Those were PROFESSIONAL football players right? I mean, when I wasn't looking they didn't have a strike and put in scabs or anything did they?

28 point leads are easy to blow when you are going to play a zone against Tawwmy boy, and your offense decides it can't even get a first down for a quarter in order to ice the game. What impressed me most was that when it seemed like San Fran was "trying" they kicked the living shit out of New England physically. That usually only happens when they play the Giants.

As for gimmicky/creativity...all I meant by that was that it is easy to look really good when teams can't match up with you. As soon as they do (New England vs. AZ/Sea/SF/Bal) they have a much tougher time scoring. The 31 from last night doesn't strike me as an indicator for a full game in the Super Bowl against San Fran. Particularly (if they still are healthy and only playing 12) because during the Super Bowl you get MASSIVE rest breaks that overwhelmingly goes against New England on offense which tries to pull an NFL-Oregon and try wearing everyone out.

here are brady's numbers vs denver (4th ranked defense in league, 4th in points allowed)
C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT SACKS QBR RTG
    T. Brady 23/31 223 7.2 1 0 4-30 82.1 104.

here are brady's numbers vs houston (7th ranked defense in league, 6th in points allowed)
C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT SACKS QBR RTG
    T. Brady 21/35 296 8.5 4 0 1-7 95.6 125.4

here is his game vs the ravens that you mentioned (despite struggles, still 10th in pts allowed):
C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT SACKS QBR RTG
    T. Brady 28/41 335 8.2 1 0 2-16 86.0 101.2

you're not implying that tom brady only plays well against inferior opponets are you? come on rw. yes he struggled in the pats losses, but had 2 of his best games against 2 of the league's best defenses in the league and also played very well in the other game you mentioned.

All three of those teams you pointed out are from the AFC...inferior conference putting up numbers against inferior teams. Plus the HOU defense was on their 7th, 8th, and 9th string LBs by then. No Tom Brady doesn't only play well against bad teams, he's a pretty awesome QB. He's been excellent for a LONG time, and I'm not doubting that. Plus I said he made some sick throws last night. It's just that whenever it mattered last night, and against SEA and AZ (teams with defenses that can cover up his guys with 4 down rushers) he hasn't been so hot. Yes NE offense has been a gimmick offense since they got Randy Moss and had the old throw it up for a miracle play for him to reach back for. Before that they ran clock killin' Corey Dillon and basically took the pressure off of Brady late in many cases, and before that they had Adam Vinateri to kick field goals to make up for stalled drives now they go for it on 4th downs. Unfortunately for them w/o Gronk (the new Corey Dillion) it all revolves around his little guys getting open, and it works A FUCKING LOT (as someone married into a Pats loving fam I know more than most).

Given all of this, my main contention with the Pats and Brady is that we are all for questioning the Schaubs, Matty Ices, Paytons, and others of that ilk but he always gets a pass. I'm already thinking that another Super Bowl loss puts him in the rare George W. air of being both a step away from having the most love in the world (4 SB wins) and the most hate in the world (4 SB losses). Of course getting to that many title games speaks to his abilities and I'd love having him on my team. It's just weird that he doesn't get critiqued for this.

you can't have it both ways. one of those teams i mentioned, is one YOU mentioned  i only included them because he played well when you thought he played poorly. the texans and broncos have good defenses. period.

the zona game was a fluke. seattle plays EVERYBODY tough at home, including your boy romo and aaron rogers this year. you can argue brady played better than any other qb at seattle this year.

the reason he gets more of a pass over guys like matt schaub and matty ice is because he has won 3 super bowls while neither of those guys have even won a playoff game yet. this is an odd argument for you to make. and peyton manning? just because bill simmons (an obviously biased pats fan) gives peyton a tough time, you want to throw him in with those guys? think you're reaching r dub. lil bit

...also, there are plenty of inferior teams in the nfc too. this isn't the 1980's or 1990's here. there are a couple better teams at the top of the heap in the nfc compared to the afc. but in general there are bad/mediocre teams littered all over the entire nfl. it's not limited to the afc.

Agree. I was in love with Melissa Stark when she was on ABC's MNF broadcasts and my wife groaned when I started watcher her on NFL network in the mornings as well this year. They have a nice lineup!

RG3 fined 10K for wearing an Adidas shirt last Sunday during the post-game press conference. Are you kidding me, NFL? :fp:

Is it fair to assume Sanchez and Tebow will not be in NY next year?

Sanchez's contract might make it hard to move him. But word on the street is that Tebow is going to Jacksonville. Makes sense, that's where he should have gone this year.

Why even have instant replay when even after watching it the refs still make the wrong call? I don't understand that.

Richard Sherman is not suspended...yes! I'm no Seahawks fan but chasing down Tom Brady for a stupid meme after your team beat his makes him a winner in my book. Sherman, Bernard Pollard, and Jay Cutler will remain my three favorite non-Cowboys in the league.

i'm watching this meaningless military bowl game today and remembered a guy i went to high school with was on san jose st's staff (he was our high school qb and his dad was villanova's athletic director back in the 90's so he's got some connections).

didn't see him on the sidelines so i googled his name and boom--there he is as the oakland raiders quarterbacks coach now. :o

...and there he is on facebook with carson palmer

haven't talked to this guy in years. pretty cool though.

  • Peterson is freakin' amazing. Easily the MVP. Would have liked to see him break the record...cause Dickerson is kind of a full-of-himself douche...but still an amazing achievement.

Man Peterson to fall 9 short. I wonder if they will go back through the tapes and try to find him 9 yards throughout the season? Can they do that? Kind of like baseball changing a hit to an error type of stuff.
