you are arguing semantics. there was not one afghan among the 19 dead hijackers and the 20th one that was tried.

i am not sure what you are agreeing with me on. i did not condemn or criticize the WAY they killed. i just said war fucks people up and makes them do stupid things like urinate on the people they just killed. i have at length criticized WHY they are even there in the first place. the fact is, golden showers with a consenting adult aside, it takes an incredibly sick person to urinate on another person living or dead.

I see your point. I was speaking off the cuff. I DO care that they conduct themselves according to the codes of conduct set forth in the UCMJ. They CLEARLY violated that. They should be punished accordingly.

I do not think it "causes" backlash- the backlash is already there. It does probably make it worse, and will be used as propaganda against us. Making the troops' jobs even harder. So these Marines didn't do their brothers any favors.

Personally, I don't care if every terrorist our troops remove from the planet get a little goldenshower after- I know that sounds harsh- but I really don't care. Don't film it. I can't judge these guys- they are getting shot at, injured, killed, watching their friends get killed. No one knows the strains of war like the soldier.

And they offered to hand them over to the U.S once the U.S authorities had provided evidence of their guilt. The U.S refused.

Maybe the Cubans should carpet bomb Miami seeing as how the U.S harbours known Cuban terrorists? I'm sure you'd have no problem with that, right?

At the risk of being outspoken (and speaking from the outside looking in)... why is it Obama's fault they are still there? I find the lack of patience for Obama on this board slightly disturbing. He's essentially the relief pitcher coming in with the bases loaded and the heart of the order stepping to the plate with nobody out.

Slightly coy in another thread, I'll be a little more bold and suggest that this brutal mess is Bush and his supporters'. What exactly do you want from Obama? Immediate withdrawl (abandon the people you 'have liberated' and leave them to the mercy of the active insurgents set to re-assume positions of power and re-establish 'order')? The guy has been placed in a no-win situation by his predecessor.

From the outset, this military plan was never a good one. No exit strategy. No timelines. No measurable objectives. And the following question begs a response: from all accounts I have heard, weren't 15 of 19 terrorists on 9-11 Saudi Arabians... are we sure GW had your military in the right countries as he focussed military might first on Afghanistan and subsequently Iraq?

Not trying to sound like M. Moore, but I can understand the problem with that GW might have had given his longstanding family ties to Saudi Royalty. Was this guy acting on behalf of the people, or was he placating ther public and simply spilling blood in the name of vengance?

I don't care how incompetent some people are suggesting Obama is. The problems he is trying to deal with are immensely profound and there is no easy, instant solution ("Oh shoot. We should just do this!"). For the time being, Obama couldn't make a decision that puts him anywhere near the class of the 'last guy'!

Sorry if I have offended anyone, but this prevalent attitude towards Obama really has me confused.

This was the same day the U.S army had opened fire on a peaceful demonstration killings dozens of people. Funny how what happened later that same day eclipses this earlier crime in most people's minds.
