She didn't even appear to provoke him. He started pushing her, she moved towards him, and he dropped her. He's a pathetic piece of shit...but so is she. Who stays with and lies for someone who knocks u out??

Sorry, as fucking angry as I am about the RR situation, and as concerned as I am about the team I am a fan of possibly going down a similar path (time will tell I hope)...I have to talk shit on the Cowboys.

  • Not to be dick on this, but I'm assuming it's because you guys are actually seeing him hit her that it makes it worse? I mean, what did you think happened behind those closed doors when she spilled out of the elevator?

It doesn't make it worse now that we see her get socked in the face, and therefore are furious Rice only got two games. Pretty sure everyone should be furious from the minute he only got 2 games.

I can't wait till Welker and Gordon are both back playing in the league a few weeks from now because of this.

Me thinks the NFL knew this video was going to leak, thus Goodell's letter to the owners and tougher fines for domestic abuse setting a poorly thought out smoke screen a week ago.

It doesn't help when the NFL, Ray Rice, and his fiance and the Ravens organization were spinning that she may have provoked the incident. And let's not let Johnny Law off the hook either. I could not imagine the prosecutor letting him enter a "not guilty" plea based on seeing that video.

I think the video makes it worse because I don't know what happened in the elevator and unfortunately have to trust the powers that be, The Justice System, NFL & The Ravens, to do the right thing. Sorry, but I've never seen a pro athlete spit on a woman twice and then knock her out. Based on the punishment, I hope they didn't see that video.

I think it makes it worse because everyone involved (including her) talked like she "asked" for it when in reality he just fucking hooked her twice. Not that anyone with half a brain cell thought that that made any difference, but just the way it was looked at. I figured that it was something like Beyonce's sister going ape shit on Jay Z in that elevator, again, not that that makes the situation any better.

Maybe a moving train topic more than NFL thread....but I agree on what you are stating to a certain extent and I was absolutely furious (check back through a number of threads) at 2 games. I, for one, believed I knew what happened on that elevator....but the idea that there was any question and we had to rely on other accounts (Fuckbag and Fiance) muddied the water for many and that was the excuse that was used.

Seeing it does make it worse in the court of public opinion. Maybe some positive will come out of this farce called Roger Goddell's justice system.

Your point that it shouldn't take seeing it is one that I agree with but what about all of the reports that happen where we dont have any proof positive and it is a he-said, she-said thing? (Or, more sadly, a reported incident that the abuse victim denies happened when it comes down to it...) Ray McDonald for the 49ers, for example, I think they should be benching him until the whole truth comes out and cut him if it looks like he did it when all is reviewed...but who are we to know what really happened? If we had video any of that doubt would be removed, right? Who cares if she said/did anything to big tough Ray Rice, the video is damning and he should be held accountable for his actions and not given probation by the cops and a free pass by the NFL while they claim that they are offended by this and have doled out appropriate punishment.

And, btw, I totally agree that it would be good to see serious crimes treated seriously and joke crimes (smoking weed) treated like joke crimes.

Call it like it is NFL -- Gordon seemed like a bad seed and Rice seemed like a good guy. They dished out penalties accordingly.
Gordon might be many things but I cant watch a tape of him knocking out the love of his life.

Yeah, AMT might be better here but, yes, this is what I'm saying.

Whether she instigated it or not - bottom line - she fell, directly on her face, due to being slugged in the face. By a man.

By this logic I'm assuming people would be fine with a 2-week suspension if the only evidence of what happened was a swollen eye and a tooth missing? Just because we didn't see it makes the 2-week suspension ok?

That's all I'm saying. OK, we saw it - we saw what it takes to make a woman fall on her face unconsciously. I wouldn't think he gave her a wet willy with the doors shut. How does this change how much of a pieaceashit he is? That's my only point is all. 2 weeks was ludicrous then, and it's just as ludicrous now.
  • Ravens just released Rice.

So apparently the Ravens were OK with him dragging his unconscious girlfriend out of an elevator. But now that the video has surfaced of him knocking her out, they FINALLY do something. I guess just knowing that it happened wasn't enough for them. What a fucking mess for the Ravens and NFL.

Think it is just that we KNOW what happened because we saw. How many people do we interact with that will never believe anything unless they see it? (Lots right?) I agree with you though....and will be interested to see how much the Ravens change their position given the public backlash that is (right or wrong in its intensity/timing) coming.

(CNN) -- [Breaking news update, published 2:28 p.m. ET]

The Baltimore Ravens have terminated the contract of running back Ray Rice, the team announced Monday, the same day a shocking video surfaced showing the NFL star punching his then-fiancee in February.

If you hurry, you can still get a women's Ray Rice jersey on the team site.

I imagine Goodell will do the Ravens a solid and limit the salary cap hit due to the "circumstances" and all will be forgotten. We must protect this house, after all.

People don't even believe things they see. THIS IS A FALSE FLAG TO DISTRACT US FROM CONCUSSIONS
  • Look forward to the lawsuit over if he gets to collect his contract or not.
Glad the Ravens were compelled to do this and I hope the 49ers follow suit when/if they can determine that McDonald punched a pregnant woman.

Ravens have already paid him $28M of his five year $35M deal (which is now on year three). Outside of the Raiders, do you think anyone will pick him up next season for cheap?

Dont think there is a team that wants to fuck with that. Barry Bonds, meet Ray Rice. Even Rutgers felt obligated to have a press statement.

They look like a monkey fucking a football!

I was kinda hoping they didn't cut him so we could watch Goodell squirm and make another incredibly stupid decision in the next 48 hours (there is still much hope).

Now the NFLPA will be forced to defend Rice. Ray McDonald is probably sweating right now.
  • Really, after watching this again, that has to be the most pathetic thing I've ever seen. It was totally premeditated to punch her.

We didn't even have to wait 48 minutes for Goodell to brain fart ... NFL has suspended Rice which puts him in double jeopardy and contridicts a policy not even a couple of weeks old.

when this first all came out, i remember reading that there was video that hadn't been made public showing rice clock her with a roundhouse...i remember the nfl saying they had seen ALL the tape from that night...which is why i was so incensed when he got a slap on the wrist and a standing ovation from ravens fans

the nfl is a pathetic, useless organization...goodell should resign today along with any of his minions...these people are horrible excuses for human beings

So does dude ever play again? He is a so so running back who is clearly a dirtball and will be a PR nightmare. At the same time, a lot of teams will need a running back down the stretch and Vick came back and played (although he did serve time), and there are clearly tons of dirtballs in the NFL.
