Ryan Leaf got another five years jail time although he won't have to serve any additional to what he is currently in for. Could the be any chasm wider between how careers played out for potential #1 picks than Leaf and Manning?

Crazy. It's one thing for Leaf to turn out to be a bust, but now he's in jail while Manning just played in a Super Bowl last year at the age of 38. Colts sure made the right decision on that one.
Thank goodness because the Colts would be playing in L.A. right now if they chose Leaf and I would be surrounded by Chicago Bears fans! :|
  • I was in the Leaf camp when they were talking about which guy should be #1....I had watched him play in the Pac 10 as a USC guy and one of my best friends knew Peyton from New Orleans and described him in very unflattering ways through a variety of stories.

Clearly I was WRONG! and Peyton is not only an all time great NFL player and one of the best QBs ever but he seems like a pretty hilarious guy as well.

Ryan Leaf turned into a nightmare. Remember that game in the rain again the Chiefs? I think he was still a rookie and turned the ball over 5 times and had 1 pass completion or something crazy like that. Obviously off the football fields things went really wrong.

  • Is Congress sending a letter to Roger Goddell demanding to know how things went down the height of hypocrisy? Shouldn't Congress focus on how fucked up our laws are that the cops had this video and they let the motherfucker plead out to a diversion program?

It's effing stupid. 5 weeks off on vacation and this is the first thing they focus on? Just like PED's in MLB, they are grandstanding because it's an easy topic to defend and takes focus away from the real problems they should be focusing on.

That's why even though Roger Clemens is a scumbag, after the biggest collective group of liers in the world tried to convict Clemens of lying to them and he won, I was praying he was going to do a Half Baked Scarface "fuck you, fuck you, fuck you" exit.

Wow. Goodell has to go. This shit is out of control. I don't care how much money he is making for the owners, this guy is a complete fucking clown.
  • Goodell is fucked
  • So Goodell was either lying about seeing the tape or he has no control at all over his office. Either way, fuck him. He has to go.

I want this to just go away. Can't even turn on any sports show regarding football without these douchebags being the story.

It's a friggin shame. We've had 1 week of football and this is what is going on. Too bad this didn't all take place in the off season. Let's hope by week 3 we're past all this and back to normal.
Another habit says it's in love with you
Another habit says its long overdue
Another habit like an unwanted friend
I'm so happy with my righteous self

Completely agree. Just get Goodell out of there and everyone can move on. I really hope this bullshit doesn't overshadow the whole season.

he threw the worst interception i have ever seen against the eagles in 2001. like 10 seconds left in the half the cowboys were at their own 40, down 2 tds, and decided call a short out pass for some reason. he threw it right to jerimiah trotter who basically walked into the endzone. i don't think leaf made even the slightest attempt to run him down. the play call was stupid. the throw was horrendous. it just summarizes the guys career.

If they saw the video of him punching her, which I think is very likely, they were worried about attaching that image to anything NFL. It provokes a horrible reaction in a lot of people. If there was a video of Michael Vick killing a dog himself, I don't think he'd be in the NFL.

I don't think Goodell was protecting Rice so much as he was rewarding Rice. Rice fucked up, but then he put a ring on her finger and shut his victim up. It may not be official written policy, but that is EXACTLY what the NFL wants these guys to do.

The two game suspension makes so little sense otherwise, tape or no tape. I really do think the engagement played a role.

I'll be muting it because Jim Nantz and Phil Simms will be calling the game.

i dont think Goodell saw it.

I mean what moron in this day and age...even if someone tells you this video will never see the light of day, believes THAT! Everything eventually comes out.

The coverup is always worse....No one learns

As much of an arrogant dick that Goodell is, it is hard to believe that he saw it and thought that this could be covered up and never come out. Even if that is true, the fact that the NFL had the video and he didn't see it shows how incompetent he is as commissioner.

The whole thing was botched, but if someone can hack into someones phone and show their private pics..... you dont think a surveillance video will come out?

I agree, either way it looks like he has to go

  • Funny how this "independent" investigation that the NFL is launched is being led by a law firm that has the NFL as a client. Also, Mara and Rooney are the owners in charge of this who are both huge Goodell backers. All sorts of conflict of interest here, but I wouldn't expect anything less from this complete fucking dope Goodell.

    According to TMZ

CBS yanked a Rihanna song intro to tonight's game between the Ravens/Steelers because I guess it would remind people of domestic violence, since Rihanna was a battered woman...... WTF

They are yanking her, the victim???

Wow there isn't a single person with a brain connected to this whole story

    Unreal

Perfect logic by NFL standards to yank Rihanna. They should have Chief Wiggum as their official spokesman ...

"Ok folks, show's over... Nothing to see here... Show's OH MY GOD! A horrible plane crash! Hey everybody, get a load of this flaming wreckage!

Ravens star Terrell Suggs who has now taken Stabby Lewis' job as amping up the stadium intro ..

    image

Terrell Suggs has been accused multiple times of domestic abuse by his now wife that had to remove a protective order against Suggs to marry him ....

According to USA Today, the wedding came three days after Suggs’ now-wife, Candace Williams, removed a protective order that she got against Suggs on November 20. When she requested that order, Williams claimed that Suggs punched her in the neck and dragged her alongside a car he was driving while their two children sat inside. That was at least the second time that Williams claimed Suggs had been violent to her in the presence of their children; in 2009 Williams claimed that Suggs threw a soap dispenser at her head, hit her in the chest with his hand, and held a bottle of bleach over her and their then-1-year-old son.
