Maybe I'm looking too deeply into it, but I think NE signing Brown was as much to keep him from going to another contender as it was to secure him for themselves. (we know after Sunday night that they don't need him)

If he DOES act up / get in trouble, NE could bench him, but not release him until the season's over. No one else would be able to get him.

I highly doubt Bill pays a guy 10 Mil guaranteed to keep him away from KC.
He signed him to help win football games, plain and simple.
From all accounts they had no idea about this lawsuit as the parties had been negotiating a settlement and were under a gag order while the negotiations went on, which of course was lifted once the suit was filed. So legally Rosenhaus was prohibited from telling the Pats (or Raiders) about this potential issue while negotiating.

I should have worded my original post differently.

We all know AB had a ton of baggage even before the rape charges came out. If he acts up while with NE, it won't be a complete failure; they could suspend him but keep him on the roster, therefore keeping anyone else from picking him up (for example, KC, if Hill's injury turns out to be more serious than originally thought).

I would be surprised if that angle wasn't mentioned when they had the risk / reward conversation about going after him.

theory. AB  HAD to have the garaunteed money for a probable settlement. When the Raiders yanked it, he couldnt mitagate the hit financially

There’s a report that he’s been in talks with the accuser for months over a settlement, but that he wasn’t obligated by any NFL rule to inform the Raiders or Patriots about it. 

As for Twitter, he posted a video of him training at the TB12 place with Brady’s trainer Alex Guerrero. That led to hundreds of Twitter comments about AB possibly jizzing on Guerrero’s back.

right, thats what makes me think he needed the garaunteed money.  if he never plays a down for the pats , whatever settlement happens should be covered then. and her having what reads as credible text from him  given its style of speech etc means at least that one happened

Does anyone have an opinion on Dez Bryant returning? Do you think he has anything left in the tank? I’ve seen he’s expressed interest in wanting to play for Green Bay, but would be reaching out to the Saints first. Could be looking at a return possibly mid October.

Carson Wentz is amazing.  After everything that happened he almost pulled it out.  If they can find a way to allow him time back there, the dude is a magician.  (Even to his 5th and 6th wr options)

An amazing play (what a block!) play by Atlanta to get Julio free for that long TD.  

Have seen some pretty special games already after only two weeks.

Yeah I think that's it for him. They said on Sunday he was three games away from passing Mike Webster for the most games ever played for the Steelers. He'll have to settle for second-most I guess. 

Brees out for six weeks by the way.

I heard the girl turned down 2 mil..wanted 10 mil...Hard not to think this is a cash grab...Seems like no amount of money would make you not want to see the guy locked up..but 10 mil would make it go away??

No she wanted $2 million and he shot that down. 

And I edited my last post. He isn't formally being accused of sexual assault a second time, he apparently was "just" walking around naked in front of a woman who didn't want him to.
