I actually would have gone for it on 4th. The Lions definitely missed a lot of opportunities. But the blown call/not calling an obvious personal foul on Dez is the equivalent to tossing a game ending interception in terms of win percentage.

I just might take those points.

It's tempting. But to me, that says Sqauwks win by 3 touchdowns

There with you. I dont think 'Lina gets many (if any) points on the board.

True, but can Seattle score against Carolina's defense. The Panthers may only need 13 to cover.

It's bad enough that the PI call was over turned after the ref announced it and walked off the yardage, but how did dez not get a 15 yd unsportsmanlike penalty? Has that been addressed at all? I haven't listened to any sports radio today. Was that mentioned?

The question was if the issue of dez running on the field was addressed on talk radio. That was a bigger mistake than picking up the PI flag. You may be over it because most of Dallas nation knows they lose the game if either penalty was called.

From ESPN discussion with the head of Officiating for NFL:
Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant came onto the field without his helmet to argue the initial pass-interference call Sunday, an act that had many wondering why he wasn't flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct. But Blandino said that Bryant's actions weren't an automatic penalty, as the rule against players taking their helmets off on the field applies only to players in the game at that time.

"The ref really wasn't listening to what I was saying," Bryant said Sunday. "I gave him my opinion. I thought it was a bad call. He was blocking me out and telling me to get back (to the sidelines) and the coaches, they were grabbing me. Since the play was dead, I thought it was OK."

The official on Sunday had "discretion" to decide whether Bryant's actions warranted a penalty and decided against it, although Blandino said he would have supported a penalty on the Cowboys' star receiver if one had been called.

Dallas actually committed three penalties on that play, all of which should have been an automatic first down:

    1) Defensive holding coming just after the snap on the guy that should have been called for PI
    2) The PI
    3) Personal foul on Dez for coming on the field and arguing

But still, the Lions had their chances. They blew a 14 point lead. They had a chance to drive down the field at the end and lost TWO fumbles (luckily getting the first one back when the recovering Dallas player fumbled). The better team won. The automatic first down that Detroit should have gotten might have changed things, but they didn't get it and oh well.....

To steal from The Juggler, bad calls/no calls have been part of football since the game was invented, my friends. Just like dirty players and dirty plays. Get over it.

Also, the same guy that didn't get the pass interference call also didn't get a face mask penalty called against him on the same play. The Lions got away with running into the kicker after the Cowboys got penalized for the same thing. It happens all the time. And as mentioned, the Lions had plenty of chances to win the game and they couldn't pull the trigger. They had the ball with 2:32 left in the game. Plenty of time left. It was theirs if they wanted it.

Yeesh. Bad calls are always going to be involved. The travesty that was the last quarter of that game will go down in history as one of the worst ever. Take off the star shaped glasses for a moment.

Only in Bizzaro NFL could the Colts have a playoff game against Peyton Manning.
