don't want to surf the internet just to prove you wrong, zimmerman's case was stacked aginst him in my opinion with a 6 person all female jury and the fact remains that due to laws and evidance in the state of florida the jury had no other option but to find him not guilty even some of the jurrers stated publicly that they were sorry for their dission but the fact remains that the laws found him not guilty and that was without the "stand your ground" law.

If you were to think a little and answer the question yourself you would find that the case you presented and the Zimmerman case are not even comparable. The outrage with the Zimmerman case was that an unarmed teenager was killed and the killer was charged with no crime for at least a month. That was why Sharpton/Jackson were outraged and calling for attention. Get it?

Yes....that was the initial outrage. If Zimmerman would have been immediately arrested then it's unlikely that Sharpton/Jackson would have been involved. That he was not arrested and given Sanford PD prior issues it became a feeding frenzy.
Sharpton was basically saying they arrest blacks for doing nothing and let people like Zimmerman go for killing blacks. Not saying he's right or wrong...that's just what the outrage was about

nailed it ! and this is the misconception that started it all "Aggressive white man shoots and kills UNARMED black BOY." zimmerman is half Mexican also but the media and black community ran with the white man side of the story
then used photos of Trayvon that were of him when he was 12 years old so the black community and the media tried to sell the public a story that was filled with half truths to begen with.
No, I believe Sharpton and Jackson would have somehow forced their way into the case some other way. That's how they make a living.
i wholeheartedly disagree.
sharpton and jackson get involved when bullshit happens.
an unarmed kid get shot and killed and the killer does not even get charged for 44 days. it was swept under the rug by a corrupt police department. this is the part that is bullshit.
if zimmerman gets arrested right away, proper procedures had been followed and there is no cause for outrage. when a killer walks around for 44 days and no arrest or investigation happens, that is bullshit and sharpton and jackson are gonna get involved.
they are social activists. this is what they do.

You know what pisses me off about this video?
WARNING: THIS IS A PARODY. SO WATCH IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH BEFORE YELLING AT ME IN THE COMMENTS.
ohhhhhh kayyyyy now it's scarrier white people
Godfather.
couldn't agree more...and I'll leave my post at that..
Godfather.
Trayvon Martin was shot and killed. There were no charges filed against Zimmerman for quite some time. That is what the outrage was about.
These kids are juveniles. No one was shot. No one was killed. And the article says that the kids are due in court.
You are outraged because Faux News told you to be outraged.

I believe the point being made is that there many cases all over the US that are as important as the zimmerman trial that get no attention from jackson and sharpton, those two are just opertunistic grand standers and racist and their media attention is well know to spark outrage amung the black communitys..and they use it, so all these other cases of black on white beatings and killings are brought up to say "look it's not just blacks being hurt or killed" you my friend are just as guilty of a media fed public and one sided thinking as anybody you just see the other side, not saying you are wrong but neither am I.
the picture is much bigger than any one person sees.

How about this one http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/07/tim-mcnabb/black-man-shoots-white-teen-jury-says-self-defense-and-nobody-cares/
Well, according to this article the 3 teens he shot were breaking into cars. Trayvon did no such thing.
That fact alone may be why it wasn't as major as Trayvon's case.
You can spend your time alone, redigesting past regrets, oh

I think it's pretty obvious why Trayvon's case was so major. Aggressive white man shoots and kills UNARMED black boy. the media made this case what it is. after all I've read about it, guilty or innocent, this case was made famous by the media and the leaders of the black community every time something happens that reminds them of the early 1900's. it's really that simple.

The kid was in the act of committing a crime
The shooter was "Promptly arrested on a charge of second degree murder".....THIS is the key factor in the outrage over the Trayvon Martin case.
Honestly....some of you do not know the facts and you have no idea what you are even arguing. As I said you are outraged because Faux News told you to be.

Godfather.
your comment "outraged because Faux News told you to be" just weakens your argument, I understand your position on this case but lashing out with such comments adds no substance to your argument,"Faux News" was not in the jury box or the judge that was by law obligated to set zimmerman free.
some people listen to Fox and some listen sharpton and jackson I guess that's just the way "Freedom of Speach" and right to choose works.
Godfather.
This doesn't make any sense.
The question you should have asked originally was "Where are the white leaders and why aren't they outraged like Sharpton/Jackson?"
Get it?

that has absolutely nothing to do with this. You were asking why there wasn't outrage over the case that you presented.
I'm not questioning the jury's verdict. No where in my comments could you interpret that.

I hate getting back into this, but your saying the case would not have gotten the attention because Zimmerman wasn't charged right away?
Yes....that was the initial outrage. If Zimmerman would have been immediately arrested then it's unlikely that Sharpton/Jackson would have been involved. That he was not arrested and given Sanford PD prior issues it became a feeding frenzy.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/2 ... 74975.html
Sharpton was basically saying they arrest blacks for doing nothing and let people like Zimmerman go for killing blacks. Not saying he's right or wrong...that's just what the outrage was about
agree?

No, I believe Sharpton and Jackson would have somehow forced their way into the case some other way. That's how they make a living.
nailed it ! and this is the misconception that started it all "Aggressive white man shoots and kills UNARMED black BOY." zimmerman is half Mexican also but the media and black community ran with the white man side of the story
then used photos of Trayvon that were of him when he was 12 years old so the black community and the media tried to sell the public a story that was filled with half truths to begen with.
Godfather.
sharpton and jackson get involved when bullshit happens.
an unarmed kid get shot and killed and the killer does not even get charged for 44 days. it was swept under the rug by a corrupt police department. this is the part that is bullshit.
if zimmerman gets arrested right away, proper procedures had been followed and there is no cause for outrage. when a killer walks around for 44 days and no arrest or investigation happens, that is bullshit and sharpton and jackson are gonna get involved.
they are social activists. this is what they do.
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
