I don't think I've ever seen worse coaching than I saw with chip Kelly today. Horrible. You've got the best running back in the league on 3rd and goal from the 3yd line and you pass. Foles should have knew better and checked to a run. The eagles deserved to lose.

uh oh some of my colleagues in the Eagles thread are going to hunt you down. they do not take criticizing of Chip Kelly very well. you've been warned
    ;))
....except you are the one who agreed with kelly throwing at the end, there. haha
    What? When? Uh ok?
not you. the guy who replied to you. i agree they should have attempted one run at the end because i don't think the niners were expecting it. would have set up play action on 3rd or 4th down as well. put the ball in the hands of your best player at least once down there, struggling or not.
they ran it on 2nd down and got it to the 1. dope. man hard to argue with a guy who can't even remember what happened.

couldn't run it on 3rd down because if you get stopped you either have to waste a timeout or use about 30 seconds. throwing on 3rd down was the right call. they ended up getting the ball back with 1:23 and it should have been close to midfield except for a terrible penalty on the punt. I have no problems with Chip Kelly's end game management this past sunday.
nah. i agree with last12exit. not one of chip's better coaching displays. time wasn't an issue at that point. if you score, the game is basically over anyway. sf was anticipating pass all the way.

look, i'm a chip kelly fan too, but you gotta criticize him when it's warranted. plus he had james casey out there instead of ertz. gotta have your best players on the field when the game is on the line.
uhh dude above you said if they ran they ball one 1st or 2nd down (which they fucking did by the way) it would open up play action on 3rd and 4th down. now you say they were anticipating pass.
    clueless.
    huh?

no, man. say you run on 3rd down when the niners were clearly expecting pass and get a half yard or something. now you've shown the defense that you're not afraid to run it in that situation even after you've struggled running the ball all game. naturally that will give the defense something else to think about on 4th down, hence the play action becomes all the more powerful of a play call. i mean that's football 101.

disagree with the play calls. disagree with the package of players on the field. not chip's best moment.

edit--yeah I see i said 2nd down in a previous post but meant 3rd, obviously. doesn't change the point though.
Although i agree 100% that Casey shouldn't have been on the field on 3rd down you do realize he was on the field because he is a better blocker than Ertz and to give the impression that a run was possible right?

yes but sf didn't buy it. chip's running game seems to work best when they run in what appear to be passing formations anyway--spreading the defense out and then taking advantage of the mismatch on the line. all about fooling the defense. i get the argument for passing, i just disagree with it.

at the end of the day they're 3-1 when most people thought they'd have 2 losses at this point. so it's not the end of the world.
agree surprised at some of the negativity this week around here. 3-1 and should win this week and head into the Giants game at 4-1. at worst 4-2 at the bye is as good as anyone would have expected with a pretty decent chance at being 5-1.
    agreed.

and not to belabor those two plays but:

The Eagles' third and fourth-down plays from the one-yard line against the 49ers were featured on the NBC Sports show Turning Point this week. As the piece explained, the fact that the Niners had the perfect coverage in those situations was no accident. They had seen both plays before on tape, including in the Eagles' win over Oakland last year. Both plays against the Raiders resulted in touchdowns. This time around, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio seemed to be waiting for them.

"I don’t know if you ever plan for two plays from inside the two with the game on the line, but I will tell you this: the two calls that we made on third down and fourth down, we practiced during the week in those situations," said Fangio.

Added cornerback Perrish Cox: "The two calls we had, I think they were actually the only two calls we went over at practice Friday. It worked out perfect.”

Bethea told reporters after the game that the Niners' defense had a feel for what the Eagles were going to run based off the formations they were in

Broncos released Matt Prater. Good news for Lions fans.
  • Why would they release Matt Prater? Guy's a rockstar! A couple of years ago Tebow got all the press, but Prater was winning a lot of those games from 40, 50+ yards with his leg.

I wonder where he'll end up? I'm sure there are a few teams that would love to snatch him up.

  • I bet my cousin every week. Last week I took KC and he took NE and so he owed me $20. We went double or nothing tonight and this time I took NE. We were texting and NE was looking good on their opening drive and after the first 3 or 4 plays I text my cousin and said NE 40 CIN 17. Just totally random score, right off the top of my head.
The score was 40-17 with 2:55 left when they kicked a FG to go up 43-17, which turned out to be the final score.

Amazing that Watt wasn't even this dominant in college. Really good college player, but all of a sudden is just manhandling everyone in the NFL. He's so fun to watch.

I don't think most fans care or not ... except when their star DE gets a four game ban and then ends up tearing his knee and is out for the season (RIP Robert Mathis). :ar!

Records are not held in the same regard as a sport like baseball, especially with all the rule tweeks that increase scoring year after year. And it's a gladiator sport.
