There has always been an elephant in the shadows with the Patriots' run of success. Nature vs nurture or QB or Coach? It was all well and good when Brady is in his 20s and 30s.... but now, I can totally see Brady getting freaked out that the Patriots would likely transition to Garappolo without missing a beat, and he would have to go try to make it work in Arizona or something.
That's a good example. Montana - Young, Favre - Rodgers, Manning - Luck (was correct despite dysfunctional org).... etc.
They were going to be set up at QB for another 'generation'. Now they have a 40 year old with no understudy. Brady started to show signs of age in the last 1/3 of the season. Gronkowski is one heck of a security blanket for sure and it bailed the Pats out a few times... but Brady will not be MVP-level 2 seasons from now (even if he is next year). Watching Garappolo made me sick last year as a Bills fan, thinking that this thing was going to go on the back of an awesome young QB who had the goods.
The Patriots have been awesome at keeping emotion out of decisions. It is enviable. They have made a lot of hard ones. With this, Kraft brought emotion into it and probably stamped an expiration date on the dynasty, while the true architect knew what to do and is likely miffed.
Its tough to find a Garappolo too. Belichick has been actively looking throughout Brady's career. For every Garappolo, you have a Cassel, Mallett, Hoyer, Davey, and Huard.
Garrapolo has 6 td’s and 5 int’s in 5 games this season
3 of his 5 wins this season came against the 24th & 25th ranked defenses against the pass, the other against a rams team resting most starters
he is 7-0 in career
the 7 qbs he has beaten are:
palmer tannehill trubisky yates mariota bortles and mannion

Smart move by Gruden. Played hard to get and finally got an owner to give him a zillion dollars. The ESPN gig was cushy, but he had to be aware of all the job cuts to high paid personnel and I believe he was making the most there.
Cmon, E, don't rain on our parade. His team was 1-9 when he went under center. They went 5-0 from there on out. Clearly the guy is a difference maker. This is unusual for someone with so few starts...

Jimmy GQ still had more wins than Jacoby who had the advantage of playing all year for an arguable better team. 49ers have been a smoldering dumpster fire.

Yep. With the exception of the few teams who actually have franchise QBs, a majority of the league would love to have Jimmy G as their QB of the future.
It truly is amazing there are only around 15 people in the world that can play QB at a competent level. That number will only get lower in the next few years (hopefully the colts didn't break Luck beyond repair)
Personally, after B.B. and TB get their sixth, it’s all over. Matt Patricia and Josh McDaniels are off to HC positions, BB retires and TB ends up in the front office a la Elway. Not a bad gig nor run and I can go back to raking leaves on Sunday with a cigar and listening to pats games on the radio like in the olden days. For now, no days off.

MNF ain't what it used to be anyway
Or it could be we are getting old and now MNF stays on past our bed time.

I'd be surprised to see Bill retire. The NFL is his passion and there are only so many Bon Jovi concerts to fill in the gap of retirement.
I think TB will buy an island in the Caribbean to run his TB12 method and sometime in the next 20 years his followers will drink poisoned vodka to join a UFO following a comet behind the moon. Probably a better fate then Elway or Jeter could hope for.

I feel the same. I don't think we can anoint him the saviour quite yet.
Hey, I can do this all off season before I have to take any grief. The team has sucked for a number of years -- I'm going to have fun with this while I can.

It's more than him just beating bad teams and not so good quarterbacks (his team around him isn't that good either). I feel like his mechanics are really sound and he seems cool under pressure.
Wilson's contract with the devil is going to come due - he is going to leave football to join a monastery in the offseason. Seattle can go back to being synonymous with dogshit football again. Goff will be good, but he is no Jimmy G. Carr is all hype, Jimmy G is much better Rodgers is awesome Rivers is old, but pretty awesome Minn is all about the D, tough matchup but Jimmy G will be much better than their QB Chefs in KC? Depends which Chefs show up and who their QB is. Denver D didn't win too many games this year, Denver stinks
I forgot that Jimmy Jesus is coached by Kyle Saintahan.
You just keep loving your Pats and quit nay-saying Jimmy Jesus.
