Is it worth it? As a resume builder and as a skills builder.
Anyone a hiring rep that would enlighten me if they look for this?
I was looking to maybe take some classes to improve my skills and then take the test to put on my resume.. opinoins?
I'm a self taught Excel Guru....does that count?
i can't answer if the litte degree would make a difference....however, i believe excel classes are bunk. IMO, if you really want to learn excel or any other office product....open up the program and start playing around. push the buttons and see what they do. write some formula's and see what they do. it's about using and doing vs. spending a day or two in a classroom listening.
I'm self taught too, and consider myself better than most when I have used it for many engineering reports and projects.
I don't want to sit through the class. Best case senario is if someone has taken it before and can tell me if I know enough to just go in, pay for it and pass without having to review anything or learn anything new. My main goal is to have proof to future employers that I have proficient skills at excel and word. (i am going to be a college senior is september so i figure now is a prime time to do it.)

I guess I am self taught too in excel and access. what I know I either figured out myself, stole from someone else, or now I even google things. taking classes might teach a few nuggets or most likely how to make pretty reports, but to me, not worth it.
I'm not sure I believe you know anything about excel... :?

i'll arrange an excel demonstration, if you can arrage for me to do this
you'd probably have to sign about a $500,000 waiver :?

Example:
In Word or Excel
I tell current document to print 4 copies
I close the document
Go to another document and when I print that document, it prints 4 copies even though it only says 1
I have to close the program completely and reopen to fix the problem.
I have killed a few trees because of this problem. I dont understand why the next document would print multiple copies (the same number of copies from the previous print) even thought it says 1. Its a new document, it should have the default settings applied (and it appears to). I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office once already due to some problems I was having, but this one persists.

have you tried rebooting?
i've not seen that problem. might be a setting someplace...but i doubt it.

Computers here auto reboot weekly after backups and updates... Not to mention the recent power outages... so there have been a few reboots and no fix to the problem. I seem to have the most unusual and unsolvable computer problems here at work. :fp: Reboot is usually always my first go-to option when weird shit happens.

i've not found a problem where certain files seem to self corrupt which prevents me from saving :fp:

me: "I understand you could show me how to do pivot tables"
He says "look, you do this, this, and this"
me: "that's it?"
him: "yes, that's it. now go away and die"
and oddly enough, not long after that he passed away, he was about the age I am now......hmmm........
you lost me at pivot tables.
if you want to average 12 columns of data, don't select 14 columns. :fp:
she said.....
wait for it
you know it's coming
she was working on a pivot table.

how does the week after christmas work.
her: "he normally uses salmon to color the stuff he does and I asked him why no color. he said he didn't feel well"
me: "he doesn't feel well because he didn't color it salmon?"
her:"no, I think he didn't color it because he doesn't feel well"
me: "well maybe if he colored it, that might make him feel better"
her: "maybe"
me: "and if he made a pivot table from it, now he could really feel good"
her: "I don't think pivot tables do the same thing for him that they do for me"
we both laughed a lot and it took a lot of effort for me not to say anything else. we are professionals after all...
that sounds dirty
Just wondering if anyone else has this problem...

when you need 4 copies, hit print 4 times.

why is this not working.
stupid xls vs. xlsx

having a high skill level with office can be quite rewarding.
[will shurg] it's not so bad....when you have mad skills like mine....
motivation tho....that skill is lacking.
